Also, we haven't updated our facebook statuses, for fear of not pissing off friends that weren't invited (a total of 11 guests at the thing)

Personally, I wouldnt mind having a Muslim as my neighbor and over the years we have had good relations with Iranians and Pakistanis in our community. The professor they brought on was dead wrong about the Tea Party movement and did the video article a disservice.

Oh, I thought it through, yes. Their military is the only thing that can save Egypt from total chaos, as I stated in an earlier post in this thread. I guess some people just have a knee-jerk aversion to anything military.

Stability is a good thing. Look into the history of Pakistan's military, for instance. Without them, it would be a war-torn, fractured "country".

Planet Money had a really nifty episode about it. They asked, what is it that leads Arab and African nations to have despots and dictators? The answer: the economy, stupid. When your government's income is mostly from selling natural resources to foreigners, why would you care about your people?

To lighten the mood, a buddy of mine sent me this email this morning:

"This morning the Muslim Brotherhood warned that if the United States' meddling in Egypt and Libya continues they intend to cut off America's supply of 7-11 and Motel 6 managers.

If this action does not yield sufficient results, cab drivers will be next, followed by Dell, AT&T and AOL customer service reps.

Finally, if all else fails, they have threatened not to send us any more presidents either.
