I spoke to a friend over the phone and he told me that the NEG on the relay (is the trigger) is what turns on the foglight. the foglights always has POWER to them.

he told me that all that has to be done is find the NEG on the parking light relay.

Take the NEG off from the foglight relay.

then run a wire from the NEG parking light relay to the NEG side of the foglight relay.

so when you turn on your parking lights your foglights will also get the NEG (trigger) it needs to turn on without the headlights being on.

so now I have to find the parking & foglight relays location. after that all your doing is adding 1 wire from the parking light relay to the foglight relay.

I hope this helps

And you could still turn the fogs off with the switch by the steering wheel and leave JUST the corners on? Or have the high beams on?

sorry I didn't ask him that.

in this way when you turn on your parking lights your foglights will turn on too without the headlights being on.

also when you flash your highbeams your foglights may still be on, this would be good for those that have hid's in the fogs.

I would try it on my car if I could find both relays or maybe I'll just take it to a shop next week and get it done.

I'll have to look into where the relays are. If I can find them, I can do this and I'll make a write up. Does your friend have an electrical background or what? I had a couple of local car guys look at the schematics and they made it sound WAY (100x) more complicated. This sounds too easy to be true. They said the IPDM (Intelligent Power Distribution Module) is what makes it all crazy hard.

EDIT: LT-200 in my 2007 Factory Service Manual PDF shows the location of the Fog Light Relay being part of or in the IPDM (it's in a box in the picture with IPDM on the outside of the box). The IPDM is what the local guys said makes things extremely difficult.

The parking light relay is located in the front combination lamps (?). Can't really find it, but that's the only thing I saw with 'parking'.

The IPDM looks to be located just in front of the battery according to the pictures. You have to remove the cover obviously.

if I can find both relays I will take the car to a shop to see if it can be done some time next week.

if I'm allowed, I'll take pics and ask for step by step instructions.

The main thing we need is the locations. If they let you take pics or instructions, that's fine. I just need the locations and to know if it can be done. I can do the rest for everyone else (I did the oil change and one of the radio removal HowTo's).

And it's built in.

I think doing this on this car is futile. Why couldn't they do it like my Maxima. Everything was seperate. It's lights, why computerize everything?

WELL!? HOW!? :D

Come on man, details. I'll do the HowTo if you don't want to. Also, do your fog stay on with the high beams?

Anything affected on the car? Or is everything working good (IPDM not screwing with anything)?

I'm guessing he ordered the KP Technologies kit. Looks like a pretty simple install. And should be able to wire in a relay so that it would only work if the parking lights were on. That way you wouldn't accidently leave them on.

Was having technical difficulties last night, sorry.

Yeah my KP Technologies kit came in and I had a buddy of mine install it. The instructions are pretty straight forward. The BCM is on the passenger side of the car though, not on the left as stated in the instruction manual.

IlyaKol, no issues thus far. And yeah the fogs stay on when the high beams are engaged.

Mex, I am shocked and appalled that you think I'd make up such a thing lol. No worries though, I'll snap some night pics for ya. As for my bulbs looking weird, not sure what to tell ya. They're 4300K fogs if that helps at all..

Cool. Had in mind to take pics but I left my camera AND my friend was pressed for time, so it became a bit of a race against time.

Do know that this mod will void any warranty you have on your car since you're having to cut wires, if that's a concern to any

Okay, so gotta be smart about it then. I don't have warranty, but I plan on getting the elite warranty later this year or early next year. I'll just have to hide it better.

I'll do a write up when I do it. Can you post the link where you got it again?

Also, when you set your lights to just corner/running lights, if the fog switch is set to ON, to the fogs also come on? Or if you have everything off or in auto, do they work as they should (meaning off when everything is off, and on/off depending on what time day it is when set to auto)?

Exactly. Not sure how much you're going to be able to hide the cut wires or the module itself, but you can take a look once you're in there.

Yeah I can have just the corners on and seperately turn the fogs on/off. If you think about it, to have your fogs work with the auto setting, they have to be turned on. The only difference now is if it was light enough outside for the headlights to turn off via the auto switch, your fogs will now stay on

What I meant was during the day, in the AUTO position, do the fogs come on on a bright day? Or do they only come in when the rest of the lights come on (say in a tunnel)?

Meaning, do they still function as before...with the added ability to control them independently if wanted/needed.

No. The fogs now work completely independent of the headlights, corners/parking lights, and AUTO feature. If you want them on, you have to manually turn them on.

Darn. But that's kind of what I figured. I'll still do it probably.

Do they at least turn off with the car? lol.

It seems like there should be a way to wire this up so that the kit only has power when the parking lights are on. This would enable the Auto feature to still work.

If there is more than one wire...

Say a 12v that connects to something
Another 'hot' wire that connects to the fog circuit
And a ground wire...I don't see why we couldn't connect the 12v to the parking light circuit...

Maybe instead of connecting the Yellow wire to a +12vdc ignition source you could connect it to a +12vdc parking light circuit.
