degrease the engine, under car, wheels(take them off car and clean the back too)

...cleaning inside and out is cheap...can take a while....and the finished product really gives you a sense of accomplishment.

I did this when my car was out of commission about 2 years ago. now it needs it all over again.

Ok here is what you do.

You will need:- A cup of water.- one Dirty toothbrush- WD-40- Lots of will power.

K so then you pop your hood. And go to town on cleaning everything. The WD-40 is for lil circuits here and there just a quick lil spray on all of them that see air and slight weather will not hurt them WD-40 = Water Displacement/40. So its not going to hurt anything. just scrub everything you can get too. Get some shop towels to get that EXTRA nasty build up off in the special areas. Maybe get all your lose change and go buy some sea foam ( some people hate this stuff, BUT I LOVE IT ). Sea Foam your car, you can also use it to clean other lil areas in the engine bay. I if you can get the money for it maybe buy a MAF Sensor cleaner its only like 3 bucks. Just spray it and let it dry. That could take a good 4 days of work if you have like ADD.

Hope this helps!

unbolt all your ground wires, sand down the connections, and re-install them. That should take some time, and is a damn good thing to do.

hood pin kit.... 20-30 bucks.... remove front latch, and use the pins... looks cool ( i think, but i also come from the muscle car world.... so my views are different ) that's really all you can do for the hood

gut the cat.... or tube it....

get some gas treatment, and fuel injection/oil treatment and put them in your car.... really gets some of that s*** out of your car

remove rims.... clean them, spray breaks with lube ect... to clean them out, then clean the brake dust off the back of the rim...and maybe even lay down some paint... some nice gray, black, or smoke wheels would look cool and cheap

if you have a cell phone and have some one who can help you if you ever get a flat... remove spare tire and all the other jacks and s*** from your trunk... you save weight

remove sound deadner

get fast orange engine degreaser... spray on, let sit for 15 mins and whipe off.... gets your engine to look how its suppose to... minus paint chips/scratches....

go to lowes pick up some either hard piping or pvc piping if you want to be really ghetto and rig up a cold air intake.... with your big cown filter...but remember to get that filter as far away from the motor as possible

take your valve cover off and paint it...cheap and looks good

wash the car with soap and water...let sun dray, then put 4 coats of wax on it....

clean up wiring in the engine bay... really most of those wires only need to be re routed....

sleepy eyes if your into that

clean your sensor

$34.99 chrome hose cover kit from pep boys....looks pretty cool and kind of cheap

oil change....15 bucks

change the plugs .... 15 bucks

change the wires.... 50 bucks

break pads ...front.... 24 bucks life time warranty from auto zone duralast gold series.

make a homedepot/lowes lip kit...cheap

....just some cheap / free stuff

man... i don't like hood pins. i've seen and heard of people opening their hood without the use of the latch. like one flips up the headlights and then pops the hood by pulling up on the hood then unlatches it. then also another one where you pop the hood with the latch then you can't open the hood without closing the door first.

but yeah thanx for the ideas guys! i'll be doing some of those probably soon. also i still have to take out the wheel well cover on the inside since my tires are scrapping against there.

Im too lazy to see what was posted above, but my buddy bought garage door strip (that black stuff that seals the door to the conrete) and turned it into a $10 lip. Its surprisingly nice.

I know how stupid that sounds btw, but it doesnt look bad and it never gets a scratch...

This isn't quite free, but it's not too bad.

Is this what you're looking for as an alternative to the hood propper?

Cleaning the engine bay/grounds is probably the best cheap mod you could ever hope to do. It takes a bunch of time, but the end results are definitely worth it.

The best free mod you could do is weight reduction... get rid of those unwanted pounds... if it were me i would start by removing the sound deadener and the insulation under the carpet

Gut the interior... remove everything that is not needed... replace everything else

I wouldn't recommend gutting or removing the sound deadening unless it's a track car. Since it seems it's going to be your daily that will get old really quick.

If you've never taken a ride in a car with no sound deadening I'd do it before even considering stripping a daily.

eh not quite. i'me talking more like opening it differently, without using the latch then unlatching it from the front. if that made since... but thanx.

Get a Broadway mirror, greater visability, looks cool, and runs anywhere from 10-20 bucks depending on size.
