WELL I FINALLY PULLED MY CAR OFF JACK STANDS AND DROVE IT. LEFT 100FT BURNOUT MARK STARTING IN SECOND. BUT ALAS ISSUES ARISED AND IT OVER HEATS. I'VE NOTICED THAT THE PUSHER FAN PUSHES MOST THE AIR OUT THE FRONT OF THE CAR INSTEAD OF THROUGH THE RADIATOR, I'M THINKING THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF A FAN SHROUD SO I'M GOING TO TRY TO BUILD A SHEET METAL ONE.

ANYWAY KILL REPORT:BEAT MY FRIENDS 328CI, HONDA CIVIC EX (I/H/E).

I HAVE A 3000CFM FAN BUT MOST OF THE AIR IS JUST BOUNCING OFF THE RADIATOR. I'M BUYING A NEW GAUGE, BUILDING A SHROUD AND BUYING NISMO THERMOSTAT.

my car over heated too when i first got it done.. i put 2 huge fans up front... changed the thermostat.. and got a bigger radiator... and it would still get hot on the freeway... once i change the turbo.. it never got hot again... the stock turbo is water cooled.. so it was preheating the water and sending it back into the motor..

I'M GOING TO TRY BUILDING A FRONT SHROUD AND CHANGING SOME STUFF. THEN IF ALL ELSE FAILS LARGE RADIATOR UPGRADE, THEN OIL COOLED TURBO.

YEAH RB20..... ITS NOT A INDUCTION OVER HEAT IT HAS TO DO WITH ACTUALLY RADIATOR EFFICENCY.... ITS JUST NOT GETTING ALL THE AIR IT SHOULD. I'M GOING TO TRY TO DEFLECT IC AIR DOWN AND SHROUD THE FAN AND RUN DUCTS FROM THE FRONT TURNSIGNALS AND PIG NOSTRILES (I GUESS THATS WHAT YOU'D CALL IT) INTO THE BACK OF THE FAN.

Good work. Got any pics? Sound good though.

I built a fan shroud for mine cause i was noticing it was bouncing off like yours. I just cut up my stock shroud and made little brackets. Works perfect. Im usually running one fan and it works good. But im also running a koyo radiator and a condensor too.

ARE YOU PUSHING? NOPE NO PICS YET...... AND DO YOU HAVE PROBLEMS GETTING AIR WITH A FMIC IN THE WAY?

Yeah im pushing. No problems at all even with the FMIC. I usually run one fan. unless its mid day in a long stop and go traffic.

Ill prob start running both though. Looks like the Az heat is starting up again.

OHH YEAH I JUST REMEMBERED.... I HAVE NO NOTICABLE REV LIMITER, THE CAR REVS ALL THE WAY TO 8500 (FURTHEST I WOULD TAKE IT BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO DAMAGE THE ENIGNE).

WHATS THE TOP SPEED OF THIRD GEAR? I REVED MY CAR OUT TO 7500 IN THIRD AND IT HIT 105.

Are you using the correct sensor for your gauge? I know that alot of the "overheating" probelms are solved by using the correct sensor. If you are using KA gauges, you need the KA sensor.....just a thought.

If you use the RB sensor with the KA gauge it WILL read high...they are not compatible...switch sensors and see what happens...I believe the sensor with one wire is for the gauges

Does this apply to the S14 temp switch (with RB20) as well? I cranked mine up and after 10-15 minutes, it looked like it was settling out just below the middle. But it is cold here.... 20-25ºF lately.

Yeah, the KA gauges across the board are not compatible with the RB sensors.

Might have an air bubble too...or thermostat.Did you bleed it up by the intake?

OK, THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP! I KNEW ABOUT THE BLEEDING BECAUSE I HAD THIS ISSUE WITH MY KA, BUT I DIDN'T THINK THE SWITCH WAS THIS DIFFERENT.

YES THERMOSTAT IS OPENING..... I'M GOING TO TRY A COLDER THERMOSTAT. BTW READ MY SIGNATURE, AND I'M NOT AN IDIOT I ALREADY TRIED EVERYTHING I COULD THINK OFF AND JON ALREADY POINTED ONE OF MY MISTAKES OUT.

BTW: THANK YOU JON, I WOULD HAVE TOTALLY OVERLOOKED THAT.

WILL AN OIL COOLER REAP ANY BENEFITS FOR COOLING TOTAL ENGINE TEMPS?

yes it will, because oil and coolant have to take away approximately 2/3rd's of the engine's heat, and most of the time the oil is well over 250 degrees, especially with a turbo'd engine. Cooling the oil will significantly lower the temps of the parts it covers, and thus the whole engine.

A diverter at the base of the radiator is said to be very helpful at directing air up in front of it, and then it is sucked thru.

One thing I have noticed, at least on the S14, is that the bleed hole on the intake manifold is a few inches higher than the top of the radiator.... which would make bleeding air from the system a bit of a problem.

I'm not sure how to get around this other than tapping another fill hole on top of the bleed valve block.
