It would be for the front Sam. If you still have the inspection sheet you got from the dealer I wrote down all the stuff I found. Also that parts list with prices on it I gave you has the part numbers on it. With that most parts places can cross reffrence the part number.

Hey I finally got you messege at work yesterday afternoon, you know when you called the day before..lol. I guess the cashier forgot to tell me! I am guessing you got your answer when I posted here the night before. It is the left front.

The part# cross reference only works with new parts suppliers. If the parts are used they wont be able to cross reference them.Sorry should of specified that before.

I am doing things to my car one thing at a time. Currently a f/t student so i'm unable to do it all at the same time. Anywho the parts search is going fine at this time. Getting tires from a guy this weekend.

Next paycheck will be the control arm.Les Schwab is charging me $150.00 for the used part, $85.00 labor, $75.95 alignment for a total of $326.58 w/tax.

Greetings Mr.Nistech,

Hey how's everything going? Well my work in progress is in need of the attention of an expert. I talked to John today and he advised me to call in tomorrow.I wanted to get an estimate of replacing the a/c idler bearing, idler pulley, and charging the AC. I'm in the process of getting those parts and I would like to get a round about estimate of that.

So far I have taken your advice and replaced the left lower controll arm, and I got new wheels/tires all the way around.

Now we just have to make it stop sounding like a diesel.

Talk to you soon,

Sam

You need to determine which compressor you have, there were 4 different model number compressors put on the 96 I30. So if you can try to find the id tag on the unit it self.

Nah there is still a ton of gunk and oil under there. I did get a change to steam clean some of it when I got done. Drove it and reracked it still didnt get all of it. But I did find there was no sign of coolant leak like I had suspected last time, which is a good thing. But it was still very wet with oil underneath. After I drove it the area that was wet with oil was not immediatly wet after the drive so this leak isn't pucking out. I did see the valve covers are leaking and very well may be the source but again hard to tell if there is anymore with the amount of gunk that was on the bottom of the engine.

The next thing you need to address is that power steering rack cause man those outer joints are really loose. The control arm is much more stable though.

Your head lights were hella out of wack. Those are now set properly so you should be able to see where your going.

Okay cool thank you. I will do a better job of de-Gunking it next time. Its nice to be able to see where i am going now

Is it possible to just replace parts on the rack?I priced them and to get a whole one is mad expensive.

I am not sure how many of the rack parts are available. I am pretty sure you can get the outer tie rod ends but I dont know if the inners rods or inner gears are avaialbe.

honestly Sam I dont know what they are going to charge you for install as I tend to not pay alot of attention to the dollar amounts. They generally ask what I need to do then look up install times per standard flat rate manual. I know our labor rate is 110 an hour so based on that and guessing that a p/s rack is generally about 4.5 hrs including the alignment that would put it about 5 bills. but again that was purley guessing on the time. You would have to call in and get an estimate from the advisor for a more precise amount.

Okay, good to know.I will contact Nissan tomorrow and see what the labor will cost.It will probably be a month or two before I can save up that much money. Thanks for getting back to me.

Mr. Scott Nistech,

My fog lights and side markers were taken off by the previous owner exposing the sockets to the elements. I just purchased new fogs and side marker lights, but they do not work.

I suspect all the light sockets need replacement. What do you think?Do you think it might be a blown fuse causing the issue? And if so do you know which fuse powers the fogs and side markers?

So I was like.. .

Can you help me good sir?

Thanks

Since multiple fuses are involved its best to check all your fuses both under the hood and in the inside fuse panel.

I assume when you reffer to the marker lights you mean the cornering lamps in the bumper??? Those will only come on when your headlights are on and you have the turn signal on. only the side the signal is on for will light up.

For your fog lights to work your headlights must be on too.

Thank you Scott. The corner lights are functioning properly, it was my mistake because I didnt realize that the blinkers had to be on for them to light up. However the foglights are still not working. I changed the bulbs. I also checked all the fuses and they are good. I did a voltmeter test on the relay and it has juice also.

What else could this be? Do you think it might be the front fog light switch? And if so do you know where the switch is located? I searched the service manual, followed the wires, and looked online and cannot find the switch.

The fogs came with the lense and the rear plug/socket-->

But i think the problem are these-->

Thanks for your help

Should be a secondary switch located on your headlight switch. Its a barrel switch just inside the headlight knob.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Is the headlight knob you are referring to located right behind the headlight?
