If you're buying the car for the warranty, you're a whiner and shouldn't be tuning a car anyway. If you have any idea what the hell you are talking about, you realize how much money it costs to make X kind of car, with X options, go X fast and handle X well. You add all of those X's together, look at how much it would cost you... look at how much it the manufacturer can sell it to you for, and voila... you realize, the SRT-4 is fairly wise purchase.

If you like FWD, and turbo power.

If you want a warranty, go buy a Kia or a Hyundai.

dodge has the upcoming hemi powered wagon known as the Magnum coming out as well as the new 300M, there's also rumors of a new charger and they talked about a Cuda but Plymouth is defunct so it'd have to be a Challenger. Whether one of those two will happen is beside me, though Pontiac did bring back the GTO which is revered as the original muscle car, so perhaps we could see a modern revival of the muscle car wars with new spins on Legendary names.

Wait for the ION redline to come out ;) helical roots supercharger, intercooled, 2.0L ecotec. I'm willing to throw down $$$ that it could take an SRT-4 stock for stock (stock upgrade of boost on the ION to 12 PSI)

ok. lemme drop some knowledge on all of yall. i have a friend with an srt-4 and supposedly it is fast. lol. i drove it and i can say that it is quick without a doubt. i will also say that at 19psi at idling, its a little scary seeing that it is FWD. his is not stock and has 300 at the wheels. he changed the exhausts (comes with 2.25 from factory lol) and is around 3 or 3.25. he ran a 14.4 at the track with the exhaust. now that this is on the floor, lemme say that there are some serious design flaws with the car. to explain the dodo head times that these cars are pulling, lets look to the FWD. the first year of these cars have no LSD. this equals no traction. so what do you expect? now lets flip, the price is 17,000. now what competition does this car have when it comes to the person with the small pockets? none. it is a brilliant idea for dodge to corner the market like this. not to mention that it does come with a 7yr warranty. coincidence? i think not. how many srt owners will really do absolutely nothing to their engine for 7 yrs? lol. thats like telling us 240 owners to be satisfied with a factory exhaust or intake. also i saw some previous posts about an ion redline??? lol. which is worse? owning a fast neon or owning a saturn product. period. lol. neon sux but i think ion is even worse. lol. ion??? isnt that a particle? and isnt neon a type of bulb? lol. back on topic. there are some pet peeves that i have with the car. first and probably the most popular is that it is a four door that doesnt have power windows on the back windows????? i know weight is an obstacle to goin fast, but two extra window motors wouldnt have hurt. the seats that come with the car are literally amazing. only the s2000 and cars of that caliber come with seats like that. (i think one of those mazda cars came with seats like it also) besides that there's also the clutch. i hate there clutch with a passion. it feels like a factory integra clutch, and for a car with 220 horses, they should have given ya a little grip. anyways. 240s rule and neons drewl. they have a massive FMIC and they have mopar product support. i predict them to be like the 99 civic si's. popular but will soon b played out. our 240s will always handle better and will always have options to switch engines. the little neons are big bang for the buck but its only a matter of time till the neon owners act like civic owners and say, how can i be different? where is the apc altezza lights? why dont i have an external wastegate? why cant i roll down my back windows? why cant i win? time will tell if the car will survive, but 240s still rule.

also that blowoff valve from mopar is serious. it makes noise when the engine isnt even on. lol. j/k. but seriously, if you just think of touchin the gas pedal, it'll swoosh at ya. sounds like a air brake off of a big rig but it is addictive to hear.

Personally, not even using info that has benn provided here, I won't buy a Neon unless the roll bar is made from Titanium alloy. I had a friend burn to death in one of these less than a year ago, and she was hit in the side, not the back near the gas tank.

Now, for engine quality, Fast, yes, maybe, but will the engine keep from burning itself apart for boost sake? Their regualr Dodge neon engines eat oil less than 20,000 miles alot of times (from experience) I'[m not pretending to know the engine well, but from what i see, I'd be worried about keeping the car for more than 40,000 miles for repair's sake.

American cars DO HAVE some great power to them, But the maintenance is to high. Foreign cars sometimes don't have the power, but they have the advantage of holding together and technology. As usual, each have their pro's and cons.

I own a Pontiac Grand am, and a 240SX KA24DE. The grand am hasn't been beaten while I raced it yet(I've been wise about who i race ;) ) and the Nissan WOULD spank the Pontiac, with only a .1 liter difference, but then again, Grand AM= 4 door, luxury;;; 240= 2 door, semi stripped, and better output. Ones for fun to drive, one for the family, you guess why nissan beat it?

But Never would i buy the Neon, for fear of my life when i drive above 80 MPH :) not hating all the owners tho

K, i shutup now

your the type of person who makes me want to sell my 240sx

"omg, who cares if its fast and has a warrenty and sits 4 people comfortebly and has a large trunk, it sux, lol, 240sx rool and always will! lol lol lol lol."

Give me a break, the SRT-4 beats the stock 240sx in every catagory, live with it.

If by your comparison the SRT-4 is better than saturns in general, im going to buy one right now, because my family owned 2 saturns and they were some of the most reliable cars ever. MY dad kicked my arse in his LS2 V-6 vs my stock, base model, 5 speed 1991 240sx from a roll (my car is about as light as 240's get)

The fact that you are comparing a turbocharged sport compact to a 99 civic (aimed directly at a different market than the SRT-4) shows me that your entire argument is unwarented.
