ok first im not truly sure if i should be posting a project since well... it's going to be over soon, only reason is cause im going broke. HA

OK moving on. I'm pretty much at a good starting point right now.

9/12/08- Got my Greddy Type-S coilovers on and ready to rock. 9/17/08- Circuit Sport Tensions rods and Pilot Strut bars came in.9/18/08- Jacked up car and installed front strut bar.

Work done:- tein tie rods- used front lower control arms- refurbished rack and pinion- new brake rotors and pads all the way around- nismo transmission mount- Nismo Power Brace- Took huge Tach off- some other things...

To come:- installing cheap but better then stock speaker.- steam clean carpet- replacing timing chain- sway bar endlinks- replace pads and rotate rotors- other stuff later.

Will get some Pics up soon. sorry guys didn't get pics of strut bar and coilovers being put on. the coilovers are so comfortable!!!! they ar badass, when i first put them on my dad told me they are awesome but to stiff for him (they were on 31 one away from stiffest). also the car is actually leveled, when i had the sportlines the rear was way higher then the front but now the rear is lower then the front but the rocker panels are leveled to 1-3mm from front and back.

also anyone know how to get grease off paint?? i have greasy fingerprints on my front bumper and engine bay paint, and it's getting annoying.

how do you like the greddy coils. i mean, they're not too popular on here, and just wondering how they're treating you.

looks like it's coming along. any preferences with the build? i.e. track/drift/drag?

aw man the greddy's are awesome, but that's me and also take into consideration that i've never been in any other car with coilovers. the stiffest isn't that stiff it's actually pretty confortable but the softest it stiff but allot more ridablity (sp?). but i had a choice of the HKS hypermax coilovers or these, the HKS were out of stock and these were instock so of course i went for these. and also the stroke doesn't change when you lower the car so that was a plus in the eyes of me and my dad's.

The build is for me to learn... basically. it's going to be a street/smog legal build for me to use as a daily driver + weekend track/drift. i'm sticking with the KA-E, i've really grown to like it allot.

Oh yeah i was doing my firt 3 wheeling going up a driveway yesterday, scared the **** out of me!

I really have to ask. i had my ebrake on while i was driving and when i was driving i noticed a power loss and i saw my ebrake on. now i took it off when i drove and i drove around to cool the brakes off. now once i got home i parked the car left the ebrake off and put it into gear. i get out and the brakes smell burnt like hell and the are now smoking. my parents told me to drive around a little more to cool it off. now everytime i drive it, it smells like the brake are burning. now will that go away??

eh it goes away eventually. I drove my car with the rear brakes stuck (was forced to drive in order to not be stuck in the middle of nowhere). It goes away after a while, specially when you finish the pad and start scraping the rotor. XD

the gap looks bad but the rock panels and the front and rear are almost equally off the ground.
pandapants wrote:is that as low as the greddys go?
no i was thinking about seeing how low they go but then i thought i wouldn't be able to get the jack out from under the car. and plus it low enough for me right now. just need to find the right stiffness...

parents gone to Vegas and tomorrow im doing the throttle body and rear strut... what did some of you guys do about putting the rear strut bar in?? i know mine won't fit in that small *** hole. i was thinking about asking my neighbor to help me out and take off the "carpet" around the shock tower.

well Update!!Sat. before hanging out with teddy and some koo dudes and having a CCRAAAZZZZYY night i cleaned, or tryed to at least, my throttle body.and of course i didn't forget about you guys. pics!

getting ready

items i used

now this took FOREVER!!!!

finally got it off! i just set it aside as is in the pic and left it.

before:

After:

I sprayed the fluid and used a toothbrush and tryed to scrub some of the gunk out/off and used the shirt (in pic) to wipe the TB down and celan most of it out. i didn't think i did a really good job but hey it don't stick no more!!!

And for today:i took off the passenger door panel to put new speakers in (they really sound like crap) and noticed they are kenwood with tweeters. so ima wait till parents get home to see whats up with how it sounds. Clarion head unit with Kenwoods all the way around.

so i put the door back on and decided i don't want to clean the crap on the fabric on the door. soo... i took it of and armer-alled it and personally i really like it.

and while i was at it i detailed (or tried to at least) the rest of the leather?? or vinyl??

and can't forget the free $100 momo shift knob.

well that it more to come later.

I cleaned my TB too when I got my S13, and it was pretty hard to clean the insides of it, but at least it doesn't stick anymore. I also retightened my throttle cable, feels better.

