i have noticed a decrease in the activity on the SR forums and i think it is directly related to it not being linked from the 240sx forum, is there anyway to have it link from both the main forum outline and the 240sx section at the same time? (this probably applies to other engine forums as well)

"Nico menu" at left side of page, below our ad banners. Easy navigation for all.

maybe make the link say SR20 or SR20DE/T? I don't think there were any other SR motors than the 2.0L... could be mistaken though. Maybe some people don't think SR so much as SR20DET...

maybe since your'e making people work harder to find the SR forum link (the way it is setup now) it will work as some sort of quality control/filter of dumb people?

my only suggestion is that the menu is above the ad banners... having to scroll is kindof annoying

u think the SR forum is bad? i went through all of the forum sections for the first time yesterday and i was surprized that only about 5-6 of the forums were active. the rest had less than 10 threads total!

site layout...duh, the site just doesn't look too professional. Plus the ads add to the loading time of the sire. It is also hard to navigate if you don't know what your engine is called because you are new.

attitude towards other forums ie: G20.NET, freshalloy, 240sxforums

Whats up with that? Some of the moderators think that NICO is the best and the only forum derserving to be on the Internet....Not true especially with what I said above.

We have more morons than freshalloy does. And the NICO moderators aspire to be 'better' than that site. Look at freshalloy. Very professional, and their layout is very nice. The homepage looks as if Nissan sponsors it themselves. And they do a better job of quality control than this site does. I did join the site last year, but i liked NICO more because i was more familiar with it's members and i've been here longer. Plus, i ended up forgetting my freshalloy name anyhow. i think it was tiamat240. but i can't recall.

One of you says scrolling down is annoying, another says some sections are pitiful, and yet another says the layout isn't professional. Have any of you critics submitted a proposal via email with realistic improvements to the nico admin?

not via email, but directly to AZhitman in a thread he was active in.

luckily I'm surfing "above" the ads ;)

If NICO can be

quick to loadeasy to registereasy on the eyeseasy to posteasy to know where to posteasy to searchsimple (see: Google)

Right now its slow to load, especially at peak time with 600 users, easy to register, not so easy on the eyes because the layout needs some rethinking, easy to post, not so easy to know where to post because there are 100 forums and 0 sub forums. Use hierarchy (see http://www.mr2ownersclub.com), its also not so easy to search, and not simple

I'm not saying that you mods are not doing a good job and that the admin aren't wanting the best, but you guys really need to think through some of the decisions that you guys are making (see placement of ads and reorganization of the forum)

Freshalloy happens to have quite a few ads also, but their placement of them is superior. They can be seen and reached. But they are also organized into subcategores (dealers, stores, non nissan ads)

Yes, I could help design a layout or submit an example, but I do not know PERL, or PHP

Sorry to be so tough, but I hope you take my words to heart for the better forum.

Heaven forbid someone have to scroll a little bit downward to find the quick links.

Oh, NICO is easy on the eyes, because it has different "styles" to choose from as to how the site appears. Just choose one that looks good and is easy to use. I sugest NeXusBlue :)

I'm too dumb and lazy to do that. Too many selections, too small print. If I'm just here to surf, then I don't like that option because I want to know which threads are recent.

Also, what about some partnerships with other forums (read: http://www.g20.net). G20.net is a nice small group of people with a knowledge of SR20des and G20s, NICO is a nice big group of people with no knowledge of SR20des and G20s. hmmm, see a connection to be made?

Nexus blue takes forever for my computer to load, and I like a simple look. And I'm not talking about easy as in colors, but as in layout

I wouldnt' say "no" knowledge. Obviously not as much as g20.net though. But I am just a moderator for NICO Meets, what do I know.

So will a header from a 91-94 SER work on a P11 G20?

I'm just saying that there are no G20 members at NICO who are active.

Ok thanks for the quiz. I didnt' say *I* new stuff about them, which is why I didnt' say that a partership w/ g20.net would be bad. I know enough about the sr20's to be happy. I dont care what header off one car will work on another. If i do end up caring one day, then I will venture on over to g20.net. Or possibly just browse NICO and ask someone here, if we have more sr20 smart people.

Well it depends on how "partnery" it will be, heh. I mean I really dont think it would be bad by any means. So yes I guess I am saying it would be a good idea. I mean I guess it would be nice to know more about the sr motors.

It would be a great Idea! I am a member on G20.net and I asked the question to one of the top dogs there. They seem very content with their setup.

I love this site. Damn the way the engines are broken down takes out half the work. I want ka-t I go ka-t. I want rwd sr I go rwd sr.

The posts might not be high because people are just reading.

Like I do.

I don't know you Jake but you joined after me and look at the post difference. I am a reader and I have a crew to look after.

This place is fantastic.

As far as the partnership thing goes..They(G20.net) don't have much to gain out of it.As it was stated we only have a handfull of G20 owners here and most of them have a Q or something else.I would love to see something happen between the two of us because their members for the most part are top notch!

They would gain free server and bandwidth.....One of tehir mods once mentioned it to one of ours but not much came of it , often people prefer to stake tehir own claim.

Heck, I thought it would be a great Idea if ALL nissan/Infinti sites united, under whichever "roof forum" that way we can keep bandwidth bundled and cheaper.

Fred...:)

i have also noted this trend w/ some concern i think its connected to the blueing out of some foums under our default color scheme.

sometimes the dumb newbie people make things more interesting ;)

also, if only seasoned NICO veterans know how to surf the forum, we are choking off our own supply of new members.

i just brought this up because there is only about 1/3 the normal amount of people browsing the SR section now a days.

I never go there because it takes too much effort for my browsing style. What if a CA, SR, KA, RB, suspension/brakes, and tech forum were located inside the Basic 240 section much like this?

The CA, SR, KA, RB, and suspension/brakes forum could be accessed from other parts of the board (such as an engine section or the 300zx section or skyline section) as needed

I really want the layout to change because this board has very nice members and it needs to be exploited with the best layout possible.
