your basically evening out the clear. Clear is sprayed to be like the texture of an orange peel, which covers up flaws in the paint from the factory. Cheap variable speed one from Harbor Freight Tools. Chicago brand I do believe. I threw the chicago pads in the trash. Never even took them out of the celophane.
