EX Deals in Canada

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hello everyone, been posting a bit on the G forum since I was thinking of getting of the G coupe (hence the username) but praticality has won over (and one big factor: SNOW) and have now decided on the EX35. (i wonder if I can still change my UN to EX_bernard?) I'm from Canada (Mississauga, ON for Canadians).

I've read quite a bit of info on $5,000 off invoice from the US. on some topics, I've talked to a dealer close to me (didn't haggle much as I just wanted an idea of how much it will cost) and they seem to be offering only $1000 off.

I am looking to lease a Tech package (fully loaded: no custom leather) and quoted me at:

Invoice: $50,050Dealer fees: $2179 (freight, PDI etc)Rebate: $1,000Total: $51,229

Lease for 48 months at 2.9% came to $589.70 if (big IF) they take my car for $7,950 which they took off the MSRP I think and I will only need $800++ up front to drive it out the door which includes first months lease payment.

buyback $22,022

What do you guys think? All in canadian dollars and as I said no haggling yet as I just wanted an idea. I plan on talking to maybe 2 more dealerships. Do you think I can get $5,000 off like in th US? Any suggestions will help. Thanks guys.

Greetings from BC.. Bought one here in August, but didn't lease. Dealer wouldn't haggle at all. Seems they sell well in Canada but not so well in the US it seems. That would account for the incentives south of us Canucks. BTW...$52,300 was the sticker here out west for a fully loaded EX.

Hmmm...maybe I can haggle more due to the current economic state and the fact that the 09's are coming this January???

Hey Bernard,

$1,000 off MSRP is a crappy deal. You can do way better than that.

I just bought one this past Saturday for much less than that from Markham Infiniti. If you want some more details, leave me your e-mail.

Hey Guys ... another NICO member reported "honesty" problems with Markham Infiniti on this thread: zerothread/335474

So, FWIW, I'd be careful dealing with them ... you might be able to get a better deal, but just know what you're getting into.

Cheers,David

P.S. I grew up in Bramalea ... in the "E" section.

Hey EX35_bernard ! Do you know Infiniti is coming out with an all wheel drive G37 coupe? You may want to consider waiting for that. I know my wife would be all over that if it wasn't for our 2yr old and another little one on the way. Trying to go in and out of the back seat would be a major PIA!

Yeah I know about it. I was waiting for it especially since its coming out with 7AT. But I don't know...as I said practicality prevailed. I wanted the G for the longest time. I testdrove it and was really impressed. Some minuses were no sport package on the AWD, rear legroom (not that the EX is a lot better but it will do) and the relatively bumpier ride then the EX (off course!).

I might still get it in the future who knows. I that case I'll get David aka dividedhw to change my nick back to G35_bernard. Thanks again David!

A little update on my EX Deal hunting. To spare me from typing again here's my email with KJ911TT:

Hi KJ911TT, Wow! Thanks for trying to get me the best deal possible man. That comment about how far I am from Markham is genius! I talked to 401 Dixie and didnt finish till 7. I managed to get them an additional $1300 off aside from the original 1000. So that gives me $2300 off total. I walked away but felt it was a good deal. I asked if I can get the winter mats (inside and at the hatch) he said he might. Tomorrow I'm gonna ask for the cargo organizer as well. (view here: zerothread/339092).

By the time we were done I called Jason at Markham but said he was about to leave, I was actually already on the 401. But he did say we can probably do it over the phone tomorrow. So I guess I'll know tomorrow if he can "sweeten" the deal! =) I also plan to go to the infiniti dealer close to my work at lunch and see what they say.

