so i've come across this and wonder how many of you guys have that gf/fiance/wife that gives you hell about your s chassis?
and maybe tells you, "why dont you just buy a newer car with less problems"?
what do you say to them??

Hahaha ... ooo, can of worms waiting to open here! Well, the "ex" wife was pretty cool about my acquiring and modifying the ol' 240, ableit I felt like taking out a second mortgage! My fiance now really doesn't care for the car itself; just cares that I care about it which is good enough. However, with the ever-hindering responsibilities of parenting and home improvement, well you can see where that puts her thinking into what I need to pay more attention to, nevertheless where the money should go.

My S13 & S14 have relatively few problems. My ladies hate how preoccupied I am with the cars, but they love how I have more money to spend on them because I don't have a car note.

If I kicked chicks to the curb for one year, I'm certain I'd have more than enough money to finish both my cars... :frown:

If my lady told me I was spending too much on my car and not enough on her, I'd kick her to the curb. My fiance hates the car itself but understands my love for the chassis. Hell, she's even bought me a few parts

Why? Just because you have one?

My (main) girl has begun to cultivate her own enthusiasm for cars too, but I wouldn't want her to be in a 240 and neither does she. She's not quite sure what she wants, but we both know it ain't a 240. I know she wants a low F150 truck. But for a toy car, she's interested in the MR-S, IS300 and SC400. I like her taste. :yesnod

In the past Ive always heard crap about why dont you just get a new car, you can afford it. My response is always, I own my car, I dont believe in making payments on a car. The shock I get from that alone, always throws me off. Females really think its ok to be making 40k and driving a brand new bmw or benz with a 1k monthly payment. WTF?

Crap about how its too loud in the car I cant hear you talk (solid subframe bushings, BRM exhaust). The GF that said that, I told her you need to speak up, or pipe down, two options. From there on out everywhere we went we rode in her car. She lasted a month after that. Crap about how its not bright enough in the car that they cant put on some makeup. Told that one that she coulda just spent the extra time in her own bathroom or mine to put on some makeup. I heard about it for 15-20 mins after that.

A female I was about to check, saw my car and said, I cant believe you drive a POS car. I said my car is clean on the outside AND clean on the inside, its not dirty, there are no empty starbucks or random s*** in the car. I think my POS car beats your POS car, she never called back. I called once and she didnt return the message. Another female saw my wheels and said, I dont understand why guys spend so much money on rims. I said what do you mean by that? These are nissan wheels? She said yeah but they look all big.....17 inch 350z OEM alloy wheels??? My sisters and my mom have told me I need to get a new car if I want to get a serious GF.

My litmus test? If you cant put up with the car, its just not going to work. Current status: single. :bigthumb:

My car has a long list of problems, but my girlfriend loves it! Even I have pondered selling it to buy an s13 in better shape, but she won't let me haha. She'll even buy stuff for it and help me work on it sometimes.

Girls that ACTUALLY give me crap for having a crappy car don't deserve my time.

my girlfriend always says i love my car too much, sometimes more than her.... even though i pay for her everytime we go out, buy her random gifts, etc. when my 2nd 240's trans went and i had to sell it, i was without a car for a while since i wanted another 240 and she kept giving me hell about it. i didnt want some POS DD civic or VW so i just listened to her complaining for a month

edit: she always says she misses my s13, and she loves my current s14, so i guess she's a keeper :)

My girl likes the way it looks, wishes it were more comfortable and quiet.

Most comments are reserved for my "dirty hands" and "Time spent in the garage away from her."

She has never bought me a car part, so its not like she enabling me to work on my car, she doesn't prevent it from happening. Some pouting may happen.

I'm right there with you, bro. Here's the problem: We live in DFW - The home of the $30k Millionaire. Girls around here are too used to guys who live outside their means like Big Ballers on a Customer Service budget.

I trip out when I go to work and see ppl doing the exact same job as me driving cars that I know are waaaay outside our paygrade...

My girl is so awesome. She likes the way my car looks (even though paint is s***) and She likes the fact that i put my time and effort into it. She's even given me her hard-earned money to put into it occasionally without me asking! She is a keeper for sure :naughty:

I am one of those fortunate boyfriends that have a girlfriend that knows more about cars then most guys, and mods her own car by herself.
This is her christmas present too me without even me asking or me knowing anything about it.

My wife is cool about my s13. she never rides in it (mainly due to there being no room for my son's booster seat and we have 2 other cars)

she hates the fact i spend so much time and money on it, but likes that i have something to go do so she can watch her stupid shows on tv, like one tree hill....that is the worst show ever produced

Badbob my gf would freak if she read that comment about one tree hill. My gf likes 240's and she actually said she would like to own a pink sil40, so I thought that was cool. She hates work time tho. Always complains about my dirty hands and the grease and oil smell.

my girl is the dividing line of the keeper because she likes cars too, and not keeper because she doesnt like car stuff. she's mind changer, she's told me many times i wanna help you work on your car, i want a 240 too, i think we should take your car and go somewhere pretty so i can model:naughty:( she is jdm, well asian..), which we have yet to do since its always cold or 100% humidity then that turns her off for anything car related, but she's alwas saying you spend to much on your car. i say well its going bad, and i wanna fix it before it break and it causes me to wreck. that how i got megan streets :chuckle:. now im thinking of an excuse for turbo.. because she likes the boost, but not the price...

My GF used to own/build Harley's and had a 68 Camaro. So she enjoys me working on my car. She looks at my car as a newer Datsun so we are on the same page. I told her that I don't want a new car because the new ones look like crap, nearly impossible to work on without taking it to a shop, and are garbage.
She wanted me to get a new beater car and trade for a newer Corolla. Told her I didn't like the newer ones plus they are heavy and slow. She understands that just because you make decent money doesn't mean you have to carry a car 500+ car note every month.

I think overall if your lady has a problem with you working on your car, it should be addressed. If she doesn't have the money to fork up every month for a 3-5 year note, or repairs then she shouldn't be complaining. Modding cars is a hobby. I'd rather see somebody do that than doing serious drugs and not know where they are. At least they know you are working on your car. :D
