Every things holding up well except my conti pros lol. I go for prk 7/30 so im giving rt tuning my car for a week.

Their to do list - 8lb spring, fix axleback alignment, retune/dyno for 8lb spring and finally a full exhaust from the turbo (also a more agressive tune since there could have been some 87 octane in the system, Install a windsheild wiper resivior (the original was deleted and never replaced, the samething happen with my antifreeze). Inspection and an oil change. i just dont trust wally world any more!

Hope to become part of the plus 300 to the wheels club!!!!

What about torque steer? Do you get a lot more of that with so much power to the front wheels?

At first i thought there wasnt any torque steer when i first started driving the car but i was wrong. it pulls hard core in the lower gears to the right or left. Its not terrible but if you arent paying attention and get on it, you may have to let off the gas to recover. ive never owned a car than can break the tires loose and keep then loose either. Its pretty amazing.

My previous car, 97 200sx sr20det, was like that too. Drive normal, not too much of a deal. Hit the throttle anywhere above 3k, and I pulled like crazy. There were a few times merging/changing lanes in CA Bay Area traffic that having large hp in a fwd were rough. A split second of "what have I done" replaced quickly by the feeling of pure and absolute joy once I got into an open lane. Very small prices to pay for so much fun 99% of the other time spent behind the wheel. Grats again on the upgrade (just joined NICO, and caught up in full today).

oh yes 8-) , I say go for 300whp. should be fairly streetable on a fwd car and will smoke 370z all day. get a nice locking diff with some Summer tires and you will make them cry.
lol good one

yah, that was my car. i have since redone a dyno on it at college and the numbers were in that range. i have also dropped my 1/4 mile to 16 sec. we have a car show in september where we offer to dyno your car for like 25bucks so if anyone would be interested in coming to it then they can find out what their car is putting down :mike . i understand scheptisism on my numbers but all i got were printouts and had no means on posting them for you guys.

Ok guys i got some updates and pics.

Im sorry to inform you guys that i couldnt break 300 to the wheels. But my coupe did end up making 285 whp and 285 wtq. Thats in the range of 340 crank hp. Ill freaken take it. Instead of changing the waste gate spring they just put a manual boost controller in the car. Its currently set up for 9 psi and if i wanted to i could take it to 10psi. But its stayin at 9.

At this point im beyond POOR so i prolly wont be doing anything else to the coupe for a long time. (before any haters come out i know the dyno sheet said 279 whp but this was the only sheet he gave me. The run after this made 285 but he only saved this sheet.)

Cool, as I pointed out, just be careful. Trapped heat = cracked turbo. Also heat = parts wear faster. It's good for keeping other things cool but will increase intake temperature a bit (although it gets cooled by the intercooler).

It does clean up the engine bay though, just again, be careful careful :) I decided not to run one. Congrats, free is free lol.

I was gonna do some research after we talked but my parents ended up buying this for me. Vince (the creator of my kit) recomended it. So that was all the research my pops needed to pull the trigger.

I pulled up to my parents house and my dad told me to pop the hood. He had a laser temp gun and temped various parts. The hotside of the turbo rated an over heated reading which is 600 degrees plus! The alternator next to the down pipe read 400 degrees. The wrapped oil lines temped at 315 degrees.

Things need to be cooled off in there. We are gonna see where its at and go from there. The heat wrap on the hood seemed to be working well. It only temped at 150ish. Im hopin this cools things off. If not ill be gettin the slotted hood.

Yeah, not a lot of room in our engine bays which equals trapped heat there.

I would definitely get a slotted hood. Those are some pretty high temps my man. But none-the-less its just another obstacle to figure out, which im sure you will. Congrats on the great build and I need to see some videos ASAP :dblthumb:

Installed this yesterday! Took about 8 minutes. We were to lazy to wrap the downpipe in titanium wrap. That will get done some time next week. The first heat cycle freaked me out, the blanket was smokin like a mofo. It smelled like a**. But after a cool down and a 3 mile drive every thing was fine. Under hood temps were drastically reduced. I used my hand thermometer. Ill use the laser when im at my parents house.

Great sucess!

All temperatures dropped greatly. The wrapped turbo clocked in at 250 degrees down from over 600. The hood heat wrap dropped from 150-120. The alternator dropped from 400-200, and we still have to wrap the down pipe. Since everything in there cooled down so much i hope its makin more power. Loves BOOST!

The heat doesn't disappear. It's still there. Under the blanket. Exterior temps will drop but the same heat is there underneath. Sure it may cool the engine bay but I doubt you're going to make any more power. The heat is still in the turbo and it's pushing the same temperature air (if not hotter air since the heat is trapped under the blanket). Turbo intake heat *may* be reduced, however, I doubt it since the car is in motion and cool or ambient air is being blown through the underneath of the hood over the intake filter.

I would like Danny, if you can, dyno it now with the blanket and compare against what you made on the previous dyno. Just to lay this to rest. I googled it and I found various posts where people made more and did not make more. Hrm..

It would make a buttload more power now just because its 55-60 degrees and when the car was dynoed it was june/july 80-85 degrees.

The heat is staying on the turbo. Which in turn should cause less lag. Which may not increase power but will quicken acceleration.

Since the turbo isnt radiating heat the average temperature in the engine bay is reduced - moving or not. Would create more power.

However, by trapping the heat within the turbo wont this wear the internal parts quicker?
