You are assuming something untoward went down regarding Bechtel. It didn't. The untoward part was offering no-bid contracts to people in a manner that calls into question conflict of interest issues.
I firmly believe that if the secrecy surrounding the vast majority of the way the Bush Administraion did business in a lot of issues lends itself to serious corruption questions. After the fact, however, I don't believe that what this nation needs is a long, drawn out investigation followed by filing charges and trials at this point. They established ugly precedents that now subsequent politicians can take advantage of in the White House.
Both parties are merely seizing every opportunity to strengthen their stranglehold on power in this country at the expense of the majority of the citizens.
