Well, as always waiting on parts to arrive lol...

I have picked up a 26 spline C4 auto ready for a suitable rebuild, and a donor ca/auto from a member on the ns.com forum very cool....

My carpc died, so i built a new one in the meantime whilst waiting for the car parts ordered too arrive... So I thought I would retire the game theatre and upgrade to a creative x-fi usb external sound card... happy days i guess lol

So what am I waiting on?

Well the DIS4 HO is on its way so I am expecting it by Friday...

I also bought a nos launcher controller with wide band upgrade (no lcd as it will interface direct with carpc)...

So thats about where I am up too in a nutshell..

Ohh and for those who were wondering about the interior side of things, I have started some planning lol.. I have decided to install an S15 dash amongst other shennanigans...

hey m8! have you found anyone to build ur auto? if not bob grant automatics has a good reputation with the drag racers for reliable tough auto's i guess it all depends on what u want,the number is 33942706 they are in bris! have u got ur adaptor yet?

Thanks lee,

I will see if he sells parts as I don't trust anyone (except for one engineer who I have known for many years) to build anything for me except me.. lol..

If it shags out because of something I have done, then its my own fault and I will wear the consequence.

If it shags out because somebody else that was paid to do it right didn't do something right, then I have to prove it and it usually becomes a s*** fight with the consumer losing both time, money and sleep.

I am in no way saying that is the case with this business, but unfortunately my experience in these situations has left me very untrustworthy of the industry in general.

yanno, i never noticed till just now and i have to ask... why use a rising rate regulator? the FAQ clearly states that factory FPR isnt a rising rate, and that you shouldnt use one... so now im confused...

Hi mate, Sorry didn't notice your post...

One of the reasons is that I have 3/4 inch outlet on my fuel rail with -8 -> -6 lines, so the original reg was not an option...

Are you sure the original regulator is not rising? (i.e does it increase fuel pressure as boost pressure rises?)

The purpose of a fuel pressure regulator is to change the fuel pressure with changes in manifold pressure. ALL FPR's do that. It's the way that the fuel pressure is changed in relation to the manifold pressure that dictates the style of regulator.

A typical (non-rising rate) FPR makes those changes at a 1:1 ratio. That means that 1psi of boost equals 1psi of fuel rail pressure.

A rising rate FPR is usually adjustable in it's base pressure, AND it's rate of change. So you could put a rising rate FPR on our motor, set it to a static pressure of 36psi, but instead of 1psi of manifold pressure increasing the fuel pressure 1psi, it would increase it 2psi (2:1), or 3psi(3:1), or whatever you set it to.

A rising rate FPR is most commonly used when you are installing a turbo/supercharger on a NA motor and you don't want to change injectors or re-map the ECU. This is OK to do on these setups because the boost is low enough that the increased fuel pressure doesn't have too much of a negative effect on fuel flow. As you increase the boost levels though, a secondary step-up pump is required to maintain fuel volume due to the increase in fuel pressure.

You actually wouldn't want to use one with a tuneable ECU as it would probably make tuning kind of a pain.

Now, if you do in fact have a 1.75:1 rate FPR, that IS a rising rate FPR and I'm not sure why you are using it.

Cheers mate, I am using for the reason you have stated in paragraph 3...

I should have added in the previous post, that I would have happily kept the stock reg if I could have..

My tuner recommended to use this reg I have...

that made me really curious, i would talk to your tuner again... i'm planning on getting a Tomei or SARD down the line if i keep mine.. .

It's not that you can't use a rising rate with a standalone, it just makes tuning a bit different, and you have to be aware that there is a direct relation between increasing fuel pressure and decreasing fuel volume.

Ultimately, using a rising rate regulator, with an appropriate fuel pump setup (2 pumps in series, or a high pressure pump) will allow for the use of smaller fuel injectors, which can allow for good idle quality, but still make good power.

This really isn't too much of a problem with a quality injector though.

Yep totally understand..

3 fuel pumps in total (1 x walbro in tank and 2 x bosch 044 external) dual fuel into the rail with 3/4 inch inlet/outlet, 1000cc injectors..

Unfortunately the stock fpr was just not going to happen lol..

hey mate! i see you finally got your DIS4HO, Have you had a chance to fit it yet? word of warning don't get zapped by it! my brother copped a hit & got put on his a**, he went all pale and S#*t for about half hour LOL

Hey lee, yeah I am installing it at the moment, I am producing another part of the tech files lol.. so its taking a little longer than expected..

Yeah I can understand why, that sucker throws 460-480 volts at the coil, no wonder he got zacked hard..

I am hoping to have the wiring finished tonight, here is a sneak preview!! lol

Here is pretty well how the right hand side will all sit in place very shortly...

I am just about finished installing the ignition upgrade, just a little more tidy up to do..p

how come you didnt mount the coild on the flywall? makes the bay look funny and the leads have to travel further imo

I would have liked to put them on the firewall, but no room, each of those coil packs are over 1/2 a kilo in weight, and are very large in size.

As far as the length goes, I have measured the resistance across each length...

Those plug wires aren't any longer than anything you would see on a typical V8 setup.

And he's right, those coils are HUGE. I was wondering where he was going to mount them that would be strong enough to support them. That's a pretty good spot.

As a quick update, I have tested the DIS4 install and it sparks quite nicely!!

I have checked the resistance on the leads, and they range from 2200 ohms on the shortest to 3200 ohms on the longest..

In comparison to my off the shelf eagle performance leads, which were all 5500 + ohms, it will be sweet as..

No start yet as I realised I left some vital electronic equipment in a friends car and he is interstate until sunday,

I have also received the NOS launcher and wideband controller kits that I will install this week hopefully, I gotta find room for themm, my engine bay space is becoming quite limited lol....

I also picked up an S15 dash and bits n pieces for the future interior side of things..

The exhaust shot didn't capture the low thumping burble as each cylinder breathed during priming, oh well...
