Is it bad to "top off"? I was kinda amazed when I was filling up and I saw 15 then 15.5 and 16 that I was looking down the chute thinking I had a hole somewhere. I've never done that before. I'm sure I coulda put more in there, but nothing ever spilled out.Pescakl1 wrote:I already fill my tank with a little bit more than 68 liters (about 17.9 gallons), but I usually try to fill it until I see the fuel (not wise I know).
So you can say that the tank is at least 17 gallons.
With the squares, when you only have two left (the tank light should just have been on at that time), you have about two gallons left in the tank, about 100kms (60 miles). When the last square disappears, you are on fumes (less than 10 miles to go).
I don't know the computer as I don't have it on my car, but this kind of thing are known as quite inaccurate. You should base your estimate on your mileage, that is the most precise way to know, with a look on the gauge and your computer.
Even the scangauge I got could give me false confidence and I should take its figures with caution.
Right now, I am aiming to get 900kms on the current tank, I will tell you if I succeed at the end of next week.
Dude! One day you're going to report a story of how you got stuck on Highway 40 and have run completely out of gas. I hope you have CAA-Quebec!Pescakl1 wrote:Right now, I am aiming to get 900kms on the current tank, I will tell you if I succeed at the end of next week.
Now that I have more knowledge on the gas/tank subject I think I am able to get a better handle on mpg. 3rd fill up:mx6bfast wrote:Second fill up.
399.9 miles round up to 400, computer said 26.5 mpg.
400/16.44 gallons = 24.33 mpg
How I managed to get 16.44 gallons in a 15.9 tank escapes me, unless they do have a bigger tank than reported. When I parked the car this morning it said I had an estimated 40 miles left, but when I started it up to drive 6 miles to fill up the dte stayed at ----- the entire time. Either I was really on fumes, with 2 ticks of gas left, or dte doesn't recalculate?
Can anyone comment on that?
I did some more city driving and lots more ac this tank. I guess I didn't fill up as much the first time as I did this time?
I wouldn't mind having one of those, actually.philipa_240sx wrote:
First off, most of the mileage figures reported in this thread are in US MPG.
The 'window sticker' figure shown on all Canadian cars is calculated in Imperial Gallons (Canada was a British colony after all) which is 20% larger than the US Gallon! To convert from Imp Gal to US Gal, simply divide by 1.2 . That works out to:
25.8/32.5 city/hwy US MPG - Rogue FWD
The US EPA figures are
22/27 city/hwy MPG - Rogue FWD
Still, there is a considerable difference. Mileage testing in Canada is carried out by Natural Resources Canada. The test method is different from the US EPA ratings so they are not comparable with each other. You can read more about it here:

I'm excitedly waiting all the changes in technology and availability of vehicles in the near future!!!
Has anyone ever heard of HHO fuel?

Doing 80mph on the highway won't help. Wind drag increases exponentially with speed and the Rogue isn't exactly slippery either. I have noticed fuel economy drops like a stone above 70mph. At 65mph I easily get 27mpg.mmbedman wrote:...and 19-20 MPG on the highway going about 80 MPH.
This is the last year of the EcoAuto rebate. 2009 model year (and up) vehicles are not eligible. To qualify for the rebate, the vehicle had to attain a combined fuel economy rating (55% city, 45% hwy) below the guideline using the Canadian gov't test procedures. For cars this was 6.5l/100km and 8.3l/100km for light trucks/SUV's. The FWD Rogue attained exactly 8.3 l/100km combined, the AWD gets 8.7 l/100km combined. The program was very controversial, perhaps why it's being discontinued.dollyv wrote:Pisses me off that the AWD doesn't qualify for the tax break on fuel efficient vehicles like the FWD does.
