man theres a lot of sissy mainstream techno and some generic trance on here. you gotta hit the underground stuff. drum'n'bass is good to chill to, i stick with the mixes a lot. but darude is complete garbage. that guy wouldnt know trance if it bit him in the a$$. ive been listenin to trance since i was 10. started on techno then moved off to trance. there sure arent as many good trance dj's as there were back in the day...

well house and junge/drum n bass and break beats do better in the clubs and there for have grown and become more popular. People that cant feel the vibe of trance like the fast pace beats to dance to. just like hip hop becoming more pop with good fast paced beats.

i just started getting into electronica not too long ago, so i'm not familiar with all the genres and sub-genres and such. that said, i'll just put up a list of what i like (and can name :oface ):

oakenfoldpaul van dyksashatiestobaby annerobert milesorbitalsaeed and palashanything ministry of soundthe orb

that's about all i can think of. i think most of my favorite electronic stuff is progressive house, trance, dark trance, some ambient, goa, detroit house, breakbeat, dnb, and the light, fluffy, cheery lyric infused stuff...:ylsuper

I gotta disagree with you here and say that it really doesn't matter HOW LONG you've been listening to trance, it's an evolving genre and what you may have considered good trance when you were 10 (I don't know how long ago that was) may be old hat by now. Darude is good, despite the fact that he's on the mainstream side of trance (some people seem to think that being popular renders an artist "bad").

I've been listening to trance for a long time as well, and while of course the older ones are good, and a lot of underground is great, it can't be discounted that mainstream artists like DJ Sammy and Darude are able to produce perfectly enjoyable trance.

Anyway. Not trying to start an argument just my couple of pennies. ;)

In closing, The Orb rules for chillout, as does DJ Shadow ("The Private Press" is the best album to listen to on a long night drive).

:thumbup lol... yeah club music is NOT trance. in fact anything you hear on the radio or mtv is NOT trance. real trance artists run in their own networks and aren't mainstream. that doesnt mean they're not well known. anyway try these:

cyclone - salobresasha - welcome to the clubthe olmec heads - spiritualized [astral mix]

those are a good place to start looking...
