Honostly i dont really care either way and i think they are both good looking. The only thing that pisses me off is the ugly a** convertables that were made. I cant stand them. So i'll just take a fb and go away in peace.

i like them both aswell, i've owned a s13 coupe, and now a s14, but i love the look of the old s13's still, the fastback is a nice looking car when moded and lowerd, think of it this way, atlest you don't own a honda :spam

PS, MOD's your puke face doesn't work, it just does this....:puke

hatchbacks will always look more sporty than coupes....coupes look almost like an old integra, what with the ugly a** tail lights and all...:D

The difference in looks FAR out-weights the difference in performance.

the Shilla Eighty is better looking than both though.

HB HB HB HB. The coupe is dissapointing when you look at the back end, it looks like someone put a hatchback on the chopping block.

The coupe is one of those things you have to grow to love- I know I love my hatch and always will..it has a very pleasing line that isn't cut(coupe means cut in french..btw)...the coupe looks like as someone stated above...a hatch on the chopping block....i also think the coupes look ten times better with projectors...and the hatchs should have pop ups...don't flame me..i like my popups

Why would a heavyer car with more chassis flex be better for drifting?
Well drifting is not about chassis flex is it. It is about Weight distribution and from my understanding a fastback has better weight distribution than coupe. And with strut tower bars and a decent suspension, we can stiffen up our chassis to be equal or surpass the rigidity of a coupe.

Just my $0.02 and BTW fastbacks are Better that why we are winning :D

I've driven both. I like my FB better, especially for road racing because the back end holds on better stock for stock. After driving my friend's coupe, I can see where it might be easier break the back end free with it being stiffer and all. But personally, I'd prefer a properly powered FB. You still get the excellent weight distribution, it runs well for road racing, and with the right power it is just as easy to start and maintain a drift. And if all you want to do is drift, you can get a rear STB to make the rear stiffer than a coupe.

We can argue about applications 'till we're blue in the face, but for both cars, there are things you can do to make them more equal(STB for FB, weight balance for coupe). IMHO, it comes down to two points:

-Which look do you like better?-Would you rather have the FB for cargo, or the decreased weight of the coupe?

Maybe I'm missing something, but that's what matters to me :)

IMHO, coupes actually look like a sports car. FB's are like bubbles or sumthin.

I agree with you Moving Violation

I have a coupe, so i'm biast, i like the way they look. I wanted a FB at first, but couldn't find one, i do agree the FB '89/90' are nice looking with the different front fascia, and they are shorter. I think the Sil-Eighty is the best by far---the best of both worlds i think. And yes SpeedRacer1, the convertible is OOOOoooGLY! Probably because it's such a waste of a perfectly good car.

Another thing is that s13 coupes are more of a rarity than FB's, nice to see them tricked out. I don't understand a coupe looking less of a sports car, to me the FB's are more functional in appearance. Oh and i can fold my rear seats down, so how can coupes carry less? Seems they can carry the same amount to me. Only difference is, is that the FB has a bubble.

I don't mine the convertibles. You do just have to under stand that the convertible top looks different than the coupe's. I've actually already narrowed down too 3 cars that will be bought if my 240 doesn't make it anytime: '94 SE Conv, mid '90s NSX, or MotoRex GT-R.

The conv is kinda rare that is what appeals to me.

What are you refering to--"slushbox". And yeah I do like them because they are different. But as of now I have R33 (maybe R34) GT-R set in my mind as my next sports car.

I actually have automatic now. It will go if SR or KA-T comes in. I still beat the average ricer. A conv auto transmission can be easily replaced.

see, if i had a 5-speed right now, i'd be really glad i didn't buy the '94 i was lookin at, cause of the automatic. but, my baby came w/ that POS auto. but fear not, its gettin swapped out sometime in the future. i'm tired of the relatively "boring" driving:( Ben '95 SE

At the time they were consider by some ppl a kinda fancy sports car for rich parents to buy their kids and for some wives to have to play around in. I mean my car brand new was over $24K; in '92 that was an insane amount of money for a 4cyl w/o leather.

I say hatch all the way ;)

although I wouldn't mind owning a coupe, I just prefer the HB.

especially sil80.. which is my future plan for my 91 hatch.

I like the HB, one because I drive one, and two it just looks better in my opinion..

The coupe is a cool car no doubt, 'cuz it's a 240, but to me after the front fender it turns into a sedan type thing.. Not really the best way to describe it but I just have a weird feeling aboot it..

For instance, I look at my car and I get a tingle in my pants, I look at the coupe and it's nothin ;)

Hehe.. Um yea so anyways, I wanna do a silvia front end conversion on my black 93 hb.. it would look pretty sweet I think :)

It's not a freakin' sedan! It's a coupe! D@mmit! You fastback freaks can kiss my @zz! No WAY is the fastback better, regardless of popular opinion. Who goes drifting (and I don't mean in your dreams) here anyway? Yeah, Silvia's suck for drifting. Have you ever seen a drifter's car? It's generally a piece of s***. The only reason fastbacks are getting more votes is because there are more of them. All fastbacks :bowdown to my Juniper Green '92 notchback. It rules. All the hot MILF's love it and wanna ride in it.

My notchback beats on other cars all the time and wins every race. Wanna know why? Because it's "Built For the Human Race". Yep. It says it right on the window sticker. I knew it was fast for a reason!

I gotta go cruise for chicks now.

In my area the convertables and coupes are not rare at all, the ratio of coupes to hatches here is like 4:1.

I have to say HB. When i was buying i would not even consider the coup. it just does not look right to me. i like smooth flowing lines and the coup does not have the lines. That and i just love hatchbacks. my last car was a 1984 honda crx.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I didn't mean that the coupe carries that much less. The interior volume should only be a little less (because of the bubble like you said). What I meant is that the FB can carry far LARGER items because it has more continuous space. When you fold the seat down in a FB, you have a huge area to work with and a very large opening. When friends and family see what I can fit into my car they are shocked.

With the coupe, even with the seat folded down, you are still restricted by the rear window and trunk ceiling. I can fit boxes into my FB that a coupe owner would have to borrow a pickup to move.
