Cool I hope they are able to work it out, I would love to see some pics. also where did you get the mrrors and how much did you pay?azeiler wrote:I recently bought some mirror covers with blinkers. When I have them installed, I'll ask if they can make the fogs also light up with the running lights. And if I remember to bring my camera, I'll take pictures.
So, in principle, if we just cut the 12v power that goes to the fog lights right now and splice it into the 12v wire for the DRL (little light bulb in the headlight) we'll be good to go? I can do this, but I'm just worried the draw will be too great.mexillis wrote:I'm pretty sure all you'd have to do is tap into what ever light switch you want them to turn on with. IE if you want them to turn on with the parking lights, tap into them by running another set of wires from the fog lights to the parking lights. You can consider it as sharing the power & switch. That's how i hooked up my LED eyebrows.
That's how I did it on the Maxima. In the Maxima world though, we cut a wire close to the relay and then run a wire from the bumper lights to that wire (which I'm guessing is the Fog relay).infiniti_lineup wrote:IlyaKol,
I currently have over 30v flowing from the parking lights on each side. At first I was worried about the excess amount of power and if a fuse would be blown, but I didn't experience any problems, there wasn't even any over-heating in the wiring.
I'm not well educated on the electrical design of the fog lights so I can't comment to much on them, but I believe that cutting the power wire coming INTO the fog lights and then using spare wire to bring that power wire into the parking lights should work. You will have to cut some protective wiring enclosure on the parking lights to access enough of the power wire, but other than that you won't have any other surprises.
And, as a side-note, Canadian Infiniti M's have their headlights wired differently than United States sold Infiniti M's, which might explain the picture mentioned above (with the DRL's and fogs running).

Can't we just wire it up so it always has ground then? Or would that mean we wouldnt' be able to turn off the fog lights when the car is on (whether your switch be set on OFF, AUTO, CORNERS, or LIGHTS)?mgokool wrote:Re: fog lights only

Here is the jist of the Maxima DIY:
1) Locate 12v wire of the fog light relay
2) Cut wire, leaving enough room on the relay side to splice a wire onto it
3) Splice in a 3ft wire or so into that now cut relay 12v wire
4) Run this new wire to the bumper light and connect it to the red/blue wire (I'm assuming this one was also 12v, it's been years since I did this mod).
5) Tape up, put together, etc.
**** PROBLEM WITH THIS WRITEUP IS****:
On the 06+ M, the fog relay which is located in the distribution box behind the battery is a (-)ground trigger...I found the relay, and upon testing the terminals I noticed that it has (+)power running through it constantly...when you turn on the fog light switch, (-)ground is applied which clicks the relay to send (+)power to the last remaining terminal on the relay which supplies power to the fog lights!
And thats where I got stumped...![]()
Let us know man. I'd love to be able to have 'independent fogs' (as we called it in the Maxima world). Try to see if he can make it so they stay on with the high beam. I have HID's in my fogs and I hate that the ballast has to turn off/on when I flash my highs, etc. It's going to kill the life of my HID kit.mgokool wrote:if you ground it the they would always be on...I couldnt find a parking light relay to see if it has the same setup....if it did, in essence would just have to run the ground over to the ground trigger and we'd be set...
However a friend of mine said theres a way to do it from under the column by adding a seperate relay...he'll be doing it on sat morning...i'll try and get pics and some directions....he works for an install shop and knows what he's doing...

Same thing. I'm just saying when you turn your highs on the fogs go off. You do this enough times, and it'll wear the ballast/bulb out faster.mexillis wrote:IlyaKol wrote:I have HID's in my fogs and I hate that the ballast has to turn off/on when I flash my highs, etc. It's going to kill the life of my HID kit.
what set up do you have? i also have HID fogs and the ballast automatically turns on when i turn on my fogs.
