too bad the allante was messed up untill 1993 , made due with a weak 4.9l v8 untill the northstar was placed in there in 93 then production was axed in 1994 .

new rear drive northstar coming out is running variable valve timeing on all 32 valves so i cant wait to see the numbers it produces.

Nope, not a big movie or tv buff (media is the root to the corruption of the mind IMO) Doesn't mean I oppose all movie and stuff, just been single for a long while.

Intresting, I've noticed this as well. My 10 dollar year subscription thing ran out the other day and since then it's like stuff's not right. Oh well, I usually end up on the other side of the revolution in times like these Nothing new.

The right thing for now... but as I said earlier... the ring was created for a reason. Flaming is going to spread, it already has. Get rid of it, and hopefully we can police ourselves and keep the content clean and on topic. But I will admit it feels almost like we have a little bit of an overbearing babysitter here. As far as I know, these boards exist for the MEMBERS as well as moderators. If a bunch of members complained about the ring, then it would make sense to take it away. It seems as though you all have the best intentions, and I'm not trying to second guess your actions. The members (from the old boards) agreed that the "ring" would be a good idea for the new NICO forums. I don't remember who proposed it, but we had a thread discussing its merits. It serves a purpose, and now it's gone with seemingly no consideration for the members opinions. I'm just playing devil's advocate.. I'm glad it's gone... it makes navigation quicker without all the traffic. I'm sure it will turn out for the best... I hope!

The ring still exists, like I posted above, it's currently limited to be a place, where threads that get out of control get split/or transferred to.

The mods on other sites are MUCH less hands off than us here.On Maxima.org I observed a poor guy asking a question and being chided by the mods for asking a stupid question (even th it wasn't) and people that came to his help were castigated by teh mods as well for coming to his help,And thats one of the biggest Nissan sites out there (maxima only).

All the successful boards have moderation, like I said we are very hands off here compared to almost all others.

The only thing we ever did ,is reign in the ring, cuz it got a bit too crazy there for a while and that I fully support (and frankly I am the one who brought that to the other mods attention, but everyone agreed something had to be done)

Personally I hope we will get back to a ring that can be threaded by everyone again, eventually at least.

It's not my descision tho.

We mods have a seperate board on which we discuss these things.

I am saddened though that this has led to some personal attacks against some (such as myself ) for walking point on this issue

It's especially sad when some old internet friends from years back, dont read the sticky's, misinterpret a few things, think their threads have been deleted when they just have been moved to the ring and then go away in a huff...

I have put A LOT of time into this club (not just posts either) not so much here w/ u 240'sxers but in other ways, as have many other mods.

For example did you guys know that the server is mostly paid for out of the pocket of one of the moderators since most of us never send in dues?

Anyway, things will work out for the better in the long run I think.

As far as the ring, I completely support Fred, in fact, my suggestion was to take it totally offline until guidelines could be drawn up, so if you're going to yell at anyone feel free to yell at me. : ) I'm all about the humorous destruction of other peoples self esteem, but things had gone from funny, to funny gross, to funny gross damn, to just damn, thats not funny.

As soon as we figure out a successful arrangement, I'm sure everything will be opened back up, we just need to draw up some rules and regulations. It will still be a "free for all," I don't care how much you guys rip each other up and neither do the other moderators, but there are some lines that can be cross, and others that can't. Right now we're determining those lines, after I read the first post and didn't understand where I came in, then read a few more posts about people upset the ring was gone, I just skipped to the end and read Fred's post. : ) Thats my take, any questions?

I think the mods are great and doing a good job. The site is a big improvement from the last, hopefully everything will run smoothly. My only request is to keep info on this site accurate. Some people will come in here and blab all this b.s., like they knowwhat they are talking about (Don). Just for the sake of rookies, could you possibly erase what they said, when you know it is 100% wrong and total crap? Thats my only request, hopefully the flame wars won't trickle into any good threads.

I prefer not to erase posts, instead I think correcting is better because if you just censor all that misinformation, other people who hold the same views may not ever realize they are wrong. If you leave the incorrect information, and then correct it in a later post its a better learning experience. When something is blatantly wrong, completely, undeniably, in a way that helps no one thats the only time anything is deleted.

Yeah, I hear ya, but you don't wnt this site to get the rep of abad, misinformed web site, that was my concern, causeword gets around quickly, and word of mouth is the best advertisment for an enthusiasts web site. Guys ask me all the time where they can get info, and I'll tell them the net. Some people are going to believe everything they read, and thats a crying shame. But I suppose its ok to leave bad info up, so long as it is corrected in that very same thread, true?
