So your engine mount was made like one piece steel or something?

So cutting and welding the crossmember is better than cutting and welding engine mounts?

If you cut right through the k-frame you'd run into the same issues we're warning you about. But that's not what has happened.

But "cups" are alot stronger and forgiving under shock and vibratioinal load than plate anyway. Also, it's not that dissimilar to what Nissan do to create their k-frame anyway.

Any bushing involved? I'm planning for some rubber but can't find suitable one yet.

You can essentually make up your own mounts using 2x (L&R)

3x High tensile bolts3x Lock Nuts6x Washers3x 6-8mm thick rubber Disks, 70mm Dia4x 2mm thick metal Disks, 80mm Dia

Drill through the centre of each of the disks (metal and rubber) and bolt together in a sandwich manner.

Drill 2 more holes right through all, on opposite sides of the center bolt.

Then when mounting, put the two bolts through the k-frame mount/bracket and the single centre one through the engine mount/bracket.

If need be, you can drill a larger holes in the outter disks to "countersink" the bolt heads. Though if doing that, i'd increase the number of disks (both rubber and metal by at least 2 each side.

Bob's your uncle... DIY engine mounts.

Isn't that like the bushing?

Ahhh the old Trans-Atlantic communication Breakdown.

Yes, it is the "bushing" we call that the engine mount.

The engine mounting bracket is now what i think you were asking about?

Or was it the bushing.. I'm confusing myself now.

Advantage of that type is it's less prone to cracking / splitting than a single piece and you can adjust the thickness / cushin by adding or taking out layers.

Do you know that plastic really doesn't transfer heat so much as metal does? That's why they don't make factory intake manifold in stainless steel.

Yea? And you thought a black manifold would absorb heat. AND, part of your intake manifold was gonna be steel anyway.... Oop, sorry. "Mock-up" manifold. Your new name is gonna be....... Mr. Negativity. Or Mr. Know-it-all, I'm not sure which. Either way Soravia; I have decided not to refer to you as Soravia any more. Instead, I will refer to you as one of the afore mentioned names. That is unless you explain to me that "Soravia" does in fact mean "Mr. Negativity" or "Mr. Know-it-all" in another language.

who has ever made a manifold out of stainless, there either plastic or cast aluminum if you really want to get technical...and as i also said WHO CARES. it does not matter. where does you expertise come from, is this a hobby for you or do you make a living working on car, if the later i dont think you could possibly be making enough money to afford a build. anyways good luck to you on you build it sounds interesting and good luck with that manifold.

Why are you so hung up on heat transfer/heat soak on the intake manifold? I don't think manufacturers decided to go with plastic intake manifolds just because of heat transfer soravia, I believe they did that because of fuel economy and weight savings. And in any case if your intake manifold at idle suffered from heat soak it really doesn't matter once you hit the gas pedal it will suck fresh cool air in a matter of milliseconds. So as "the technichian" said it doesn't matter and who cares.

I wonder how heat transfer works on intercoolers for turbo charged engines then? The air shouldn't be so hot just because it passed through the turbine next to the exhaust turbine.

the major heat gain in regards to an intake on a turbo is because of the increase in pressure, not from heat soak. Yes, there is heat soak, but minimal... so minimal in fact you can practically ignore it.

What it does do however, is increase the under bonnet temps with more exhaust componenets and as a result increases heat soak to the engine that way (particularly if not moving, have a Pod filter that is not shielded / not taking in cold air, and have thermo fans that are constantly switching on and off)

Your comparing apples to oranges soravia N/A vs Turbo. Of course turbo motors generate more heat hence the need of an intercooler.

the smaller rims are 5 lug Q45 rims that have been sand blasted and polished and painted. the big monster rims are nismo 18 inch rims there designed for the 350z but with lug conversion they fit great around 300z brakes. its a thing of beauty.....if anumeric would post any more pictures you could see that.

Did you seriously just ask that question

If you dont mind me asking how much would that build cost for someone to have it done?

My assumption was a VQ35... but as i cant see squat with the FMIC, Turbo, Exhaust and IC piping i couldnt confirm.

That and the fact it could be a VQ40 or anything else in the VQ/H series.
