Ok right now I am in the process of lookin for another 240sx cause I recently get in a wreck and it destroyed the car and now its only good for parts. I used this car to learn drifting techniques in and try to get decent at it because i love the sport. BUT when I find a new 240 all i have from my car is Tein Drift Coilovers, 2-way LSD, and an SR20 motor. My question is what all should I do to this car when I first get it? I need some direction so I know what I need to plan on but I start, cause I hate a car that is not well thought out or poorly put together. Anyways I see alot of people well maybe not alot but some weld up the seams and really heavily work on the body's shiftness. I want to do this car right from the ground up. SO should I weld up the seams, put a rollcage in it, lighten up the body, and move the gas tank inside the car for better weight balancing? i'm not sure, hope to get some help thanks

Your not getting "shut down", Its just this topic was probably discussed before and you should really take the time out and get familiarized with the search function of the site, ( which really helps alot in answering your common questions) You may think people are being mean to you, but I call it tough love Its the only way you learn.

Try the search button up top.

Good luck with finding the information that you need.

Just think of it like building a house. you start with the foundation, with out a solid foundation your building would probably collapse to the ground correct? Just think about that concept while building a car. try getting your body/shell up to par like removing any rust that might have occurred over time, you dont want to punch it on the freeway and have your foot go through the floor board cause it was eaten up by rust..Research stitch welding the chassis people say that its a good way to reinforce your car.

yea that is why i want to start thinkin about this now. cause i miss my old 240 so bad and i know soon as i get it i will want to start work on it and i dont wanna put money where it shouldnt go right now, cause its highly easy to do. but i was thinking about a cage, welded seams, strut bars, and sway bars and that should take care of that part then i was going to work on the motor some and turbo it. and paint it work on interior then build the exterior and suspsension. but i dont know if that is the right way to go. but thanks for ur help i will search some and see what i can find its just so many links and alot of time tryin to find exactly what you need. thanks tho

I definently I agree with everyone who said search. You'll learn more that way than by listening to ppls opinions. But to guide your you search, I'd ask the question: Is this going to be a dedicated track car or will it mostly see street time as a daily driver?

I used to want to stitch/seam weld my chassis too. But I soon found that that is a bit overboard for a daily driver that occasionally hits the track. The chassis strengthening parts you listed are typically sufficient, but I might add fender braces, sway bars, strut bars, Nismo Power Brace and Energy Suspension bushings.

As far as weight distribution is concerned, of course ppl relocate their battery to varios places, but the thing I'm most interested in is this new thread that allows you to mount your motor an inch lower using modded oem engine mounts! Oh wait... that was for the KA... nevermind...

Go rep my homestate well and good luck, homie!

Start at the bottom like we all did.

Learn your car before you change your car.

Do some research.

Find things out on your own.

Get experience.

this car is strictly TRACK. it will be nice looking eventually after i get everything the way i want and can control it good. but i aint doing no big massive widebodys just maybe some oversized fenders/quarter panels. but i am decent at drifitng with my old 240 altho each are different i had my other one for 2 years before some drunk man hit me in the rear quarter destroying the car. but i know for the drifting i have done i want a stiffer ride which is why i am debating on stitch welding the seams, rollcage, and more stiffners. but thanks everyone for ur inputs i appreciate it greatly.

You should ask the guys in the suspension section they would give better advice or suggestions for you decision.

s14tan, you might just be the most patient guy on NICO i've seen, lol. most people would have given up long ago on a thread like this.

to the OP, stitch welding the chassis can be good, but make sure you do it right. cleaning the steel and welding critical points are the key to improving. do LOTS of research to make sure you do things that improve the car. GL!!

I just want to contribute something back to Nico, I was just like the OP not too long ago. I've posted my share of stupid post ( still do from time to time ) and people still answered them, so I know how it feels to make a post about a question I know nothing about and have people just ignore it and I'm just sitting here pondering "gee isn't Nico suppose to be the best Nissan forum on the web?"

I say good things come to those who are patient.I just hope the OP is actually taking in the information provided to him, or our efforts to help him were pointless.

When a thread gets 'Bumped' it simply just gets moved to the front page at the top of the list.Hence the term bumped.

Try it with a thread at the bottom of the page post some thing a refresh the main page and you'll see it first.

BTW:TTT means the same thing just stands for To The Top.

**Edit: 1234 post haha

Ok, cause i noticed that whenever you post on that thread. That it gets brought back up just below the stickies. And by bump is just saying I'm bringing this thread back to the top!?!? Thanks Tan
