Wait, if your speedo wasn't working then why were your gauge lights? It was to my understanding that when the speedo goes bad it also takes the gauge lights with it.

Like right now when I'm driving my car at night, if the speedo is working then so are the gauge lights, when the speedo cuts out the lights go with it.

The car is not running now... when i try to start it up it turns over but doesn't start... i just changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, and the fuel filter... does anybody know what it could be?

it was sitting around for a while.... so maybe it's the injectors?

Check that you didn't mix up your plug wires. Also make sure you're not flooding the engine.

EDIT: if you removed your distributor, you probably have it off a tooth, which'll cause this too.

i ended up taking the fuel line off on a point on the return line... started it up with the hose off, and a bunch of black stuff came out, along with a bunch of gas.... plugged the line back in and started up fine...

I have no idea. I mean having "black stuff" in your lines can't be good, but I don't know what exactly that indicates. Someone with more knowledge'll probably chime in.

What're your plans for this car, man? After the clutch and all.

It looks like a really clean start, I wanna see where it goes.

I have a working HUD / digital cluster. It's the only redeeming aspect of my car right now.

EDIT: If you have a bad digital cluster, just fix it. Most people seem to just throw them out when it's probably one burned out component.

is it me or is harder to find parts for a ka sohc? specifically a header... would a header for a ka24de work on mine?
as well as most of the other parts?

any links to sites with a good selection of sohc parts lemme know... gonna go check out the sponsor list.

also took some pictures today. just kind of messing around, nothing serious... can't wait to get new rims and get some bondo on there and a paint job..

right now my main concern is getting it to pass inspection lol... i'd like to get this on the road (legally) and my jeep, with +300K miles on it, off the road... until winter but i won't be around too long this winter. Plus this will be a bit better to get me transported from south carolina to pennsylvania once i leave for the navy.

Most of the work that needs to be done to get it to pass is done... needed a functioning speedo, got that put in and works beautifully. Needed a cat... knocked all the honeycomb crap out of one and got that done... i have a broken ball joint that i need to replace and take care of some rust holes as well...but it's close.

But besides all of that i'm thinking i'll start with the exhaust... new header, new everything. the current one is rigged up pretty bad...
Then i'd like to get some coilovers. then better brakes. then finally some turbo...

that's in a perfect world though...and i'm sure we all know this is NOT a perfect world :dblthumb:

EDIT: oh and of course get some body work done and some approachable rims. I hate the ones that are on the front... so much... i'm fine with the stock... but i absolutely despise the ones on front.

I wanted to get rid of the digital cluster regardless... i enjoy watching the analog needles climb and drop and climb and drop... instead of digital numbers... i also want to be as barebones as i can be with this car... i hate anything automatic... idk why...just do.

i love it... but i didn't get to drive it with the stock clutch so i can't really compare to anything... i got the street flywheel.

anybody know if there's an accelerometer or something similar to an accelerometer in the ECU? Finally found the source of my problems... the previous owner had the ECU out and it was just kinda hanging there... and (didn't know this until today) the car won't start unless the ECU is in a certain position... i'm just hoping there's an accelerometer or a mercury switch (or whatever it's called, i know it involves mercury) and it's not a faulty wire.

also.. got the car to pass inspection today!... going to pick up some decent/cheap used rims tomorrow and maybe tires.

From what I under stand the two HUD and speedo both have to be hooked up in order for either to work or so I was told

No updates in such a long time, no time and it's been rainy just about everyday.. working 7am to 5pm every day and then i work at a pizza place from 530 to 11pm on some days... plus my boss has been on vacation for two weeks so i haven't been getting a paycheck... but i'll be done with my day job tuesday so i'll have some time to work on it before i leave for basic in december.

haven't really been doing anything to the car... replaced the o-rings and all the rubber fittings on the fuel injectors... replaced the tension bolt for the alternator because the one that the previous owner had rigged in there fell out -_- replaced a few vacuum lines, i'd like to go through and replace all of those really soon. got new doors which i'm gonna sand down, primer, and paint white. don't know why i'm spending money on exterior parts but i keep finding deals i can't pass up lol.

oh yeah my exhaust fell off (or broke in half i guess i should say)....it was rigged too... don't even think it's made for a s13, probably not even made for any s-chassis lol... probably not even nissan! none of the hangers were on when i got it, nor could they even reach...the only thing supporting it was the header... so lame. Image

I want to do some stuff to the suspension now..... no idea what i should get though... i don't want to drift this thing, not yet at least, i'd like to get another coupe and use this one as a drifter and the other as a dd. so idk if i should spend the money on coilovers or not. any help would be appreciated!

sorry for the rambling lol. it's snowing outside today... we've got a good inch already and it's still coming down hard.

well i'm back for anyone who cares lol... i can't have my car down here for about a month... good news though! there's a full garage here where you can rent spaces to use to work on your vehicle...cool stuff considering i've never really had a garage of my own or within a mile radius.
