car only revs to 5k?

i bet it's something electical like the mafs, tps or maybe the 02 sensor. Try unplugging the tps and some o2 sensors and see if that changes anything

my guess is maf since i know when i unplug that it idles perfect and sounds healthy when i rev to 3k with it. yet i notice somedays if i unplug it itll run horrible yet most of the time its good, so im planning to buy a new maf so hope thatll get better results. also i notice whenever i have my clutch in my car tries to die on me

i just looked and noticed where ud mount the bov on the intercooler kit its wide open. my friend said he put a bottle cap there though, you think it could have got sucked in? or fallen off, i took the piping off and didnt find anything.

is it before the ic? i might've gotten stuck in the intercooler but if it's after then idk lol

most likely he capped it off which means it's too big to fall in? so you should be good.

yeah it was by the throttle body, so ima get a new cap that i can really strap down, i sent my maf down to the sr20 store for the guy can test to see if its a bad maf or not i have, so hopefully i can get this thing running. i hate not being able to drive it to class!! haha

yeah haha im really sad since i havent been able to drive for 2 months and im having to drive around my dads slow honda lol i shifting!! also wanna see how much of a power gain im gonna feel with the sr20 hehe

driving a boosted s-chassis to school is f***in awesome I'm stock as of now but I still have my car so i'm happy =]

don't get caught with your sr... you should invest in a stealthy exhaust, black fmic and try and leave the sr as stock-looking as possible. I'd hate to see another nissan guy get bent over by CA's strict smog laws.

also i capd off that part on the intercooler where it was leaking and the car ran alot nicer, even though i still dont have the maf yet. i noticed after reving it to the 2.5k rev limiter and let it idle back down it idles rough but then if u lift the throttle body a lil high then slowly let it down it sounds good again. that gotta do with the tps?

^dunno, but you don't have the mafs hooked up right? That's probably the problem.

i wouldn't go with a stock exhaust. I would go with a 3 inch exhaust that goes to a stock-looking dual tip muffler. If you must go with the stock just make it temporary

ya the maf isnt hooked up since its in la with the guy still, ight, so maybe try getting that apexi noir exhaust then?

sweet just got email from the guy saying my maf is perfectly fine and works on the engine down there so i dont have to replace. guess that leak was the problem haha

today i started up car again to keep everything going and noticed if i rev the car up fast itll go perfect but once i rev the car slow it starts to sputter and black smoke comes out? is that because i dont have my maf hooked up still?

ok i just installed maf, car revs great no more black smoke when i rev under 5k, and now it just has a rough idle, its idleing at 800 rpms. any advice or fixing that?

i think normal idle speed is about 750 rpms +- 50 rpm

does it hesitate when you give it gas?

hmm i dont think so when i gave it some gas it just reved up nice, my cars at the transmission shop right now but when i get it back later today ill make a video to show you

well just got news from the transmission shop saying the springs on my spec clutch is @#% up and the throw out bearing is shot, sad i didnt even get to drive the car!!! so ima talk to spec and see why i got sent a clutch that was f***ed up

hm that seems kinda shady dude, I'd definitely look at the "damage" when they take it out.

as for the engine start with the basics and make sure everything is plugged in, especially if you tampered with it before pulling the TPS sensor off and what not.

well i know this guy knows whats up since he did my last clutch and hes also one of my dads best friends since high school haha, he said the clutch disc was good but the clutch plates forks are bad, since he said when he took the transmission off he saw one of them already broken off. once i get the car back ill look over the wiring making sure everything is tightly secured

i ended up having to get a stock one and throwing it in, now i got my spec one out so im waiting for an email back from spec which is taking a day now, so im going to get a hold of 240sxmotoring since i bought from them to see if they can have any luck getting a reply from spec, like 3 fingers from the spec clutch plate is broken off
