like the fat kid on teh cupcake, right?

the short story right now (forget if i said it, damn i write some long *** posts)

is that the CAE86 is on hold for now, and a rebuilt 4age is going in it (new stock pistons, balanced rotating assembly) the long block is sitting in my garage on a stand, needing an oil pan and alt+PS pump... and an intake manifold and stuff. and the car is right out front of the garage, (exactly where it is in my sig pic) been waiting because im recovering from a surgery :\ along with crunch time at teh end of the semester for my courses (finishing my degree online)

if anyones interested, i got all As on my physics class, except for the 2 assignments that i didnt get submitted in time :\

but its going to stay with a 4A until after i move. the goal right now is have all teh cars moving for when we move a few states over.

after we get settled in with the new house and job and stuff, projects will resume

and the AE86 will be what i relearn to race with. being that a 4age is what? 125 at the crank? i should be able to concentrate on driving it, before i have to control a 200+ whp 2150 lb car

but then all projects resume, with the hoss ca18 going in the s13, and the E86 becoming the testbed car .. it will at some point be a CAE86, a KAE86, a ME86 (like TMS said, 7m FTW)

so yeah, i do want to see info on any other CAE86 projects tho, if you find easier ways to do anything, im all ears

The second aero bumper has some damage. Give me your email and I'll send some pics. It can be fixed but I only bought it as a backup. I LOVE THE AERO BUMPER. Especially over any other bumper. I would be willing to trade though. Got any LEVIN or JDM AE86 parts? I don't need any S13 or Nissan stuff. My S13 is just about done. Only thing left is the body. My email is [email protected]. Get at me homie.

PS. I'd trade for a JDM R32 GTR spoiler too.

If you need any 4AGE parts from my engine let me know. I don't really need any of it. Get my email from my last post and let me know. I'd sell dirt cheap. If I didn't then I would just throw the whole engine and transmission away at the JY. I'm at Ft. Campbell, KY. How far will you be from me when you move? And yeah I'm in the Army. I deploy in 10 months back to Iraq too. HOOAH!

Got both emails from you guys. Give me a few days. The Army has me doing a few training things this week. NBC (NUCLEAR, BIOLOGICAL CHEMICAL) stuff. I do have the water pump. Give me time for the Aero bumper PIC's also.

Also have the 4AGE engine and transmission if anyone wants it to use as a rebuild or back-up engine. They are both just sitting around. I'd trade for info and parts on the digital gauge cluster swap for the AE86!!!!

i think both my toyotas came with an optional digital dash at some point. the ae86 is well documented. Ive seen some pics of*X-bodys (im pretty sure it was a chaser) with a digi cluster.

i am a huge nerd and would love to switch both of them to digital (thats sometime when all the bigger stuff is taken care of)

I need that info ASAP. I recently paid for it from a guy off of Club4ag but I think he's trying to screw me. He still hasn't emailed the install instructions. Club4ag folk aren't as helpful and receptive as here. When I get the instructions I wanna post a how-to on Club4ag and on JDMBLOGS.COM where every other article I've written is currently posted. Your info would be great. Toyota forums SUCK!!!!

here you go

this link is to ae86slut on toymods (au)his CAE86

its green. ******* green

http://www.toymods.net/forums/...=544

this is the guy i got most of my info from, he didnt do the mods tho, he bought the front subframe (and i think he paid $200AU for a running CA18det ) .... altho, i really cant complain, i got a 'running' (minus banged up oil pan that wouild never seal and broken oil pump) for $100US from a wrecked 180sx

except cylinder 3 turned out to be a little out of spec (wont matter for the 84mm tomei pistons tho )

so yeah. this is a real-deal CA E86 that goes to events. i think he does drift events (been awhile since i read his stuff). but ive talked to him, and he has some good info

CJ

edit> this is ALSO where i learned about KKR turbos, .... toymods had nothing but good reviews on them... fast spooling for nonBB turbo, and cheap

yeah, ae86 digi instrument cluster is a nice looking unit.

club4ag has been flooded with idiots.... widespread takeover on most other forums also I noticed.

I believe you gotta register to view toyomods "member rides" page now. They stopped open viewing long ago..... wierdos on that site.

Jeremy worked at Otomoto who sold the KKRs I think.Seen other chinese turbos flexing at 25-30psi. watch out Garrett !

rollamods "rides" page have a few hot ca18 street corollas. Most of them are the older KE series 76-80, but nice as hell still.twincam older pages show a few ca18/ae86

hahaha + 3 yeah thats not an ae86 .......

who else is doing this swap ?? .....anyone else have info on this ?? ?.....im doing the swap right now ....finally recieved my CA18+ae86 mounts from anthony kallem in australia ......

so far i mated up the rb20 transmission with the CA18 bell housing .......i really want to drop the motor in already but the motor isnt done

i still need a clutch, fly wheel bolts, metal head gasket , ARP head bolts, all gaskets and seals.......

i checked the motor seems like it will work alright but .....results from the compression test ....i wasnt happy ......rings all 4 of the cylinders leaked a lil ... .......it could also be that i checked it when the engine is cold .....there no other way for me to check it .......but it isnt too bad tho .....still with in spec ....just lower then normal spec

im thinkin of building it from the ground up .........fully build the block and head .......either with jun or tomie parts

i have a long way to go .......haha any suggestion guys ?....also i live here i the US ...so parts are very hard to find

Rebuild the engine completely. That's what I'm doing. Stick with TOMEI or HKS stuff. Check out this website: http://www.nengun.com. It's owned by an aussie but it's in Japan. I've bought HARD to find parts from him for my RB and for my S13. On some parts, he's cheaper than top hat and ebay. Remember that your engine is pretty old. A rebuild is not a bad idea.

How much did you pay for the mounts and how can I get my hands on a set? Did you get transmission mounts too or just engine mounts?

2JZ would be hot, I remember seeing a dvd or something with a guy that had one swapped in. That 1jz ae86 is hot.
