I Need $$$ wrote:Alright I guess my post earlier was misleading. I do know for a fact that an H&K USP40 will automatically load one in the chamber when you insert the clip with force. My brother owns one and I saw him do it about a month ago when I was home. I was drunk when I saw it but when I called him and he confirmed it.

not unless the slide is locked back, with a spent cartridge in the extractor.

Go with the USP, it will be by far the more intimidating weapon, because it's more known.

It's also one helluva gun to shoot, I loved the one I rented at the range. I like the USP because the grip is large, and I have huge hands, plus, it shot naturally to me. When I turn 21 I'm buying a USP <3

Makarov is said to have the worst double action trigger pull ever, does it? It's really a weaker round for the size too. don't much care for anything smaller then 9mm for a carry gun.

oh, doesn't much look like a Walther PPK to me either, the PA-63 is a different story however...

Yashin, the same thing's been said about wanting more performance from a car. It's just something women say when they're not getting it done right:D

USP's are said to be really sweet, and come in a variaty of trigger/safety configs (11 or so different ones I think). I'd like to have a .357 Compact even though it's almost too small for my hands.

I also looked at the baby eagle in .40 cal. Bought a kel tech p40, i think was the model. It was a good gun, but I could not handle the 40 in that small of a package. Sold to an officer friend of mine and got me another ruger 9mm. i would have liked to shoot the Baby Eagle to see if it would have beeter being a heavier gun.

My Makarov is a piece of crap but at 10-15 feet, it is effective. A friend of mine owns a gun shop and swears by them for cheap protection. The 9x18 round is not as strong as a 9mm luger, but with hollowpoints it is effective. Not pretty, cheap, but it was the issued pistol for the KGB. Conversation piece. Yes, the 1911 .45 is better.

Kel Tec .40....

I hate shooting those, the trigger pull irritates the hell out of me, pull and pull and pull and just when you think it should break, you pull a little more...Too small for my hands to hold it comfortably too

I only went with it due to price and the fact that a few officers I know were getting the kel-tec in .32 cal. It was the hot choice for the get-off-me gun for awhile. Small and effective at a short range.

I had a problem weak wristing the .40 cal. Caused a couple of stove pipes. To my knowledge it was not a common occurance. So I have concluded it was due to my shooting style and the guns lite weight.

That is why I went back to the old faithfull Rugers. I wish I had never sold my .44 Super Black Hawk.

I would get the sig. Sigs are known everywhere as being a very easy to use and reliable gun. Everyone i know likes the sigs. Do you really need that big of a round tho. I would got with a 40 cal.

Yeah, Sigs are very nice....but too expensive for me. If you can afford one, definitely get it! The main function of the gun is to accurately propel the bullet. So focus first on the caliber then on the gun.

prices are gonna vary store to store really, you can always look at the companies' web sites, best found by googling for them because they get all crazy and have weird names for the site sometimes.

usually you can find the guns 50 -100 dollars below MSRP if you're lucky:D

Find a federally licensed dealer, tell him what you want, he can order it in at cost, then add a handling fee. Usally this will get you the best price. Most will do this, some won't. Check around.

When you finish a clip the slide is already locked back. This is a good website to go to for guns. Its kind of like an E-Bay for guns.

Well, here's my $.02.

I would never trust anything but my glock. I have a full size in 10mm and it's both powerfull and acurate. I have a few targerts with 2" groups at 25 yards. I've never had any type of malfunction with it either. And it holds 15 rounds.

Sigs are good, thier reliablility are second only to gockm but too many bells and whistles and $ for me.

1911s are nice but They don't come close in the reliability dept. I don't know how many feed problems I've had with ours. My father has a Colt officer's model, gold cup, a Kimber custom classic II and the baby kimber. I like them to shoot, but never to trust my life to. The barrel canterline is also further away from the top of the hand than the glock, this can lead to increased muzzel flip and longer target re-acuisition time. I was giving my father a load of crap for his $1000 kimber one day as he was cleaning it, he's taling about refinement and blah blah, then it jams on him as he tries to chamber a round. He stops talking and I say "Boy, that's never hapened with my glock." Now he carries a glock .40.

I can see your point with .45s though. What's big only gets bigger.

well, the .45 was never originally designed to take hollow point ammo, if it jammed with an FMJ he's got a problem and I really doubt it was a manufacturer's flaw when it comes to Kimber.

I've seen Glocks with bad recoil springs and what not too, but reliability with any of his choices is not an issue what so ever

for a gun to carry, I'd go with a short Kimber, it's slimmer and not as edged as the other autopistols.

if I had the money, I'd so just go buy all the three of his choices and give a good report on the function and comfort of the:D

500 is a bit much for a used witness unless the ammo in question is in the 1000's or some really good defensive ammo:)

if i could have any gun, i would get an AR-15, for soem reason ive loved them for a long time, as far as a hand gun im not sure, a good ol' remington or something simple would work for me.

remington doesn't make handguns boss.

Smith and Wesson probably makes one of the Finest revolvers in the world. Some say Colt does, but only the Python and the SAA are gonna be close. (the Python is probably hands down the finest 357 Mag ever though)

AR is nice and all, but it's really not a very reliable gun in most combat situations. I'd much rather have an AK or an HK (preferably the latter due to much better accuracy, but it's a freakin' heavy gun) It's got a hell of an aftermarket for it though...

what about shotguns? Ive never fired a benelli, but I hear such good thing bout them that Ive been considering buying one.

As far as handguns, I guess Im the only guy who likes the Beretta chambered in .40 . really, really reliable, good looking in black, and can be had for fairly cheap. Plus Chow-yun-fat uses them all the damn time in John woo movies :D.

seriously though... theyve been the standard LE sidearm for a ton of agencies for so long... what issues have you guys had with them?
