Sorry I am not selling mine but I still think you should try to find one as the wait will be worth it in the long run. Have you tried autotrader or maybe a NICO member is willing to sell one that needs the suspension restoring

I'm inclined to agree with Rover3l. If youre gonna let a mechanically sound Q go, you might as well opt for one with active suspension. If youre gonna move, move up!

But at least there's a good chance you'll enjoy the distinction of having the nicest [student] car on campus no matter what Q you buy.

Wes, why do you want a Y33? Have you driven one? Would you be happy with that? It's slower, but I'm sure it's no slouch. I know this is stupid, but I hate the big, clunky, auto shift knob in the Y33. I also dont like the fact that they took away the gated shifter.

A 97 would be faster than a 96, but the overall change is so drastic. I could go from my previous Mazda 929 or M-Benz to a Y33 no problem. But G50 to Y33 is a bit of a leap.

Well I may head out to cincy again here, so if so that Y33 is at a dealer in cincy so I may just go ahead and take a look at it...

Louie- I agree in all counts, and I am certainly not too interested in a Y33, but like I said I havent RULED it out...

hehe, get a job at T3... I will take over the legacy that is Q45tech.. that would be golden, but I dont know if Ive said this. I like working on cars and such, but not something i could do daily...

Wes: You've developed an unhealthy automotive obsession... sooner or later it will get in the way of having a successful life. You really need to chill and spend no more than 2 hours a day in front of the computer.

There are so many more things to spend time and money on, esp. in college. For most of us college is the most fun we'll ever have. Prepare yourself to enjoy it.

Keep the Q you have and take care of it.

For once Greg makes sense. Wes; finish what you got and get it out of the way. We all know you are smart enough to finish it up. Dump it off if it is holding you back and keep it a secret. telling what you think allows others to interject their fears onto your decisions, their fears are their fears and not your fears, don't allow their fears to influence your decisions, for their fears are not yours. I can say that truthfully. Ask me or Fred for an explanation.

I went from my Dad's 92' to my 97 and have exactly ZERO problems doing it. You guys sometimes crack me up like the 2nd Gen is some kind of 4 cylinder econo box. Franklyi I love my 97 and I wouldn't take back my 92 over just for that little extra kick. I love the quiet ride, it is NOT slow, come one, maybe not ulta fast but I have kept up with LS400, LS430, GS400's all day long. On the way to the airport just yesterday a BMW 3 series pissed me off going through a 45 mile per hour freeway merge (the 280 south to 380 east for those Bay Area folks). Let's just say he nailed it, I nailed it, and he got a big mouth of dust. Of course the wife was not pleased as we came out of the turn at 90, but guys, PLEASE, there is a reason that the Y33 sold, it is a nice car, has plenty of power and has every nice option you could want.

I am with BadQ45t. They are different, that's all. The drop off is virtually unnoticed at less than wide open throttle. There are some things the FY33 does better, there are some things a G50 does better.

In any case, anyone looking for a two ton hot rod is missing the point of each car. Get a lighter car that isn't so predisposed towards luxury if you want to go fast all the time, and get a good attorney.

A pristine car might make you feel good but it isn't as functional as a computer/software upgrade, textbooks, a nice chair for the dorm (or home), a full tank of gas or even a snack when you're hungry. IMO it's much better to have cash on hand when you need it than to be a poor student with a shiny car. A reliable car has a lot of value.

Who's priorities yours or Wes's? Are your fears yours or his? Who are you to speak of what he should do? Is it your life? Or is it his to learn from? Will you save him monetarily if that which you speak of is incorrect? Is this not of freewill? Your mistakes in your life have been yours, what would you have learned if your mistakes were all spoken for and directed? Would you have learned ? Wes is one of the smartest young MEN I've seen and respected in many years: Why suppress his desires? They don't fit your schema? Are you a control freak? Read some Ayn Rand and figure out what freewill/self -determination is. Lay off. What is it with you Engineers????????? Some god complex? WTF !!!!!!!

I'm not sure what it is with us engineers. Maybe you can ask Wes in 5 years, since he has expressed a desire to head into that field. You are overreacting to something, and I don't really care what it is, just keep it to yourself.IMO = "In my opinion"

Well, since everyone seems to be talking about priorities, I have one thing to add. Wes, if you go away to college, I am pretty certain that you will be required to live on campus for at least your freshman year, maybe even your sophmore year. Most schools also do not allow Freshman to have cars on campus. This is all of course if you don't go to a local school like Ball State, IUPUI, Anderson or Butler where you can live at home and drive to school everyday.

Good holy [diety].... I post an ad for my Q and I get all this!! Well at least I have people somewhat concerned about me :)

Allow me to clarify something: THIS IS A CAR! Its pretty insignificant in the big picture... At worse its a $6000 transaction, while thats a lot of money, its not THAT much (life changing)... if I were talking about getting a used $20,000 car or something like that, itd be a different ball game... But if I sell my Q AT WORSE Ill be looking at about $1000 extra for maintenance, and I got that right now in cash... Also if I were asking for an opinion I would have posted a thread "Do you think i should do this". And Ive pretty much made up my mind at this point, now the question is WILL I SELL IT? If I dont, eh who cares I keep it and sell it the next go-around..

My brother will be driving here in 2 years (he'll have his liscense in 2 years) so even if I dont use the car, he will take over maintenacne on it (i assume, assuming he doesnt go rice) and such..

If this were really that dumb of a move trust me I woudnt do it NOR would my parents let me do it! BTW Greg, cars arent my life... yes I do spend a lot of time on NICO (more than I should, have to ween myself before school starts), but I do have a job, friends (outside NICO), and I play golf on a regular basis... I I dont really think about my car a lot outside NICO. I appreciate it and think about thigns I could do to it, but other than that its a hunk of metal in my driveway that takes me places (very expensively).....

Wes,

You shoulda expected a reaction posting it in Infiniti General. :) Your car is famous around here.

Why don't you go ahead and post another "for sale" thread in BST. It'll get more looks and the thread will be focused more on the sale and less on the why.

Nick :)

Sounds like you have things in perspective..... but I seriously doubt you'll find another Q that only needs $1000 worth of work. Do you think anyone driving a paid-for top-of-the-line car would opt to get rid of it just because it needs $1000 of brake pads and rotors (or shocks, or A/C work, or 60K service)?

A new car is opening a can of worms. Just because you had a good experience with your Q doesn't mean the next one will be the same.

First I would like to say some of the posts have gone way off topic and a little personal. The bottom line of it is that if he wants to sell the car then fine. Maybe he is bored with it, maybe he just wants to try something different.

I understand where he is coming from. I am 24 years old and this q is my tenth car since 1999. I have had a mazda 929 and must say that I didnt like the experience. If I am going to spend money I would rather a sport luxury v8. The 929 was too slow and parts were ridiculous. The y33 Q is a nice LUXURY car. The G50 is a nice SPORT LUXURY CAR. I have drive a y33 it does feel a little tighter inside compare to the G50 but it has a different target. It was meant for the luxury side.

He is still young and I am sure that since he is even in the thought of going to college he will have no problems there. It is up to him what and how he wants to balance things in his life. I also agree that at the end of the day a car is transportation and ultimately a bill.

At the end of the day a fast comfortable car (the Q) is a release from stress. A Civic is transportation! :)
