not buying gas on one day isn't going to do a thing to the oil companies. They will just catch up thier product sold the next day, as there will be twice as many people that will have to fill up the next day.

The only thing we can do is pay the price for the gas. Plain and simple. If our government doesnt do anything to assit these oil companies with a price reduction, their aint nothing we can do.

Isn't it amazing the oil reserves we have here int he US, but dont use. I guess the government feels when the rest of the world runs out of oild we can still get around.

Probally mid summer. July or so. Doesnt really make a difference to me. I waste more money on eating out than gas anyway.

I agree, it'll probably peak this summer. Since this is an election year, wouldn't surprise me to see gas prices plummet just before election day...

Saving for a rainy day is never a bad idea. How else will we fuel our tanks whenever we take over the world?

My car did get CRAP mileage in town, now its tons better. I didnt' have an airtemp sensor on my intake, therefore making it run hella rich. Now that I have that sensor it makes a huge difference. I fill up around every two weeks usually. I let it go pretty empty most of the time though. I used to not let it get below half a tank, but I dont anymore. Oh well.

My dad filled up his z28 today, planning on not filling up at all for the entire next week. I dont guess I will either, although by the end of next week I will be needing gas. Great.

There was another email being tossed around. The "selective boycott." What you do is fill your tank like normal, whenever you want. But boycott specific stations. Like, don't buy from Chevron at all for 3 months. Then don't buy from 76 at all for the next 3 months. It sounds like it might work, but I see a flaw in it. If you boycott one supplier, then fine, maybe he'll have to drop his prices. But the others would see their demand go up. If it was a true boycott, the others wouldn't have to worry about competing with the cheap station, and they could (would have to) raise their prices.

-----Original Message----- Subject: FW: Gas Prices

*This is worth a read...*

We are going to hit close to a $1.42 a litre by the summer. Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy gas on a certain day campaign' that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $.80 a litre is super cheap. Me too! It is currently .85 to .95 depending on what day it is, for regular unleaded gas in Montreal, Qc. We all know that we're being screwed by the oil companies. Does everyone remember how they drove up the prices way past a dollar and got the gas prices to where they wanted them, claiming there was a shortage of oil?

Well, there isn't any shortage now, and the oil is more abundant than it was 35 years ago when the price of a litre of gas was 29 cents! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre of gas is CHEAP at $0.78-$0.85, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace....not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we cant just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: for the rest of this year, DO NOT purchase ANY Gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), PETRO CANADA, SHELL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of PETRO CANADA and SHELL buyers. Its really simple to do!! Now, don't leave me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to at least thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

Petro Canada is a canadian company. But you get the idea. Oh the prices and sizes are CDN dollars and litres. but the concept is the same

well, the other thing that increases the price is the additives and stuff done too the gasoline. when they factor in the mark up from the oil companies, the mark up from the refineries, and then the gasoline companies, and finally the state mark-ups, its not so cheap anymore.

To meet the May 19th boycott, everyone will just fill up full tanks on the 18th just in case LOL.

Oil companies and refineries win every time. I need to become a shareholder.

Yashin's idea sounds interesting.

Yup. the 240 got 14 gallons of premium today.. so much for your boycott. Like someone mentioned earlier, if you didn't buy today, everyone will just buy tommorow.. no net loss.

Now, if we all bought some electirc-hybrid cars and nuked all the suv's, then prices would go down... but then we'd be stuck with slow *** 90 hp cars.

....the point is: quit whining. If you want to save more money, try driving more conservatively, or go out one less night a week. There's ways to save money..

i didnt get no gas today, not because i cared about that email, just coz i dont need any! WHAHAH :D

EDIT: ok, watching News right now, and they are saying the war is only a small part of the reason why the gas prices are going up!

China's ecomony is growing, demand for petrolium products goes up, so that drives the gas prices to go up

OPEC also has to do with gas price's increase. only when the supply meets demand will the prices go down.

HAH, I put $60 gas in the work truck today. Chevy HD2500, didn't even fill it to full. I ran the truck pretty hard today, and also when doing road service and the sales route, the truck runs at idle and also runs the compressor, so I used most of that $60 worth of gas today.

WHAHAH, gasoline is the best thing ever, and per gallon still cheaper than Mountain Dew, Milk, or brand name bottled water.
