I gotta disagree with you here and say that it really doesn't matter HOW LONG you've been listening to trance, it's an evolving genre and what you may have considered good trance when you were 10 (I don't know how long ago that was) may be old hat by now. Darude is good, despite the fact that he's on the mainstream side of trance (some people seem to think that being popular renders an artist "bad").
I've been listening to trance for a long time as well, and while of course the older ones are good, and a lot of underground is great, it can't be discounted that mainstream artists like DJ Sammy and Darude are able to produce perfectly enjoyable trance.
Anyway. Not trying to start an argument just my couple of pennies.
In closing, The Orb rules for chillout, as does DJ Shadow ("The Private Press" is the best album to listen to on a long night drive).
