no , it is on your headlight switch arm located on the steering coloum. There should be a second switch located a little further in on the arm from the switch you turn for the headlights.

Okay got it.

So should I just do a voltmeter test on it?

No thats your ignition switch. Take a picture of your headlight switch installed and nothing taken apart and post it. I will then edit the pic and repost it.

Nistech, hey hows it going man? I think I may have to bring my car back to you. My car idles very rough now. For example when I am at a drive through the car kind of feels like it misses, but when I put it in Park it idles fine. But as soon as I throw it back into Drive and have the foot on the brakes it idles very rough. I notice too that when I accelerate from a full stop it kind of hesitates for a second then runs fine.

Any ideas off hand?

BTW I usually run 91 Octane and just changed my oil too.

Pull out the ignition coils and see if oil is down in the holes. Usually the rear coils if it is. It would mean the rear valve cover is leaking oil from the orings.

Okay I will pull the coil packs and check the holes. So it might actually be oil that is fouling the plugs which = rough idle.

Thanks for the advice. I will keep you posted.

your a Nissan tech at the Nissan dealership in the elk grove automall? that's where i got my car (2008 Nissan Altima coupe). one of my friends was saying that CVT's go bad at around 30k (after the 1st CVT fluid change). i told him it was the murano known for that and the new CVT (like the one in my car) is a way different transmission. have there been any issues with 07+ CVT Altimas after the CVT fluid change?

There is no recommended fluid change interval on the CVT. However if it looks dicolored , change it. It should be greenish in color.

I dont know where you have heard anything about common failure of CVT transmissions but from my perspective as a nissan dealer tech I think they have been the most reliable transmissions nissan has had to date. Since 2003 when the CVT came to the North American market I have done only 1 of them. Can only recall seeing one other one be done by another tech. I would not say thats a common failure since I have not been able to keep up with the automatics and manual failures I have seen over that same time frame. The CVT I did was not due to functional failure but due to a noise that was annoying to the murano owner. It was very subtle but enough for us to decide to go ahead and replace the CVT. The auto's and manuals I have done had catastrophic failures.

Do some reading up on the CVT and fully understand how it works and is constructed. It will then probably be clear to you why its so reliable.

You are the first person I have seen post about running it at Sac raceway I have wondered how these things feel when launching since you can keep it in the power ban the entire run. So whats it like to watch the tac stay in one place while the speedo rapidly climbs?
