I just read an article in the L.A. Times this morning that according to J.D. Powers YTD sales of the Versa number 53,865 in the U.S. compared to the Honda Fit at 36,520.

I normally spot one or two Versas a week when I'm out driving around town. By contrast, it seems like I see a Fit every block or two, every day.

Honda must have sold all of those Fits in Southern California while the Versa sales are spread out across the country.......

BTW, the other day I saw a red Versa turning south onto Carnelian from 19th street in Alta Loma. Belong to anyone here?

I've seen 2 other black ones, a red one (room mate's) and at least 2 blue, 1 white, and 1 silver on campus..

In Eastern Orlando, they're pretty popular.

However, I have yet to see a black with beige interior , so classy, I love mine.

I see two and three fits a day... and I'm lucky if I see a versa a week... though today I saw my first sedan out on the road...

Here in Southern Oregon I've only seen two sightings of the V although I think it was the same car since they were both blue. Of the two Nissan dealerships here, Lithia only had a few in stock back in June (and looks to be the same situation driving by) and Jim Siegel didn't have any available for purchase.

Makes me feel special -- once I get my V I'll be part of a special club!

Here in Tijuana, Baja California (Mexico), I see Versas and Tiidas (Mexican Version) very frequently about two or three each day on my way to work. However, the sedan is more popular than in the US.

Most of the V's must be up here in Washington. The first two days this week I was doing field work, and I saw a total of 9 different Versas over the 2 day period. Only one was a sedan.

In the same time period, I saw one Fit. One.

I'm now seeing more V's in the city than several months ago as more commuters around town must be discovering this to be a great & safe car to zip around, whereas I hard see one in NJ's Turnpike & Garden State Parkway on my weekend trips, nor do I seldmo see one in CT's Rt. 95 connecting the New England states.

3 months and 5,000 miles later, including a free oil/filter change at the Nissan dealer, it's been trouble free all the way - I don't miss those V8 and V6 engines and I'll take my savings at the gas pump driving the V.

I've seen a few in the Chicago area. Including one down the street from where I live. It's an S Hatchback in Silver and they park it on the street...no way I'd ever park my baby on the street, LOL, I swear I see more Toyota Matrix' than any other hatchback out there and very few (if any now that I really think about it) Honda Fits.

Everyone that asks about my new car...I tell them I bought a V and no one knows what it is...until I tell them it's the car that Hiro Nakamura drove around on NBC's "Heroes"

The north Dallas area must be a hot bed of sales. I kinda watch the dealer inventories and noticed Vs don't stay on the lots very long. I have seen as high as 36 Vs on the inventory (listed by serial number) at my dealer's lot only to find about 10 a couple of weeks later when I took the V in for service.

There are 2 in my subdivision. Both my wife and I see at least 1-2 per day while trveling from home to Plano, Frisco or McKinney.

We rarely see a Fit. The most on the lot a one time in McKinney has been 5. The reason my be the price. The local dealer has priced Fits at 23 - 25 thousand (5 for "competetive price" and the balance for tinting, wheel lock nuts, environment coating, etc). The Accords are cheaper!

Here in Central NJ I have been on the look out for Versa's....specifically to ask the owner if they are having the same problem as we are having with the car veering and braking left, hoping to find one that was actually fixed and the secret behind the fix...which, BTW, Nissan is now saying that it is how the car is designed....and in almost 3 weeks, I have seen only two....but I can't throw a nickel without hitting a Fit or a Yaris....and the Honda dealer is much further away from our area than the Nissan dealer...

I have to agree with you that I rarely see a Fit around. Lots of the Matrix, though. I work in Schaumburg, and there are 3 Versas in my lot and 1 that is always at a restaurant down the street that I drive by on my lunch hour.

Speaking of Heroes, I really wanted to get the Blue Onyx just for that reason, but had to settle for the Sapphire Blue because I wanted the sunroof and didn't want to wait the eternity that I was promised.

Not really suprised at the disparity rate of the Versa's seen compared to other brands being the versa is in it's 2nd U.S. production year, it usually take word of mouth and solid vehicle data before you see the volume of any given model sold hit the streets..

But it is nice being a 1st gen. owner setting the trend and not riding the wave later... no offense to those 2nd gen. owners

The Fit is first generation, too. I was mainly surprised that even though the Versa has outsold the Fit, I see a ton more Fits than Versas around here.

Might have been me EV! I've only seen one other sedan on the road, but there is one black hatchback in my town. Have no idea who she is, but whenever we pass each other we point, wave & smile. It's a small town, more of a pick-up truck kind of place. Didnt expect to see another V.

I'll have to watch out for your blue sedan, haven't actually seen a blue sedan yet. This one was a white rental sedan, and it was down in Kirkland. I have a really long range of driving, and it's mostly on the eastside or downtown, because that's where work takes me.

However, on Monday, I saw 2 V's that had recently taken hits... one to the rear, and one to the side. Not severe, definitely repairable, but it may confirm the "Accident magnet" theory.

I don't have the sales figures for Québec, but from the looks of it, Versa seems way more popular than Fit.

Well if you saw a Sapphire V around a month ago or a Mag Gray one...it was probably me. I see you live in North Aurora (please tell me you didn;t buy yours from Gerald...which is where I bought my SB Versa except in Naperville not N Aurora..I hated those jerks..I bought my ne wone at Glendal Nissan) I split my time between my father's house in the Fox Valley area of Aurora and at my girlfriend's by Midway...

Hey, I think I've seen you and your car.I saw someone yesterday around 6pm crossing Alafaya in a black and beige car, the driver had long hair like Jack Osborne. Is that shoo?

I've seen only a handful of Fits around St. Louis, but I see four or five Versas pretty regularly (probably the same ones, folks who follow a similar schedule to mine. This is like Romper Room - but I see a white one, a magnetic grey one (like mine), a blue one and a black one almost daily. All hatches.)

I see the Versas leave the lot of my local dealer but I don't know where they're going. I've only seen three on the road in the three months I've owned mine, and one had an Enterprise rental car sticker on it. I see a few Fits and Yaris but many, many Matrix. I'm in the Cincinnati area, btw

As an afterthought, perhaps Honda is controlling the inventory of the Fit to keep the price high. All the Fits I looked at had an additional window sticker that listed an "Added Dealer Cost" of $1,000-$1,500. That sent me packing.

Here in upstate New York, it's Matrix/Vibe territory. They're everywhere. Only a half dozen Versa's and a like number of the Fit. I was all set to buy a Matrix before I began the test drives. The Matrix really struggled up steep hills and engine noise was a bit much. I gave up some cargo room but gained a better driving vehicle and pocketed four grand.

I got mine at Gerald Nissan of North Aurora, and they were awesome. Naperville as a town is known for being too good for the rest of the world, so I can see how that store would follow suit.

As for other sightings, I parked nose to nose with a silver one this morning. That's the closest I've gotten to someone else having one except for a friend of mine that bought his a month before me.

I tend bar in Aurora (near Rt 30 & 34). I can usually be found all over the area. I drive a lot.

I spent sometime in the suburbs this summer and saw more Versas there than I see around here. I'm going to be back out there next month and I'm hoping to see even more, and also hoping that I'll get a V as my rental car from Enterprise...

You sure we live in the same area? Since I've gotten Max, I've seen one other Versa while out driving. One in over a month.

On the other hand, can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Yaris it seems. I see at least two or three a day on my 30 mile drive to work, and that's not counting the two owned by people who work in the same building.
