Dodge Neon SRT-4 or Nissan 240sx

This is the neon forum, the issues with the car seem to be even more than the new Tiburon, if that's possible. They have all kinds of crap going on with their cars, clutches going bad before 2000 miles, some under 300 miles, bad foglights, turn signals not working, gringing transmissions in 2nd and 3rd ALREADY...sooo many complaints

So what if it can pull decent times, it's ugly as hell, FWD and most importantly IT'S STILL A FREAKIN' NEON!!! There's more to a car than an engine.

The lady who owned my 240, bought it in 1989. She didn't have to replace ANYTHING until like 1994, besides the oil filter and air filter.

yeah, but I hate to say it, a stock srt would spank most of us non-sr20 or non-Ka-t guys. I don't like neons, but I do think have to give them credit for using a fmic instead of the smic, and for actually having balls enough to put another turbo car on the market, I wish honda or toyota would take a cue from this. I'd never buy one, but I pray that the aftermarket support for this car stays small, even though I'm probably wrong. I just never want to have to utter "I lost to a neon", ever........

Domestic economy cars are a joke. Japan beats domestic 4cyl cars hands down. American car companies build what the majority of the public will buy. Crap. I think this speaks volumes about the american car buying public. Why do we as a country expect so little of ourselves? Why do we allow car companies to year after year sell us junky cars? Domestics in a nutshell: Crap. See also Focus, tempo, fiesta, festiva, metro, tracker, storm, Saturn, cavalier, ugh cavalier is ultra junk, malibu, the new impala is a winner...oops, wrong, still junk. the list is almost endless and i consider every new ultra sleek piece of crap the big three sells to be an insult to our intelligence. Is the driving experience dead in this country? It sure feels that way sometimes.

my buddy just bought one for his wife and he took me for a spin in the new SRT-4. let me tell you.........that thing is quick!!!!!!:yesnod it pulls in every gear. i like the stock autometer boost gauge that it comes with.i honestly don't think it's that ugly.it's got a cool induction hood and a pretty cool front end that's just a little different than a regular neon.the other night he raced one of my buddies 96 Z28 A4 that has just an intake and exaust. when they raced, the neon was only behind by a car and a half. and that's not bad at all!!!!!

but they are also 20k and run 14psi with the extra money you could pay to have your ka built to run 14psi and be in the 12's instead of low 14's like the neons

yea its true, for the money u would spend on a neon u could just drop an SR into any 240, have internal work done and get a new trubo and still have money left over.. and u could be running 13 - 12's... no matter how fast the neon will go, its still a gay neon. and it will ALWAYS be a gay neon..

A good resource for info on the dam SRT-4 is an article in Sport Compact Car issue of october 2003 called "dont get busted" they have tons of pages going over the new engine and car. From what i got out of it, dodge has turned a ****ty standard car into a pre peeman pimped out car. Yes it has lots of cool mods already on it, but it is quite hard to upgrade things on it. The turbo charger is mounted onto the intake pipes. So, it is very apealing to the average joe who doesnt have the slightest clue on how a car works or runs, they just know how to gas it as hard as they can and put dumb mods on their car so that they can get attension. Neon owners consist of 99% of these joes.

so, i can't agree with you guys more. Neon owners have no concept of what a good fast car is.

take in mind that this car is bone stock and runs hi 13's. Not even a bone stock sr20 240sx/silvia will match that. There are always issues when a new car comes out. I would by no means have called my car reliable, and I know many 240sx owners can say the same thing. Just because you have heard of a few problems by a few select people on one message board doesn't give you any right to judge the vehicle or call it derogitory names. WHen it comes down to it, the neon is fast, and very affordable. It's just as fast as a 350z and is almost half the price. Any problems the car may have will be covered by the manufacturers warranty.

and actually, most neon owners I have ran into were car enthusiats and knew all about the vehicle and how it works. Every single one of the owners I have met were like this. The SRT-4 (or any new Neon) is such a huge improvement from the Neons of years gone by. (They were absolute CRAP :-/)

It has also gotten very good reviews--many on the handling aspect. Of course, if it does have so many claimed problems...

And for hardly any more than a new Nissan SE-R Spec V? (Which seems to be problem plauged as well.) You really have to ask Nissan (Renault?) what they were thinking this time around.....

But, yeah... my stock+rust S13 owns. Nissan forever! Die Dodge! Die Ford! Die Ferra...