Also, Please take that tach off, ASAP! :D

yeah why?? it's a momo. my neighbor gave it to me, he told me he bought it for $100 and if you look at most momo's they're about 95-100.

update 11/14ok so i haven't really updated this build in a while.

I have gotten my Nardi wheel on! the thing is small but i'v since gotten used to it and i love it!!! lets see... oh i took off the rear wing and wiper.

last week, i believe, i took my car to the canyons and just drove not that hard just really a fast cruise since there were allot of bicyclists on the road. Once i was at the end where there was a stop sign i tried to stop and my brakes went out. The car kept on rolling while it slowed to a stop and i was pressing hard on the pedal. So i told my parents and my dad just told me go to my neighbor and get some brake pads from his company. I did and now i have new pads, the brakes are Sumitomo's, and i have to wait after thanksgiving to put them in since i'm going to Pennsylvania for a funeral. hopefully i don't glaze the pads again...

that's it for now can't wait for other things to come about!!!!!

12/12ok so a little update. I've gotten some Advics Brake pads, they are both Sumitomo and Denso. now my dad's friend's son told me that it could be the rotors problem for my brakes going out in high heat.

besides that i have a timing chain problem, had it for awhile now and during the winter/Christmas break i'll be having soon i'm going to be changing the chain. so i'm going to take a week out of my 3 weeks to work on my car. After i'm done with the timing chain i'm replacing the spark plugs and wires and finally dropping the car, not slammed but oh well. Also i took off my lip and found that the whole thing is messed up!! so i'm fiberglassing and bondoing it back together. and maybe get my car up to par...

also i wanted to know if i ever got a chance to rebuild the motor, should i go for a master rebuild kit? or replacing bearings, .20 overbore pistons, seals, anything you would add to this list please do. all i was thinking i could get the comp pistons from the older engines (9 or 9.1:1 comp but a .20 overbore) ,the colt cams from PDM racing (mild upgrade), oem (or close to it) bearings, and just cleaning upthe rest of the engine. now also could i do a slight port and polish or would it not really help??

12/22I'm getting my timing chain replacement kit in soon (hopefully) and also a gasket kit. so I'll be having fun doing a few things while I'm sick right now.

I took off my Lip to do some repairing to it. fiberglassing the plastic piece that attaches to the front bumper to back of the lip. also the timing chain. and maybe fiberglass and bondo the rear wing holes and windshield wiper holes. possible lift repair. mild tune up: spark plugs, wires, clean air filter, clean throttle body, etc etc. that's about it...for now. it might be a new engine when it's finished!! I'm going to be happy! oh and lower it.

12/26I got my timing chain replacement kit in the day before Christmas Eve and got to it right when my dad got home. well all and all it's sounds to good to be true on paper, but DAMN it's hard as hell if you don't have a lift LOL! Got the intake, hoses, fan shroud loosened and un "bolted" (there were no bolts just zipties), radiator drained, and that's it HAHA, damn sounds like i didn't do allot of work for 4 hours...ghey.

oh and anyone else have a 1 piece fan shroud?? because i think i have one...

12/28So i finished my 4th day and uh 12th hour on replacing my timing chain. it's been fun truly!! and also very frustrating!so about 6 tonight i get the timing chain assembly off and tomorrow getting ready and hopefully get the engine back together and running correctly.

Uh is this a one piece fan shroud?? if not then how do you get the upper part from the bottom part??

This is where i was last night

Work space

This was a *****!!!

And this is my next project

not sure if this'll fix it but hey i'm down to try anything to get that sag out

lol yeah i don't think my car is a SE model, i mean yeah it has the wing, lip, power everything except for sunroof.

UH motor work... i've been on this for awhile. I've been thinking about a CARB legal or smog legal set up. OEM 9.1:1 90mm overbore pistons/rings, .20 overbore, PDM mild cam, port and polish, adjustable cam gear from Nissan, higher 5th gear ratio, pulley set, new oil pan (mines dented to hell), stainless steel exhaust valves, rod bearing, maybe new OEM rods. that's about it really maybe other stuff, i love the Single Slammer it's just i want some more response/ power out of it but be able to smog and legally street the car.

um, me and my neighbor suspect it's a suction cup thingy to hold like a GPS holder there... or i dunno.

ah the good stuff a lot of people overlook stuff like that. replacing valves, pistons and such counts as maintenance along with performance. good plan man, once i get my ole "stealth fighter" running again i'll probably go mad scientist on it haha
