A bill of lading is a shipping document, giving you ownership of the shipment. That means if something happens while its in transit, they call you. It also tells the shipping company who to contact to schedule delivery of the shipment.
Once my clip arrived in California, it took about 5 days to clear customs and another 8 days to reach its final destination. It then took 2 more days before the transfer company released it for pickup, only it couldn't be picked up until I cleared the paperwork with customs

What did you have to do to clear the paperwork with Customs? Do you still have your notes, with the phone numbers, departments, forms and all that kind of stuff?
