the electrical a nightmare? please! everything is documented and its moslty all available for anyone to do. ecus can be bought, copied, flashed with the right tools and harnacess can be bought or modified with the FSM to comply.plus I don't even think that the ecu will need to be flashed. the modules are independent.

people do it all the time on their 240sx and 300zx for dirt cheap. on a new car if one would do all the work, it would in no way go beyond 700$.

the kit is here to theorically simplify all the reseach and fabricating.

you installed a turbo so out of all the people, you'd know how easy this could be done, if the electrical was taken care of and the fab work too. no way in hell that would cost 6K to 8K$

From what I know and have heard from talking with the boyfriend, I'm with mcheddadi on this. Where did $6-8k come from? That's a really high guesstimate, maybe it would cost that at the dealer..

My reasons for getting a CVT:

1. I couldn't drive stick at the time2. Mom said "Don't you want to be able to talk on the phone in the car?"3. There were none around

My reasons for wanting to swap:

1. Way more fun to drive!

and, for all those wondering, I realized I don't actually use my phone in the car too much (insert hair twirling emoticon here)

many of us, and i know from my own experience didnt have that opportunity when i got my coupe there were no 6spd's available in the area, in fact there still arent and its been months. a very limited amount of A/C's come in 6spd. furthermore many of us would prefer driving manual over cvt any day thats why we would consider such a thing

without factoring in the price of the kit. It's not worth lossing the warranty. If I was going to do that I'd keep the CVT and throw on The turbo! It's probably a better idea to sell your's and buy another w/manual...

Depends on what your warranty claim is. Obviously, you no longer have a warranty claim on the transmission! But the engine? Yes, unless there is proof that the mod damaged the engine. General body issues, electrical, same thing. No different than adding an aftermarket exhaust, stereo, or lip spoiler... no link to the problem, no issue.

I feel like you could just take the murano drivetrain out and cut some things down - or possibly even the Rogue or something.

Heres where my figure comes from...

6 speed transmission, half axels, bearing, linkages, and other drivetrain components for the swap, removed and to your front door - 4,000

Conversion kit - 1,000 because no kit that includes the clutch pedal, cables, shifter, brackets, wiring, and instructions, etc, costs $500

ECU, TCU, and BCM computers, all synced and programed by Nissan to correlationally run together for a 6 speed- 1,000 . The wiring for the 2 trannys going to all these computer systems differ. So that means new wires running to new plugs that all haved to be professionally wired in. Consult the FSM if you don't believe me.

Then theres the shop thats gonna have to do the intall for you. Because face it, your not going to do this on your own. There are maybe 3 people in this forum with the connections, tools, and know how to put something like this together. 1,500

Like I said. Total cost- 6-8 thousand. EASY

I figured the transmission would be able to be found used on ebay or some website. However after an extensive search... such is not the case. I saw somewhere that the transmission was the same for 02+ altima's but they are 5 speed. Those can be found used for cheap. The 07+ 6 speed I can only find new for about 2k. Then all the other stuff. This is something that will have to wait til the cars a little older and people start wrecking them more and the transmissions start popping up on ebay... unless mcheddadi knows something we don't

But I can still subtract your $1500 install estimate

it's called devaluation, and refurbushing and taking back the pieces you got instead. halves the prices in half.

Actually it wont be expensive at all because all Mechedadi is going to do is Photoshop the conversion

There is no need to bring this back up dude... the cost of doing this correctly is MASSIVE... time consumption is incredible... finding a shop that wants to dive into it is a whole other matter altogether...

I know a guy who is doing this swap right now as we speak... and sorry, I can't give you his contact information until he is done...

I'm interested in this. I figured it would cost around the range of a turbo though.

And I saw the video of who's doing it. Any idea on what they're charging him?
