A GT2 would own a Ford GT!! Ford GT ($120,000)- 500 hp , 0.99g , 12.2 1/4 mile. GT2 ($185,000)- 456 hp , 1.02g , 11.9 1/4 mile. Not by much but for $65,000 more I'd rather my car say Porsche than Ford.

But even the weakest Lingenfelter orvette (650 hp) would own all and it did in 2002's supercar challenge!! $113,000 - 650 hp , 1.02g , 12.3 1/4 mile. That was good enough to beat a 720 hp porsche and the 800 hp Venom Twin Turbo Viper.

click on a car and check out the specs!!:ylsuper

65k is a good chunk of money. Thats more than 50% more than the ford. Wonder what spending tat 65k on the ford would bring about. :D

Well a good comparison for what could be done with the Ford GT is the 03+ Cobra Mustang. it's already hiting 9's with full interior and stock block. there are companys that are going to swap to turbos next year, and feel they will be able to get up to 1500hp on the stock 4.6L long block and be running low 8's if not 7's.

The GT is the 5.4L block built for boost just like the cobra, install a smaller pulley and your rocking 700hp, add a more agresive suspention, and its beating even more. but personly i am more interested in the new C6.

Congrats, you passed stereotyping 101. I've seen a whole lot more people that cant drive inexpensive cars than I see that can't drive exotics. Most exotic car owners I know (and I know several) drive their cars far more conseratively as they have far more to lose if something bad happens. I'd be more concerned about the teenaged boy in a big winged 240sx or Mustank who has a chip on his shoulder than a exotic car driver. I never considered drag racing my dad's Ferrari and I got challenged most times I drove it. Of course there are some azzholes that drive exotics poorly, but I wouldn't condemn someone just because they can afford an exotic.

for the most part, thats all i see. guys who just buy the car because they can. i dont see all too many guys driving them for the purpose that they were built for. i have seen a few guys in porsches, and Z06s, but thats it. most of the boxsters i see are driven by middle aged guys or middle aged women. vipers around here are driven by people who get them as a status symbol. and the list continues. i know there are the few they really know what they're driving, and i like to meet these people because they are often pretty wise. but its the people who get these cars as status symbols or girl getters that pisses me off.

There are very few people that buy exotic sports cars that actually use them at the track. Too risky and very expensive to fix if something breaks. Only a few of the exotic car owners I actually use their exotics on the track at all. But I'm not sure why you have an issue with someone who buys a fancy sports car for any reason. It's their money. Personally I'd feel sorry for a guy that feels he has to buy a Ferrari in order to attract women or feel superior to someone else. Why feel angryy that he/she spent so much $ on a car that does the same thing as your $2000 Nissan? Of the exotic car owners I know, attracting women and showing them off to less expensive car owners was not a consideration when they bought 'em. I actually am repulsed more with kids that rice up their mom's Accord or Hyundai than I do with a middle aged mom in a Porsche.

i guess its just that i have spent so much time reading and researching and dreaming of these cars and when i get to see them, its mostly people who dont know how to appreciate them. i can see the point of not taking a car to the track, but why buy a car made to race if you dont race it? i see a lot of younger guys to middle aged guys who get these top dollar cars and i know its not to impress the folks. i do find it funny that i can keep up with some in the turns and my car is three colors and in need of body work. i guess it just goes back to the fact that i know what the car is and the history behind it and the person i see driving it sees it as a *insert name* and know that its expensive and people want one.

I understand what you mean. Why buy a car made to race and not race it? Because it's responsive and fun. But on the other hand, why do teenagers slap these big dumb wings and Type R stickers on underpowered 240sx's that aren't deisnged to be raced and try to find people to race them? I'm probably a little less impressed than most people with exotics having grown up with them. But I've have learned to appreciate any car that I drive. I enjoyed tossing an underpowered 240sx or a Miata around the track just as much as I did in my friend's twin turbo 911 on race slicks. But I probably enjoyed the little Nissan more as it required more work to coax quick laps. Less power and less grip can be a hoot. Perspective is all you need.

I do have to admit I giggle whenever I lap someone with a much more powerful car. And I've done that many times. But I say appreciate the car, and don't concern yourself with the owner.

no, that's why rich people should take their "cheap" porsche to the track and get good before they take out a "nice" car lol

looks like a lambo.

oh and as for cheap lapping expensive. my friend james was telling me about their ITA SE-R that was slapping around a porsche on the track. the thing would own the SE-R in the straights, but the little nissan was right on the guys *** in the twisties. not bad for a car that cost $14k new.

yea i saw the mtv show and the guy was upset that the enzo didnt have opwer windows. I was more upset that Ferrari even let him have the opportunity to own one of only 349 cars made. I thought they had the special 'Ferrari Preffereed Customers' list that they sold them to, not Mr. I'm rich cause i sell out date clothes

yea and he also asked the salesman if ralph (lauren) bought one and when he replied "no" he seemed really surprised. "What? Ralph didnt buy one?" like its something they do on a normal basis (buying ferraris)

Bzzzt. Incorrect. It was a 1964 330 America. (V-12, baby). Only 50 of them ever made. My father had it for over 20 years. I started driving it as a teenager, logged several thousand miles on her. Never on a track, just the street. He sold it several years ago when the Ferrari market went nuclear. Before the Ferrari, he had a '56 Jaguar XK140 drophead coupe. He said he preferred driving the Jag more when it ran, which wasn't very often as it was such a lemon. The Ferrari was amazingly reliable, and much better made. No plastic. But extremely expensive routine maintenance costs.

XK140. The 140 replaced the 120. the 140 Looks virtually the same as the 120 except for a real bumper in the front. Very sexy car. Always drew a crowd.

There was a period in the early 90's when used Ferrari prices made a huge leap, especially among the older front engined V-12's and to some extent those V-6 246 Dino's. (the plentiful mid engined 8 cyl ones that most people see around didn't jump so much). People were willing to pay huge premiums for them. It lasted only a couple years. Two years after my dad sold his 330, the market came to its senses and the car was worth a little more than half the buyer paid.

I blame it on Miami Vice...

You must have a very trusting father or he just doesn't care as much about material things so much as his son's happiness.

I just keep picturing Ferris Bueller's Day Off in my head...
