plus...to be quite frank...the car is a pos. and i figured if i might as well start making the slow transision from my dd to track car since this is the pos i want to be competing in and what not lol

eventually a cage..im deff not welding it if i do decide for weld in but that would be after i stop dding it

thanks for lookin

p.s. its a pain in the a** to get to the point to weld

that seam rubber is the devils skeet
haha thanks for the heads up about the seam rubber stuff. i will be prepared when i decide to do this.

i really like your plan for building your car, you pretty much have the same goals as i have for mine. just keep building on it until its a full blown track car. im gona be keeping up with this thread to see how your progress is going. :dblthumb:

quick question. how did you remove all of your sound deadening material? did you use dry ice?

yep dry ice works great for the majority of the sound deadening i used that a hammer and chizzel sound deadening is also a major pain in the a**

but the sound deadening on the strut towers and the side of the center area are not the same material as the normal sound deadening everywhere else the dry ice seemed to not affect it in any way so for that....i just used a sharp chizzel and i had to sharpen it every onc in awhile haha, you can get the majority off that way but then use like degreaser and a wool sponge to get rid of the resedue...that combo i used to get rid of the resedue all on the inside of the car and it worked great!

orrr if you have the power tools a wire brush power tool something will work great too

I guess ill combine my update for today in this post too...

since i worked today i didnt get to do much i did some welding but the light wasnt quite right so it made it hard to i stopped after a little bit...i also went threw and inspected every weld for flaws and marked the ones i need to go back too and repair. tommorrow i will be welding the passenger side and part of the drivers side and repairing the welds that i feel like adding too haha

IDC really how well they look i just want them to be legit strong welds that will serve the purpose i want them to serve lol

Just so you know you can eliminate the lap belts that poke you in the a** when you get out of your car. Legally you only need the chest belt.

ok so i welded the egr pipe and the pair valve piping on the obx headers i have so i can just run the 02 sensor

not too bad if i say so myself

Image

then i grinded off the magnaflow muffler on my 2.5" straight pipe and welded on some 2.25" piping, just the start of my victory pipes, i ran out of wire! so i couldnt continue until i get some but i got most of the peices for the victories cut out and ready to be welded in

Image
Image

i really dont care about oppinions on my decision to run victories so please if you have negative comments dont make them known because i really dont care about what your input is thanks.

OMG that video was annoying, you should have just muted it since it was just 99% wind noise blaring through the speakers!

Update: 08-03-2010

Ok so i did some tune up stuff on my car but thats not the important part

i started working on a hydro e-brake set up i would be using from a old clutch master cylinder (5/8"), some random hardlines, and an extra stock rear splitter, stock e brake handle

the plan is to weld on a bracket to the stock e brake handle and fab a braket to hold the master cylinder in place on the chasis

run the hardline back threw where the stock stuff goes or down the side of the of the center consol i havnt decided yet

also looking at the possition on the slave cylinder i may need to move the handle back and/or the MC forward and use another arm to extend the action forward a bit more...

the splitting idea i got while looking at the stock brake set up

from the master cylinder you have F-driver, F-passenger, and Rear, that goes back and a little box splits the 1 line into 2 lines that go into the calipers

so with a spare one of those i can run this set up

rear calipers <-> stock splitter <-> other splitter <-> stock BMC hardline + NEW hydro MC

^^^update for this: i couldnt sleep last night and was thinking about this issue having to bleed this mofo and what not, and i decided that i would tap into the lines a different way

there is a box in the engine bay that connected the hardline from the MBC to a hardline that runs to the back...the idea being if that line is damaged it can be replaced fairly easily...anyway, i will be using this box area to run my lines, so rather than having the lines go all the way back to the rear area for the splitter im going to just run it down and foreward to that area and tap into it there making everything alot easier than being under my car and trying to deal with tight spaces

you can see the splitting set up here...the open part is for the stock hardline to go into

Image

e brake handle and master cylinder

Image

brackets sketched and measured out to the specs im going to need...

Image

this set up will hopefully give me control over the rear calipers for e braking as well as keeping the locking mechanism etc...in addition to also beign able to go z32 rear without shoes and what not

alright everybody, get ready to see this ugly thing!!

first off leme just say that yeah i proably dont need this, or i could have probably gone out and bought one and it wouldnt look so ugly

but i like making things and i like making things work, especially with my car so if i can make this ugly thing work good for me, then idc how really bad it does look lol

anyway here is the cut outs for the framing i was using...all i had was a grinder wheel on a hand held tool...not even a cutter wheel...an grinder wheel

Image

and this is what everything looks like right now, im going to have to figure out where to put the arm in relation to the pivoting action of the handle so that it reaches maximum efficiency and smoothly engages

Image

i also had a revelation last night, instead of tapping into the splitter in the back like i had orrigionally planed im going to tap into the little oem box that they put on the inside of the engine bay...purpose was so that replacing hardlines would be easier in case the hardline at the BMC got damaged it dosnt have to be fed all the way back...anyway i figured that this would be a better place to have it tapped into...

mock up
