IMO - i say leave it cf. inevitably, it will bother you and you will end up painting it white, as you have always planned. right now you're just kicking yourself for wanting to paint what appears to be such a beautiful piece. that will wear off. then you'll paint it.

cant you get the carbon fiber like enlaced with another color, if you were to get white mixed in then it would fit in better imo

in the new import tuner , theres a red 240 with a redish carbon fiber hood and it looks good

yeah you spray a translucent paint over it, as opposed to an opaque paint

yeah, thats actually a very good idea. at least that way you retain most of the "pure-white" image as well as the bad-*** CF hood look (or reality, rather.)

just try it on for a couple days. you know how your car felt with the white hood. if you really dont like the cf look, paint it. its simple.

My vote goes to putting it on unpainted, then after a few weeks (do the right thing and) paint it. It's your car, so do what you like, but if it were me I'd paint it.

If you are looking for a lighter hood leave it unpainted carbon fiber as if you add paint to a carbon fiber hood it makes it just as heavy as the stock. It has been proven, you wouldnt think paint would weigh that much but it does after you get all the base coats, main coats and clear coats. But if you are just looking for a regular overpriced hood just paint it. In the long run it would have been cheaper for you to just get a stock hood. Just my 2 cents.

If you knew where to look there are so many nd it wouldnt cost you over 600 dollars. For 600 dollars you could fly to japan and get a hood for all its worth j/k If you have ever been on Ebay there are s13 silvia hood almost every day. There are also companies that specialize in selling the s13 front end conversion parts. You could have a few hood for what you paid, but if it makes you happy just paint it. I just wanted to let you know.

Yeah, on Ebay, there have only been 2 S13 silvia hoods sold since May 19th. Both of those were crap CF ones from OE Tuning. All of the guys who sell the conversions, sell them complete. They aren't willing to part them out.

Just to let you know. :D

Let the old dawg chime in here.

First, I'm no fan of CF, as you're doing it for looks not weight reduction. If you haven't relocated your battery to the trunk and changed over to 12 pound rims, you're not serious about weight.

Having said that, I saw a Spec V at our Phoenix meet with a CF hood that looked SWEET. He had a silver car. He painted each side of the hood silver (where the body lines flow) and left the center section CF... The center section narrowed down to where the grille lines blend up into the hood... Hard to describe, but go to the Phoenix Meet thread in the NICO NEWS forum and click on the link to the pics - I think you can see it there.

Actually, I'm not doing it for looks. If that were the case, I would not have strong thoughts of painting it. And, as a matter of fact, I have moved my battery to the trunk and my rims only weigh 16 lbs.

I like the CF look on some cars.If your car was silver or black(really just about any color than white)or had dark wheels(black/gun metal) then I'd say the CF would look great but since your pimpin the snow white look you almost have to paint it!;)

BTW:This S13 looks better in person than in the photos if you can believe that.

Type S's are dead sexy. This is seriously one of the cleanest rsx's around. the whole thing is well done. Well, cept for the stereo, needs a bit of rice to make that show quality. :)

paint it...a bare carbon-fiber hood to me is ugly and "rice"

if you want to show it off...leave it bare...but it would look 10x better painted

it comes down to this: CF = Bling Bling. I think it looks awesome. My brother's car is all white with a CF hood and it looks mean as hell. I wish I had pics. If you paint it, you are just saying you don't care that you have a CF hood and you don't care if anyone else knows. which is fine cuz your car will look bada$$ either way.To those who say CF "isn't supposed to be painted" well not realy. I'm sure the people who started putting unpainted CF hoods on their (street)cars did it to say "hey look at my bada$$ carbon fiber hood!"I vote leave it, but you seem like the type who doesn't care so I won't blame you for painting it either.

Know what i think would look really dope? Why dont you get your wheels powder coated, instead of painting the hood. Black wheels, with a cf hood looks real nice. How can anyone want to paint such a beutiful material? or call it rice. Putting a cf sticker on ur car is rice, but ur hood looks real nice. Check out my car, i have a red 240, with black cf hood, and black powder coate 17's. I also got the bomex eyebrow, and painted that black. Everyone that sees my car loves it, and lots of people are actually intimidated by the car. I dont know if its a good thing, but it looks real nice. Once u get your car back, put it on, post picks, and run another poll with the hood on your car. id like the see the results of that poll. Late

That RSX does look good with the stickers on the hood. They match the lines of the car real well.I dont think that this technique will work on the S13 due to the lines the car has.Plus the RSX is silver which is a collor that CF looks great with.
