Damn dude that sucks. I had a similar thing happen to me. I was at work and it started pissing. I got off at work at 10 and the roads where soaked. I jumped on the freeway and immediately started slipping. Just every once in awhile at first. So I dropped the speed down to 40 as was going to get off the freeway. Just before the next exit where I was planning to get off i hit a small puddle, my car sped up and spun. I did a full 360 across 2 lanes. The back of my car went into a wall of dirt. Luckily it had turned into mud because of the rain. My car looked like I had been mud womping in my coupe. The tail pipe was full of mud, my wheels where full up and the rear right panel was dented in just behind the right rear tire. I got out and checked then decided to get off the freeway since the exit was like 100 feet from me and my uncle lived 3 blocks from there. Went to his house, pulled the mud out of the exhaust with a coat hanger hosed out the wheels and breaks and bent the rear panel back out. Ended up without a scratch. Turns out my rear tires where bald down the center from a bad alignment. Couldnt really see it unless you got under the car. I have 20's and dropped so the inside of the wheel is a little difficult to see. Only had 6000 miles on them. I am thankful everyday that it went the way it did. I just so happened to crash into a 100ft long dirt wall. 50ft in front of me and 50ft behind me was a sound wall. 10ft in front of me was a huge poll holding up the freeway sign.
I am glad to hear you will be able to fix the car up and get some new goodies because of it. But make sure one of those investments is some good tires. I am currently rockin Goodyear eagle GT's. and I love them. You may have heard about the rain we have been getting hear in Cali recently. I havent slipped once. And I was maintaining 65-75 in the worst of it. Plus there only like $150 ea. My Toyo T1R's where twice that and sucked.
And VDC only helps if you have decent tires. I have the VDC and it didnt do a damn thing for me, except speed my spin up. But with new tires I guess it works, I havent felt a slip yet.
