This is true and possibly better valve guide seals as well. ~100 miles on my new rev-up VQ, so to early to tell if oil consumption has ended with this improved VQ. Their pt# for these are 10102-AC7M9 and those been used since May/June of 2007.Q45tech wrote:Word is they are building a group of replacement engines with different piston rings to better capture the oil [oil scraper ring] for use by certain MT owners.
The automatic due to TC slip cannot generate the same or as fast peaking engine vacuum as a manual on a down shift.
i dont think thats true i have an automatic 06 g35x and im seeing that im burning oil i did a oil change like two months ago i hardly drive my car so much and i checked it today and its like a thumb nail low from full i guess thats like half a quart or 3/4 low so im thinking of taking it to infiniti while im still under warranty i only have 54k and i just did the 60k tune up plugs the whole 9 yards i had no leaking spark plugs either i guess my valve covers were still good any body got any opinion oh and i have no mods everything stockkmech_7 wrote:Funny? If its realy a piston ring problem how come i dont see any people with autos having the problem. the engine is the same!! the only diff is the transmission and computer program. this would be happening in both, unless....people are over-reving thier engines and damaging the rings. This would cause any engine to have this problem. But, doesnt the manual G/Z also have the rev limiter? hmm.......
lil fishy?
Update on my oil consumptiontelcoman wrote:I am a 2006 G35 6sp manual Sedan owner with 24k miles. Yes I was surprised that my G35 uses oil. The past two thousand miles it only used one quart. The oil consumption seems to be improving as the total mileage on the vehicle has increased. I check my oil weekly and change it myself every three thousand miles. I would advise every G35 owner to do the same. Monitor your oil level closely. My old 74 Mazda RX4 Rotary Engine also used oil because an oil metering pump used to drip oil to lubricate the engine seals.Just because an engine uses a little oil is not a sufficient reason to not buy the car. Oil is cheap.
The Infiniti is a fantastic automoble and I love mine.

Seriously??? My engine just died from this..and they are trying to make me pay for it. They said an OC test wasn't relevant..the real bs is that im under the powertrain warranty in mileage, but out of the service date by 3 months!bluepitbull04 wrote:this actually happen to me my car would be bone dry after 2,000 miles so i took it to an infiniti dealer and they ran an oil consumption test and it fail so they replace the entire motor for free
Well I am under the powertrain warranty of 70k miles, but the service date was up 3 months ago. I purchased this right before the service date ran up. So I am hoping they will help me because I have changed the oil three times in the few months ive had it, so although out of service date- maybe they will understand its not due to my negligence and help?audtatious wrote:Had you reported consumption issues before the service date was up?