I was able to test drive the EX again today when they were appraising my car and the salesman didn't come with us. He just gave me the keys and said Have fun! So I did. I tried DS mode and it was a blast. Can't wait to get one! Anyway, thanks again for all the help! I'll keep you posted on the deal (fingers crossed). Bernard

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Bernard, I got a hold of my guy at Infiniti in Markham. Turns out he's at work today. I guess because it's a long weekend, he decided to come in on his usual day off to get back to work. He'll know who you are because I already called him and told him to give you an incredible deal. Seeing as you were looking at 401 & Dixie Infiniti, I told him "Hey, he's probably in the Mississauga area so going to Markham is pretty far for him" and Jason said "Yeah, I know, that's why I gotta give him an incredible deal to make it worth his while". Anyway, let me know how it goes! Best of luck!!! - KJ911TT

Props to KJ911TT for giving me the invoice price for the EX. If not as it stands right now it could have cost me $2300 more. We'll see in a couple of days What the final discount will be (fingers crossed!).

I got my EX tech back in May, discount of 2400. I would think that the deals would be a lot better now that the '09s are around the corner.

At the time I went to a couple of of dealership, however no one offered much of a discount, claiming the car new on the market. I finally went with a broker who got me the deal at Markham.

You may find the following email I received last week from the sales rep I dealt with at Willowdale Infiniti of interest:

"At the time, I should have brought in your offer for you with $3000 discount which I’m sure I could get you a car as well at that time."

Back in May none of the dealers offered me any deal even close to 3k, much less 2k.

Yeah I actually started looking back in the summer too, when my main target was still the G37! The EX was still a bit new and I had it priced too although didn't pay attention much but I'm sure it was a lot higher than what I'm getting quoted now.

Also back then upfront fees were $2179 plus 1st motnhs payment. Now its just first motnh plus license fee which comes up to $600-620. I think its because the 09's are coming soon as well.

Compared to Canada, it seems the EX has received a very "cool" reception in the US, and natural market forces are fuelling deep discounts.

I bought mine at the end of last April, but if I was looking now, I would seriously consider going to the US and importing one back to Canada. Even with RIV registration costs, duty, etc, if you can pick one up for $35K USD, you could afford to replace gauges, put in DRL, etc, and still save $5k to $7k (or more, depending upon exchange rates).

That said, two things that might stop you from going to the US:

1. If you want to lease, not buy. (unless you can arrange something like a Royal Bank "buy-back" loan)

2. If you're counting on your trade-in value not incurring tax. (I saved $2080 in tax alone by finding a private buyer for my Audi and getting the dealer to do a "conveniece deal" at no cost.)

HTH,David

Close to finalizing a deal. Went to 3rd dealer today (recommended by KJ911TT).

Funny thing when I said I wanted the cargo organizer he said he doesnt know about it, but did a google search and guess what? He found this site with the cargo organizer pics from dividedhigwy! Lol. Made me laugh. I told him I was part this forum.

I'll post the final numbers when everything is done.

Hey D ... that's me. I think my scenario was due to the fact that I just got referred to a sales rep who didn't care; or perhaps hated the fact of sharing a commission with a broker. Just make sure to double check the numbers on your sales contract, as well as the spelling of your name. Service dept so far has been great. I think dealerships just need to loosen up a bit and smile ... and stop thinking that they are catering to a snoby clientele.

Ok, everything seems to be in place for a pickup tomorrow (after some paperwork issues w/ my trade-in).

Looks like I will be paying for a fully loaded AWD (Tech package):

CAN$547/mo for 4 years lease with no down. Just first motnh payment plus $60 license transfer fees.

Dealer will also add winter mats, cargo mat and cargo organizer which I specfically asked for.

All in all I was able to knock off CAN$ 2800-3000 off thanks to KJ911TT for providing me the invoice pricing for free. He paid $40 nucks for it so I owe him!

Will be picking up tomorrow and surely I will post pics. Can't wait.

Hey Bernard,

Congratulations on the new ride. My advice when picking up the EX (and any other car) is to give it a thorough inspection inside and out before leaving the dealership. That way, if there are any pre-existing damages, you get the dealer to acknowledge it and fix it before you leave the lot!

Other than that, enjoy the new ride! I've enjoyed mine and my summer car's been sitting in the garage just because I'm enjoying the gadgets of the EX too much! =)
