Thanks Drift. I appreciate it. I would like to do it the legal way. But like I said, I really don't understand the point of taking all of the parts off the sil. and putting it on a 240. It's still the same car then, just the vin #'s would change. So if it's illegal to have sr's in a 240 then it would obviously be illegal to swap all parts from my sil. to a 240. Am i still not making sense? I do have high moral and values swift. But sometimes you have to do some "shady" things in life even if it endagers yourself.

I by no means wanted this thread to go how it did. It started as the car on ebay!! I would like to collaberate on this stuff with you ppl. Not try and keep your information to yourself. But do as you wish. I wasn't part of this forum until after I got my sil. I did do a lot of research before buying the car. And the person i bought the car from said it wouldn't be that big of a deal to get it registered........ah. to say the least. I've got to go to work.. later people.. thanks for the info swift and smith........

Hey SWIFT, I was under the impression that you could import any car legally for race purposes, but not indefinitely. I have been told that a max of 5 years by the NHTSA and that you will have to renew it every year. That is a pain in the ***. How did you get around that?

isnt the main reason those cars are illegal is because they are not structurally built as strong as ours. I know the evo didnt come for so long because they couldnt get the intercooler to fit with a good bumper. The doors and everything overthere arnt as strong either.

Exactly. If someone is buying this car, they would not tell you how they registered it. It's like telling people you smoked weed and do coke, no one would do that. All these people arguing how wrong it is to reister the Silvia. Think about it, people swap SR and CA's all the time. This is a SR powered 240SX, only difference here is the car is RHD. Why do you want to report the person who registers the car??? Just let him/her have a Silvia.

um . it is a 91 silvia q's. the motor was out of the car. It was bought as a rolling chassis and for "parts only". the motor was shipped seperate from the car and in a crate. i had a guy in gardena cali. install the motor for me and from gardena it was put on a semi. to be shipped here. So STFU smurfboy.

Ok. You bought it for parts only so why don't you stop complining about the government on a web board because it isn't going to help your situation. Go buy a 240, swap the sr and keep it LHD (so you have no problems in the future) but if it means that much to you go RHD and you just would be like almost everyone else that has a SR in a 240. It's better off doing it that way than swapping the V.I.N. even though it will be more of a hassel. It maybe more money but it's the only way and the most safe way if you keep it LHD go you won't grab everyones attention.

In the instance where I called you naive I was right to do so. You were misinformed and incorrect. You were being naive.

well ucould become a registered mail man, and it would be legal to have a right hand drive car. or become a delivery person for napa or some parts store and u could have a legal right hand drive car.

Who told you that it's illegal to have a rhd car? You don't need any type of certification or a specific job to own or drive a rhd car. The car itself must be DOT/EPA legal. The owner himself does not need to be in compliance with any standard...

Sounds like the misinformation bug is biting again...

well said. If an american company started making a small test run of RHD cars, they'd still be legal cause they'd be made here under certain standards. But like you said, if the car itself isnt DOT/EPA legal, thats what makes it illegal.

By the way, what do the bug bites look like, cause i got this funny looking bite on my arm that i have no idea where it came from or what did it.
