So you're saying that there is a Schrader valve in the fill tube to the gas tank? Having the pump shut off prematurely seems to be a hit and miss thing... but I don't think I have ever seen the gas gauge needle all the way at the full mark since I have owned the car. I was chalking that up to the possibility that the needle was hitting its limit point on the gauge, and not being aligned quite right, not to the possibility that the tank was not filling all the way.G_whizz wrote:If I read you correctly BIgWill...sorry if I confused you... if the pump is constantly shutting off when you fill your car..it IS your car not the gas pump.
I had the valve replaced in my car (Schrader valve) now it seems to be fine.
Thanks again Sean. I added an extended bumper to bumper when I bought mine last year, so I guess I will make an appointment with the dealer.G_whizz wrote:Yuppers.. there is one in your fill tube (or around there anyway)
Mine was under warranty..so not sure on the cost thing.

Funny you should say that. I was just looking at how many side conversations have taken place in this thread! Didn't this start out as a discussion about oil consumption? lolG_whizz wrote:LOL...on another note...I can't believe this thread made it to 2 pages
Not so much Sean... I have noticed the same thing with the station at which I fill up. I fill at the same Chevron station almost exclusively. There are a two pumps that consistently do this when I fill up. I have occasionally gone back to those pumps, just as a test, and each time they end up stopping early. I don't think that it is a 'Schrader Valve' issue. I could be wrong, but the only 'valve' in the tank fill tube is the flap at the top, and that moves out of the way as soon as you put the nozzle in the opening.G_whizz wrote:Good info...strange eh?
But its a big problem for the people that have a dud engine.Q45tech wrote:That's the problem [or solution] more than 98% of the owners have no problem with oil consumption.
well, that's interesting. i frequently downshift to slow down my car...and it doesn't use any oil ('06 automatic coupe).SilverShadow wrote:Read at another forum that Nissan Tech is saying that "Oil loss due to customer downshifting to slow vehicle down- compression built up during this is pushing oil past rings which is then being burnt off".
I never downshift to slow down and mine burns over a quart per 1k miles.SilverShadow wrote:Read at another forum that Nissan Tech is saying that "Oil loss due to customer downshifting to slow vehicle down- compression built up during this is pushing oil past rings which is then being burnt off".
Heh... at that rate, the car should last forever!!Rooster Cogburn wrote:Never imagined I would get new engine with every oil change.
