I don't think he painted the car him self in first post he said
Pirate_Freder wrote:Just got home from the body shop, the guy who did my car called me to come check it out because he just finished painting it. I am a little bit worried because it looks a little bit reddish but then it is surrounded by several 500w lamps(every metal flake is activated so to speak) so it should look much better when he drops it off at my house tomorrow. Anywho, the color is Daytona Violet Metallic, which is BMW color code 283.
But the paint look good! Is it done or is it going to be sanded and buffed?

I'm liking the color. +10 for the good sand and buff, it should clean up nicely. It'll look great once you get it lowered and all front end pieces back on. Not really a big fan of the wheels, but it should look much better once it's lowered.

IMO, you should try giving the side of the car some contrast. Like some electrical tape molding, lol. Is the oem "strip" really electrtical tape btw?

Thanks guys.Hcraig13: Yeah, it was done by a shop but it wasn't color sanded or polished. They started using a different clear that they said doesn't need it plus it is still curing. But I do plan to have it sanded and polished anyways, just to get it as nice as possible.

Interior is coming but suspension and headlights are first. I already have some plans but you guys will see when I get there....of yeah I think I need some spacers and maybe some rolling too *sigh*.

Dittoz7: orange peel...? yeah i considered a cover but i am worried about it scratching, any brand/model recommendations for quality, safety, fit, etc.?

ohhh, the texture of an orange peel. I did notice some of that. Well like I said I do plan on having one of the guys from the shop sand/buff/polish it to show quality after I get her ready for the road. thanks for the info.

yeah I can't help but laugh when I look at those pics and how insanely high it is. I have Function B6's that are going on with some Kazama RUCA's to remedy that problem.

You definitely don't want to cover it just yet. Wait a month for it to completely cure.

Love the color man, the color reminds me of my VW Rabbit that I painted years ago ('93). I've thought about that color on my zenki but I dunno. Def get them to wet sand and buff that thing I see orange peel and quite a bit of trash. Once they get it slick def post up moar pics of it in the sun. I'll see if I can dig out those pics of the VW & post em up .

sounds wise presidential, thanks. any recommendations on brand/model for a cover though from you or whoever? It's kinda scary for me, I'm so afraid of it scratching the paint.

Thanks. sweet, do you recall what the color of your rabbit was called? yeah, wet sand and buff will probably be in about a month after I get a bunch of work done and it's fully cured.

haha, dang, i don't know if i have ever seen a nice rabbit, that's sick; pretty color too.

Kalypso123: gotcha, and in terms of your aero question, I did consider some stuff but with how outrageous the shipping is on body parts plus things that take priority it didn't happen. hopefully on the more frivolous end of things I will spruce up the interior and get a new exhaust(pace setter came with the car).

EDIT: just got screwed on jack-stands for the day, my friend was using them and their at his brothers house. he was supposed to bring them back this morning but he can't get a hold of his brother.....I may just go without and put the coils on anyways, not like I need to get under the car so wtv.
