Hey guys, i'm in the process of buying my first 240. it's an 89 240sx coupe, $900 but it has a bad clutch and isn't drivable until that's fixed. everything (to the best of my knowledge) is stock except for a KA single cam with about 90K miles on it.

it's located about 300 miles from me so i'm thinking i'm gonna get one of those car dolly things, but i've heard those may be a struggle at times because some cars don't fit properly...anybody every use one of these?

also any input you have that could help me would be greatly appreciated, tips, tricks, anything..
thanks!

*also any clutches that you guys recommend?

I used to work in a shop that rented out u-haul equipment...i've never seen any issues out of tow dollies and cars...
Of course fitment could mean lowered modified vehicles and also iirc your not supposed to put rwd cars on them...

Need someone to back that up i cant really remember dont see why you couldnt tho.

Need pics!

yeah i'm hoping... i'm not too worried about the body, at least not at the moment... it's mainly just a car i want to use to learn with, so later when i have more money i'll be able to build the car of my dreams =D

i'm not saying this is a piece of junk, and i'm not saying i'm gonna treat this like crap... this is actually amazing that i have the chance to get this car and i'm gonna take everything for what it's worth.

haha yeah... once i get started on it i'll definitely update regularly... and if the odometer is the biggest problem why not set it to trip mode if it has one (idk if most cars have these, i know my jeep does)... it may not though because it's analog not digital...

haha alright... i'm fine with that, that's exactly what i want. and would the only setback of hauling it on the dolly be the extra 300 miles on it?

lmao trip mode only tracks the trip itself, your odometer is still tracking those miles that would be illegal to not count miles its being driven.

as far as your kouki not having one it does, its just analog
its the 4 digit mile tracker with the reset button lol.
just simpler not non existent

okay, yea. i was aware of the trip-meter for measuring the distance of a specific "trip" but he confused me when he said trip mode an for some reason i thought it was something u toggled that disabled the odometer but wow now that i think about that i feel retarded cuz that's illegal as s***.

The only thing holding you back from dragging that thing home with a dolly would be if it were automatic, which it's not. Even if it was automatic you would just back the car onto the dolly instead of pulling it on and tow it on the front wheels with the steering wheel unlocked of course. If you pull the car onto the dolly then just make sure it's in neutral and the e-brake is off. It will fit on the dolly, brought my 89 coupe home the same way.

also any clutches that you guys would recommend getting... i plan on keeping the ka and eventually getting a turbo in there... but that may be way down the road so idk if it would be worth it to spend the extra money for a better one now when i'm not gonna need it...

Took the 6 hour drive down to maryland to pick up my 240! We left at 130 AM and got back at 6 PM....longest ride ever considering i had been delivering pizza's from 5 pm till 11 pm last night...Used the tow dolly and everything worked out perfectly fine! Took the driveshaft off though. Image

Dropped her off at my dads, put some gas in it and jumped it with my dad's subu... Started right up. Couldn't get it to start with out the jump so we're hoping it's just the battery being dead. Hooked it up to the charger and we'll give it a shot tomorrow.

Gonna start taking the clutch out tomorrow, just ordered the Spec Stage 2 clutch kit http://www.240sxmotoring.com/specstage2.html and the Comp Clutch Street model flywheel http://www.240sxmotoring.com/cocl19ni2414.html.

Also does anybody have any idea what size hoses i should get for the fuel tank.... they're located on top of the tank, inside the trunk under that plate.

My first was an 89 Coupe. She was white and boy did she run awesomely.

I miss the single cam club. Hopefully one day I'll have another. Can't wait to see this thing built.

Did you take out the driveshaft and gtfo fast before anyone saw all the transmission fluid or did you capture it all? Had a friend tow an automatic home before and he didn't know much about cars, especially that when you remove the driveshaft you're going to get a couple quarts of surprise

haha i was aware there was gonna be some fluid coming out of there so i was alright with that... i was a little surprised when i was underneath the car, and i took a hose off of the fuel line to replace it...a little bit of gas came out.

Sucks to see ones that don't. I love that HUD so much.

i was fine with it not working... i'm not a fan of digital/automatic stuff in cars... so i was more than happy to switch it out.
