Not prepared mentally or just not thinking .
Watch that second video I posted up.
In the middle of the video you hear them b****'n about the bikes riding the line.

Everyones gotta be careful about the road and the bikers and trucks up there.

When do you plan to leave for TN/NC for the meet? If we're leaving around the same time we could caravan down there. My group plans on leaving Friday afternoon (have to wait for one of my buddies to get off work).

First off hello. Secondly I am a noob to your forums. I am currently in Iraq and was dreaming of driving the dragon when I get back so I begin to browse the web and what do I find but your groups event. With your permission I would like to join in the festivities as I have already missed Z Dayz this year and would love to get back on the tail. I know it is probably too late to get a reservation at Fontana however I have stayed in Robinsville before and don't mind the drive. I will be bringing my 350z and also hopefully one of my friends will be coming in either a 240sx or 300zx NA. Although I read about having opened the event up to all NICO club members I am new and do not want to be stepping on anyone's feet by assuming that i will be welcome. Hope to see you all there.

I appreciate the invite. I will be coming from Columbia SC so it is not too far of a drive. If anyone else is driving up from that area let me know and maybe we can meet up.

Holy crap, wish I could go :(. Next year I should definitely be ready. Building an AWD RB26 powered S14 takes more time than the usual build. Like posted earlier for the folks that can't go, lots n lots of pics!

Itsgenx - why don't you bring out one of your other cars??

This isn't a RB only meet anymore.
Check the General thread.
So far we've got about 30 - 35 cars that I know of.
And not all of them are RBs.

My DD isn't reliable enough for those long trips anymore. 91' Honda Accord with 402k original miles and still kicking lol.

I'm not going to make it... but I greatly encourage you guys to not drive like a**holes on the Dragon or any of the other roads leading up there.
In the first post there was a comment "Turn in, break, yank the E, counter and power on."
If you try to drift the Dragon while others are on the road (especially bikes) you will have an exciting exchange with the locals that don't appreciate that kind of behavior.

1) Make sure your car is road worthy, I would recommend some better brake fluid (Motul 600 or ATE Super Blue) to be on the safe side. Also good tire tread, weather can change pretty quick in the mountains.

2) Stay in your lane, never cross into the oncoming lane. Ever.

3) Drive within your limits, don't let others around you pressure you to drive beyond your ability. I saw an S2000 go into side of the mountain because he was trying to keep up with his buddies.

4) Did I mention, stay in your lane?

5) Remember that it is a public road, and it is patrolled by cops. And they give tickets. Check local websites to see recent police officer activities (some weekends are heavier than others). http://www.dealsgap.com/ has a weekly update.

6) Watch out for semi's on the gap. They send people off the road regularly. Check the Tree of Shame for proof. Or watch this video--> http://vimeo.com/8092191 (Around the 3:50 mark).

I am just trying to help. It only takes one to spoil the bunch, and certain groups have bad reputations at the Gap. Please be respectful and safe when you guys go up there.
It really is paradise and makes me hate Florida (which is flat flat flat). Have fun guys :D

FYI I was able to reserve a lodge room for the three nights today 12 August and they did give me the group rate. They have had some cancellations (or so i was told on the phone) so if you have tried earlier and failed give it another shot unless you have reservations elsewhere. In addition do not trust the availability web page at http://www.fontanvillage.com, it said the room was unavailable when it was but a phone cal away. Hope this helps someone and hope to see you there. And to whoever is updating the list of who is coming, I will be +1 either 240sx or 300zx. Don't know what we will be bringing for the BBQ yet. Also PM me if you need cards for the p0ker run. I am in Iraq and we have a ton about to go to waste.

One more thing for anyone who still cannot get a room. Robbinsville NC is just down the road and there is a very small hotel there called Microtel Inns & suites. I stayed there last year for Zdayz and was very impressed. It is a very new hotel, was quite affordable, has complementary continental breakfast, and is just down the road from the fun. Here is the info if you want to give them a call. http://www.microtelinn.com/MicrotelInn/ ... andInfo=MT Phone # 1 (828) 479-6772.

OK, I spoke to Will at Fontana Village and he said that there is a BBQ at the Bonfire Pit.
There are benches there but no tables. We'll probably rent 1 table to put the food on.
Unless someone local can bring a table.
There's a Fire pit there too if we bring fire wood.

You can take a look at the Fontana Village layout here:

Hi, my first NICO post. I'm living in CT and I'm actually a Nissan owner ('09 Maxima) that is attending the dragon with the 8thCivics as I'm a former Si owner. I can't make yours this year, but will look for it next year.

A couple tips for the Dragon novices, don't enter the corners too fast, you'll NEVER make it out of the corner without hitting the brakes. Don't drive beyond the ability of your car or yourself. The road can kick your a** in a hurry..

Also, don't follow too closely, weird s*** happens and it sucks rear-ending the car in front of you. (yes, it happened to the CIvic group). A not related car in front of our group slowed down for the professional photographers and that caused a chain reaction of slamming on brakes. I think the cars that hit were WAY back in the group. pay attention as things change quickly as most of the corners are blind switchbacks

Here is a couple shots of my car:

But there is a DSM meet in Florida that I might also attend. Decisions Decisions. I will let you know the week before if you should look for me.

Its about 60/40 Ill be there there.
