1. to start it off, there's a hole in the coolant reservoir tank, i dont think its a big problem. do you guys think i should get a replacement or mayb an upgrade (aluminum overflow tank anyone?)
The Coolant over flow can pretty much be made with any plastic bottle and a 80cent nozzle.
stealthy_240 wrote:2. the coolant is like BROWN. wtf. havent seen that before, but of course there are many things that i havent seen. kinda opening my eyes a bit at a time. i gotta get that flushed. but im waiting to decide whether i should get a replacement overflow tank and then do it. or do it afterwards, which i think is stupid since i gotta somehow stop coolant from flowing.
Just dump out your rusted a** coolant and put new coolant in, If the brown color bothers you.
stealthy_240 wrote:3. the hood isnt staying up, no strut or the oem bar or what not, i will likely get a set of ebay struts. problem is... the hood feels kinda light. and it definitely does not feel like CF. Just looks like soeone gutted the support beams and the heat shield to put in the scoop. i hope its OEM cuz supposedly the ebay ones only support OEM hoods. ??
Just get a hood off another S13. Part outs are everywhere.
stealthy_240 wrote:4. something is like shrieking when i start up the car. sounds like the accessories belt which i will have to replace. anything else i should replace with it?
Replace them all, belts are easy and when you tighten them just make sure they have about 1/4 inch play when you push on them. If they don't have any play they are to tight, to loose the don't do their job.
stealthy_240 wrote:5. intermitten windshield wiper not working. but fullspeed and the other continuous one (half speed) is. hopefully its a blown fuse somewhere. working on that now.
Yeah wipers aren't hard to replace.
stealthy_240 wrote:6. driver side automatic seatbelt motor is jockying around. gonna look at that next. my EE courses are coming in handy.
I would suggest either taking your seatbelt to a dealer and have them fix it, make sure you have an owners manual when you do, Its normally a battle to get them to fix the seatbelt for free. Or switch to s14 or 200sx manual seatbelts.
stealthy_240 wrote:7. suspension is awfully springy. prolly busted shocks are someone suggested. read a bit more about godspeed and agx and gr2. seems like agx is a pretty good choice if im not using OEM springs. which i am not, they are sportline from eibach. as for godspeed, ppl seem to hate it or like it. whats the final verdict? and is coilover necessary if i only plan on driving on the street and hopefully sometime in the future on the track but mainly for DDing.
Don't make your car unstreetable, it gets old fast. Stock replacement or new shocks and lowering springs. less than $500.
stealthy_240 wrote:8. exhaust is disgustingly loud. from the inside at least. sounds like it gets louder when i let off the gas. maybe a leak?
Could be, JB weld the bish if you don't want to replace it.
S13 are so easy to work on. Enjoy. And taking off that body work is gonna be a pain, you will know why people hate molded kits. Mold kits usually drop the worth of a car, because they can crack just from daily use and look s***ty.
I love teardrop wheels, mine are 215, which is a good stock width. Wanna send me your center caps?lol
