also, next time you look at an outlet in your house, newer polarized outlets have a big and a small blade. the small blade is the hot side, and the big blade is neutral [ground]

I've always wanted to throw a 10 foot chunk of re-bar into a substation to see what would happen.

and if you take the outlet apart the black wire is not the ground. Made that mistake while wiring in a coke machine. Though it really didn't make a difference as it was just an extention cord type deal.

household wiring is "usually" black-hot white-neutral green-groundalso, red can be hot sometimes. typical household wiring only has black and white, with a green ground lead, or a bare copper ground.

might be different if someone didnt follow code...

white black- ground hot / white red- ground hot

red black is uncommon in an AC system, its a DC thing.

you would have to get it to touch the wire and ground. then you would get one hell of a show untill the breakers blew.

It was my dumb *** thinking in terms of auto electrical. It still worked, but if anybody worked on it they might get messed up.

you know those 9V batteries? One time I stuck two together (its thier damn fault, they put pos and neg on same side so it matches up perfectly!). Anyway, felt like acid was leaking onto my fingers so I took them apart and never spoke of it again... ... wait, yes I did
