The average family will pay over $3400 for the Iraq fiasco. Check out this article full of "bright and shiny" projects for conservatives to tackle and how much they cost.

I said i would quit, I liedBush isn't a liar, all the things he said were there were, but ima play your little game and pretend that those things, AQ and WMDs, weren't found. Bush didn't lie about them. A lie is when you say something that you know is false. Bush had intel gathered by CIA that he believed as true, so lets pretend these things where never found. Bush couldn't have lied if he believed them as fact, therefore he is not a liar, if these things weren't found, which they were, you could argue an intelligence failure, not a liar

i'd rather spend 3,400 on the war then it going to feed lazy poor people who won't get a job, or to the medical care of a crackhead who was high when he fell down in a street and got hit by a car

Here's a REALLY radical idea...phase out social security over the course of several years (as in...a lot, maybe 20) and go to a system where everyone manages their own retirement, plans and saves for it all themselves. Its a crazy concept, but just MAYBE some people would be a bit more responsible with their finances.

Sounds like a good plan to me. I'll save for my own retirement. I hate that I give a part of my paycheck to the govt so they can basically look over it for me until they decide I need it.

Agreed, wellfare, medicare, medicaid, and other social programs should all become ONE program: get a damn job.

The only problem with getting rid of medicare and medicaid is the excessive price of proper medical care. Everyone gets hurt or sick, not everyone can afford to have it taken care of. I know I couldn't if I wasn't still covered under my parents medical insurance. I am completely for getting rid of these social programs if costs can be more practical.

Well how about the millions of college students who struggle between rent and tuition? The future leaders of this country going through college with no health care. Your only 16, but when you get to college you'll eventually understand. Its a law in the US that if your a full-time student you must have health insurances. Try balancing rent, tuition, car payments/insurance, and health care with only 10-15 hrs/wk of work.

Not all of the people on Government funded programs are "Lazy poor people" or "Crackheads".

Last I checked, my college offered a form of medical insurance for a reasonable fee. In fact, my girlfriend will probably have to get it since her parents AMAZINGLY have no medical coverage on her...which is unacceptable.

Same here my college offer health insurance also for $600 bucks a year. Not bad, but you have to read what they cover. Coverage probably vary from college to college. Here's my coverage:

1) No dental2) Pays 30% of doctors bill3) Pays 25% of prescriptions

Sure the price they're asking is reasonable, but like the old saying goes "You get what you pay for". Do you know how much a checkup/prescriptions costed now a days? Good health insurances doesn't go for the hundreds it's in the thousand(s) a year. If its was as easy as you said it. Millions of college students would be in debt up to their eyes right now. I wouldn't mind paying that price if they took 40-50 percent of the doctors bill. But 30% off an emergency room visit is not much buddy.

Most of them ARE in debt up to their eyes right now ;) I KNOW my girlfriend will be...and once I get around to marrying her, then so shall I! Its just how it goes. And yeah, thats ****TY medical coverage, not worth having. Soon I'll have to help her out with looking into her options, so I'm sure I'll find out if ours is any different. I know we have an on campus clinic that is free for all students, its pretty full service too. Obviously nothing like MRI's or advanced procedures, but for 90% of your normal health problems they have you covered. From what my friends tell me they are actually rather competent and helpful. I think you pay a small co-pay for prescriptions through them, but I'm not certain.

I'm in college too, and I'm in debt because I'm balancing rent/food/car payments/insurance, etc... Fortunatly my parents help me with my tuition, as architecture is a very expensive major and I wouldn't me able to manage the projects and the tuition. We also have a clinic on campus that will take care of all general health problems, and that's a major help. Notice also that I said I would be all for wiping out these social programs if medical costs became more practical.

If Bush gets re-elected, I envision the nation's emblem could easily be changed from a bald eagle to a condom.

A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pr!cks,

We're getting totally off topic here...but one of the huge problems with the cost of medical coverage is all the people suing for malpractice. I was fully in support on a cap on malpractice suits...it seems the majority were not though :(. It even effects lawyers, my friends dad is a lawyer and I just learned that they have insurance for malpractice like suits just as doctors do. All the suing in this country is just ridiculous.

The US spends the greatest percentage of GDP on healthcare yet has over 40 million uninsured. The US is the only industrialized country not to have a national healthcare plan. The US is far down the list in average life expectancy.

After the dotcom melt down there wold have been 10s thousands left destitute if there were no SS.

I find it amusing to read the thoughts of inexperienced people wanting to roll back the clock to set up some kind of d!ck society. Remember, generations before us lived in exactly the type of society some of you long for and found it quite unsatifactory. Many social programs were enacted that have changed the way we experience and live life. Those who forget where they came from are most certainly bound to end up where they started.

Child labor laws repealed next? Lazy kids and they work for cheap. They could compete with illegal immigrants for the low pay unskilled jobs.
