That being said, any "review" or testament to their "awesomeness" is null and void unless you've owned higher mid-level and higher end coils.

ah, so your judging them on PERFORMANCE. A DD wont care how well they perform, but how long they LAST..This is one reason everyone gets their draws in a bunch over which coilovers are good.

I'm still waiting on some decent newb/mid level coils to show it's face. Everything I'm about to procure ends up being ancient after a little "googling?". Sorry can't add to the $$>design and design>$$ debate.

Isn't that why we buy coils?

SO whats the big deal on making a thread about the cheap stuff?? it's one thing to speculate about performance from the side. but why is it a nazi crime to buy some cheap coilovers, then tell the public how they perform or last???

i had a test thread and it was removed due to bickering and whatever, maybe that f***** "busy badger" mod deleted it??

First off, respect the mods and the administrative team. They do the work that make this site possible.

Second, if a Nazi committed a crime and another Nazi killed the criminal Nazi, which Nazi committed the crime?

Depends on the definition of "crime", but enough with philosophical and hypothetical thought experiments. "Performance" is a word that, for whatever reason, varies between individuals. If you think "performance" is something that gets you through the day and to and from Burger King, then sure, cheap (or "affordable" depending on your perspective) coilovers are "performance oriented".

But lets get real, that's not the "true nature of 'PERFORMANCE'".

You won't know until you try them out. I had a set of Megan Racing Street series coilovers on my S13 for almost 7 years without any problems. I actually was able to sell them to another person locally, who was impressed with the condition they were in and is currently enjoying them at multiple drift practices here.

Back then the Megans were considered cheap and I wanted to replace my 2nd blown set of Tein Superdrifts. I spent a fortune on the Teins and couldn't more disappointed with their performance. They did however have a quick turnaround time for their warranty. Before the Teins I had a set of KYB GAB coilovers which seized and also a set of Zeal Superfunctions that I took off and sold since they fetched a pretty penny back then.

Many new "cheaper" companies start off selling their units cheap to take a piece of the market. It is usually worth a shot to try out if the price is right. You never know, they could be the next big sponsor at your local event :)

No, that is not why we all buy coils. Of course higher end companies have more R&D in their product, and i agree they will perform better. But for someone who is DDing a car will never know a difference would definitely prefer them to hold up than to be better matched dampener wise, or whatever the difference may be. It takes a certain skill level in driving to even tell what this difference may be. When I think of something cheap, I think something that will break. these coils not failing is whats most important.

Guy1: "Hey guys I'm new here just looking for some new coilovers to lower my car and improve my worn out suspension. I'm not a racer or anything, but I might slide around some abandoned parking lots. That's it, what do you recommend?"

Guy2: "Hurrr, anything mad jdm tyte yo, as long as it's >$1000. You should probably get brand x model y or save $200 more and get brand x model GTXR Deluxe. u get what u pay 4"

Guy1:"Actually I was looking at these $500 coils. Some people have had good experiences with them, they seem to reliable for the most part and provide a good drop. They also have a one year warranty in case something happens."

Guy2: "Durrrr MODS COME QUICK LOCK THIS PIECE OF s*** THREAD HURRRR. good luck dying backing out of your driveway a$$. those coils cost as much as my jdm dildo shift knob. look at these graphs, the multicolored lines are all over the place. have you ever ridden on jdm tyte coils? dint think so, everything you say is moot. i entertain fantasies of being a world class driftero racer, thats why i ran up my credit cards putting $10,000 into my $900 car."

Guy1:"Woah man calm down. I've ridden on the coils I'm looking at and they were pretty nice. My friend has had them for x amount of time and they're still fine. There are similar accounts all over the internet. There are failings, but those occur with every brand of coilover."

Guy2:"Derpa herpa im having barn aneurysm cant handle reasoning durrrr beating dead horse mods lock thread get what you pay for"

Don't try to have a logical discussion with people that have a hard-on for ebay suspension.
It's like trying to tell your local Honda owner to not ride on cut springs.

They'll just say that they haven't blown for a certain amount of months, and that paying for a proper setup is just some sort of JDM hype.

Same kind of ricer, different car.
