Yes its true.. I really want to sell the Q this time... :)

I will get the service records all posted on my website and pictures..... But I just wanted to put this out there and mods, if this could stay in infiniti general for a little while before it gets moved to the BST forum.....

Heres the basic details:

1994 (.5) Q45. Built in 5/94, so its safe to say that its one of the last 94s made, since Ive seen a few 95s built in June and july...

Everyone probably knows what all has been done to the car...

Tokico shocks and all suspension rubber in front and a lot of stuff replaced in the rear..... FSTB, spark plugs, rear diff fluid, Full plenum job done with KS. Those are the big items, other than transmission maintenace... I will get a full history posted up here soon...

This Q runs perfect, and theres no doubting it. EVERYTHING about its running condition is as new if not better than new (with the new suspension)... Runs perfect 50-80 times... From a stop, I ran a 5.1sec yesterday with a 70*F ambient... That is LIGHTNING fast...

My price is 6500 OBO..

Now I really want this car to go to a NICO member, so if it does heres what the buyer will get:

Before possession, it will get a full detail, cleaning, a new coat of NuFinish, i will fix a large scratch in the rear, I will perform the ATF trick a few times to help sort of clean up the engine a tad.. Its a bit dirty, but really its not much worse (if any) than any other Q ive seen with even known good service... Key is to use synthetic oil, and that brings me to my next offer... You get we'll say 2 cases of mobil 1 synthetic of your choice in weight...

have you fixed the EGR,replaced the underbody engine sheild,or permanently cured the low oil pressure issue at startup yet?if not, will these items be addressed before selling,or the asking price reduced to reflect the needed repairs? also what about the poor condition of the leather on the front seats?will that be handled beforehand?I have a co-worker in the market for a G50,so thought I would ask!For your asking price, the car would need all these items repaired to be competitive with what is available locally.

Q ship. Good questions, ill go in order...

No, EGR hasnt been fixed but I drove 200 miles to/from cincy yesterday with no CEL, so its more/less intermittant...

No the engine underbelly has not been replaced. About half the Q ive seen and inspected are missing this for one reason or another.. I dont think anyone would notice that missing and I certainly havent... have never had any problems with dirt and stuff getting up in there, and Ive been through the worse of it (huge puddles, snow, ice, etc)

Low oil pressure is not really an issue... I think part of my problems was using a different oil weight... Like I said, I will do everything in my power to make sure its as clean as I can get it before owner takes charge of it... Right now when i start from cold the light stays on for about half a second and i havent gotten any valve tapping for about 3 weeks...

If you want, you can find the parts on any of this stuff and I will do free installation.. EGR solenoid I refuse to pay $60 when i could pull it from a junk Q for like $10 and install in 10 mins...

the leather is bad but its not so bad it would prevent someone from buying the car... that will not be addressed, but I can give you a lead to fix the front seats to look good for about $300... If I am going to do it I would go wiht a full interior... However the seat BACKS and the rear seats are in very nice condition only showing minor wear......

Just so I got this straight...you are trying to sell your car for enough money that you can afford another car that will require perhaps as much time and money as what you've already put into the one you now own?

Well here's my situation...

I really shouldnt have got my Q to start with, from a cosmetic stand point..... So right now im looking at 800 for full interior, and a LOT more for paint work.... So lets say to get this newer Q needs $1000 in mechanicals, and just a little in cosmetics (one I looked at could use some new door panels)... To me it doesnt seem like keeping my Q for cosmetic perfection is the wise choice...

Another point here: While Ive done a lot of work, I could have taken a shorter route. Would everything be as complete as it is, NO but it would be close... So my loss is your gain...

This car is for someone who can appreciate a well maintained and perfect running Q45, and can either financially deal with cosmetic issues or just not care enough..... Im for perfection, and I can fix mechanical stuff pretty easy... $1000 will go a LONG way in fixing up a car mechanically since labor is free.....

BTW.. Joe, I have started a college fund for your kids :D

$ 1000.00 will go a long way towards reclearcoating your present car, logically.GUYS: LOGIC? Wes needs a new adventure. Q-wise anyway. It sure beats knockin' up some broad, and getting your heart ripped out. Ahhhh... remember those days???? ...to be young again...

It's all about priorities. I know summer is here and a nice ride is cool. But he's in high school and going to college in a year--how's that for a new adventure? Priorities might change. A pristine car might make you feel good but it isn't as functional as a computer/software upgrade, textbooks, a nice chair for the dorm (or home), a full tank of gas or even a snack when you're hungry. IMO it's much better to have cash on hand when you need it than to be a poor student with a shiny car. A reliable car has a lot of value.

The cost of the parts that were just put on is probably over $1k...new suspension, plenum hoses, knock sensors, plugs, etc. Assume these will have to be done on any Q you buy--most people don't replace these right before selling the car. Add on a fuel pump, alternator and/or A/C compressor, and the bank account bleeds red really fast.

I've owned about 10 or 11 different cars in the last few years. I always got bored easily (until now).

The crimson Q is great, but the work required on the body isn't.

Found one!

1991 Q45 with 85k on the transmission and chassis, but only 38k on the engine. Updated chain guides were used from Day 1 on the motor. Regular synthetic oil changes at 3,000 miles. Dealer maintained only with all service records. It's had the upper links, all 4 shocks, all suspension rubber replaced. It has a new fuel pump and the entire A/C system was replaced less than 6k miles ago. The leather is in great condition and the body has one minor sratch on the trunk lid, which can easily be buffed out.

Where is this car? In my parking space. Bought it for 6100.

Now where's that drink? :D

Nick,

I really wanted to look you up to see that beast while I was in Kansas earlier this month, but with the parents in tow and needing to be at the airport in less than two hours when I hit the KC area, it just didn't happen. It's scary to think what I would have done to drive a pristine Q in the middle of my 10 day visit to Iola KS!

I feel for ya Heath. Iola is what east-coast people think of when they hear "Kansas". Fortunately my time is split between Wichita and Lawrence.

Another option is for me to get Corey's 94 Q45a with the engine swap, assuming that goes through...

Q45a with fresh (and maybe built up) engine, seems a no brainer for me.... I will post up pictures about this IPQ that I went and looked at, in a few mins...

Also, when I post pictures of my Q i will have videos of my 0-80 times so you can time it and see exactly how good its running.....

I'd be considering that non-running active Q on ebay and swap the engines.

Werd. My ultimate goal would be to have a first-gen active Q with a brand-new suspension. :D

I would look at your priorities wes. College starts up soon, thats why i went out and bought a newer car that is reliable. Ur gonna want to have extra money around so you can do things instead of fixing ur car.

He's right. That's why I bought my Q because I will able to drive it for a while without problems. My 255k one was a dream, but too much time and $$$ to maintain for a college kid like me.

Well, it depends on how big of a handout your parents are giving you. If my parents werent covering so many of my expenses, I'd be driving the Accord I sold to get my Q.

My parents are giving me no handout.. Maybe a "transitional loan" but nothing beyond that... And I wouldnt expect anything.....

A Y33 Q isnt out of the question. I can get 97/98 for under 9k with 100-120k.....

Wes

I have the perfect solution for you, knowing your entusiasm for the Q. Why don't you by an active suspension model which needs fixing. You should be able to pick one up for a lot less than $6500 and I can guarentee you would enjoy restoring the suspension with Texasoils recharged accumulators. Then you would be able to experience the ultimate in Q 45 ride and handling. I absolutly love mine and would never consider converting to standard as I feel compelled to preserve this great car. Just think in a few years you would have one of thr rarest luxury cars in existance
