Greg- That is true, could be a can of worms, but here in the next few days I will post my Q45 inspection list that I made... I am very cautious, and there is no deal with this Q should there be any problems they will be fixed... So the idea for me is to not HAVE to put money into it immediaitely...

Wow  talk about a touchy subject.

For those that don't know, Wes won't be rushing into anything. He's doing ALOT of research on all the potential new Q's. He's expecting to spend the $1000 on Joe's kids college fund ... I mean parts from Joe :D.

Good luck Wes, someone will be a happy camper.

Just to let you know Rex.... I talked with the guy over the phone and he's going to get estimates on fixing the dent, fixing the PS, and fixing the DVD player (he siad if it cant be repaired it will be replaced)..

So basically he's gonna fix everything before I buy it so I can at least drive it for the rest of the year with no money required...

Sounds like most Q's end up being a money pit. I had my money pit (240sx). It ended up costing too much money and time. Decided to get a nice car with low miles (02 cougar). Might not be a rocket or anything, but its sure nicer than my 240 is. I still have the 240, and odnt even wanna drive it cuz the cougar is that much nicer. Also, a warranty till the car reaches 88K (at 28k now) makes it that much sweeter.

I disagree... A 240 is a MONEY PIT if it doesnt run right, the Q is a $50,000 luxury car that must be maintained...

I can honestly say right now that most Q only need fluid changes to stay RUNNING... Its if you want them to run RIGHT is the difference....

The way I justify it is Im driving a car that was once worth $50,000, and my only cost is to maintain it... It seems like a DEAL to me, to drive a luxury car like this for only a couple hundred a month (average, last 2 months have cost me nothing but gas)

I love the way that we as Q owners need to justify our "maintenance of these vehicles." I love the way this car drives in comparison to many vehicles. The car does have an excellent fit and finish. The funny thing is that basically all Q's have the same problems/glitches. IE: sunvisors, chain guides, ripped or worn drivers seat and armrest and some other small ones.

I do agree though that if you are looking for a car to simply gas and push around town aimlessly or an A to B vehicle the Q is not for you. You have to want the luxury and power of this car. You must appreciate the fact that your early 90's car can fly by some new cars on the road.

If you want the A to B feel, then get a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry. Atleast with these you can get the leather package and atleast feel some taste of luxury. Oh sorry I forgot about one of my favorite cars the 1994 maxima. I had one pearl white with tan leather and loved it.

The third-gen Maximas are excellent cars. Even with the automatic, they can really get moving. Plus theyre reasonably roomy and quiet. If I was looking for a no-nonsense daily driver, that would be near the top of my list.

I think your 94 Q is very nice car... seriously! My friend had green 97 Q45, but I like my G50 based Q much better. Y33 is good choice only if it's 99-2001 models (better if it's touring or Aniversary models). Comes with "moon roof", analog clock, HID headlamps, etc, etc...Go for it!

My plan for a Y33 would be, id try to swap in a 99 trunk lid and center console (dont like hte idea of infiniti sans analog clock), and I could probably find some junk headlights too...

I am going to hopefully meet up with one of our NICO members here and drive their Y33 before I drive a long ways to test one.....

Very true. I had a 91 SE with the pearl white exterior and a five speed. Great car... even held up wonderfully when I totaled it :(

Nothing like a hole in the back sidewall of your left front tire at 70 MPH. New Michelins too, but it was a road hazard issue... took it backwards and sideways over three lanes of traffic - up a hill - through a fence backwards, and didn't even have a scratch (on me). The car was totaled, but just barely - more of a favor to me from the body shop and insurance adjustor. I told them I'd never take it back, they'd always be fixing something... think they got the message :D

Correct, there are substantial safety and other upgrades to the 1999 and even 2000 FY33. 2001 was only a trim upgrade to the ae interior as standard.

Hey, that better not be the can that I gave you. I hope you do fine with your new Q venture.

That is a pristine Q, I don't see how it could get any nicer with the age and miles on the car..

Hmm. I would get any Q that did not require the costly timing guide replacements. The first gens may be fast but the timing chain guides are just a bomb waiting to explode.

I'm not digging the forest green on the 94-96 body style though. Personal preference of course.

If I got a G50-B, it would be crimson, pearl white, or black. Would also look nice in a navy blue with gold trim.

That would also include any 90-93 that has had the guides done. It's a one time fix, not an ongoing repair ... unless done incorrectly, but that can apply to any repair on any car.

Wait a second, Is Wessy going German. I have a buddy with a 99 740il. I drove it waiting to be blown away and I found that it didn't drive that much better than my Q. But the cool thing is if you get the 740il, and not the 740i, the 740il has a more rear leg room. Much better than a G50 in the rear leg room department.

I love the mid 90s S-class, truly the cream of the crop back then. I love how you can gently close the door and it automatically seals itself shut -- quietly and gracefully. No slamming necessary. But you will get raped on parts -- no lube. And it lacks the attitude of the Q45 and 7-series.

The profile of "enthusiastic golfer who likes fine automobiles" matches the following vehicles:Q45BMW 7-SeriesCadillac CTSLand Rover Discovery

The Benz is better suited for bankers, rich wives, and southeast asians (I swear, go to Thailand - the overwhelming luxury car of choice is the S-class). The Jag is for lawyers and folks in real estate.

Most Volvos and Saabs of course are FWD, and only dentists who happen to be fanatical trekkies seem to buy them.

And interestingly, nothing from Buick. Sorry Tiger. :P
