ok well i have a bit of a "clearance" issue between my intercooler piping and my radiator hose. heres my dilema.

^^where the electrical tape is, is where i plan to install a SSQV when i get the money. My question is, since i dont think there is enough clearance for it to fit and not interfere with the radiator hose, should i route the radiator hose over the intercooler pipe, or just buy an aftermarket SR Radiator (which is cheaper for me BTW) and put the upper hose on the other side of the engine bay? let me know your thoughts, its one of those things keeping me up at night Thanks!

Maybe just weld a flange on the opposite side since there looks to no longer be a battery there.

They also sell those universal radiator hoses. Something like this maybe

Just some ideas.

yeah um sorry, time to be a d!ck... the word DUMBASS comes to mind when looking at that picture. I would be alot more logical to locate the flange in a way that it DOESNT interfere no? liek the above said, there seems to be no battery, so move it to the opposite side. or stick it over on the hotpipe coming off the turbo... or even better yet, put it behind the bumper on the FMIC elbow. theres a hundred thousand places you could put it... mine is in the most screwed up position ive ever seen one, but it works... it damn near points at the radiator on my hot pipe down next to my frame rail... it doesnt really matter whare it goes, all it does is vent excess boost... its a pressure relief valve...

first things first, QUICK BEING A d!ck! if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything at all

second thing, i took the battery out for the winter, sorry i didn't mention it before.

now, there is a HOLE in my IC pipe where the tape is, hence why it seems a logical place to put the BOV, not to mention the closer to the throttle body the better.

im not an idiot, i just wanted someone else's input.

cut that piece of pipe and re clock it. then grind down the welds, find someone with a polishing wheel and knowledge of polishing aluminum. and go to town. problem solved.

Im just a d!ck. sorry, thats just me.

as my family says, you are what you lol no im just kidding

what type of places would be able to weld aluminum? i think i may have someone cover the hole and then weld it on the other side, it seems like the best way to go.

You need to redo that whole rig man.

That hose between the pipe and throttle body looks to be a low strenght hose one would find comming from the AFM, not designed to be pressurized.

Electrical tape and jerry-rigged plugs are unacceptable.

Fix that thing , you know it's jacked up.

theoreticly you could put a coupler OVER the hole to plug it(least it would look better than the electrical tape)

otherwise cut, rotate 45 or so degrees, and have a metal shop weld it back together........ it should be easy for them to cut rotate and weld it back together since it isnt a point where it turns.

PS please get rid of the ugly black coupler you have there. I can attest to how easy it is to pop those things and create a huge boost leak. they act like an accordian(sp?) under boost...... learn from my mistakes, I didnt listen to sean(needCAfors13)

the pipe does turn a bit into the stock ugly black coupler thing (which i hate but its all i have).

i think maybe i'll have w/e place ( anybody know where?) i go to cover the whole, then either buy a pipe/flange combo off ebay or use a piece of intake pipe i have laying around to remove the black coupler.

PS sorry if it seems i could think of this stuff on my own, i just need ppl to bounce ideas off of. Thanks again

the only things that are "jerry-rigged" on my car are a couple things plugging boost leaks (for now) and the intake for the MAF (since i dont have a MAF adapter). I dont have alot of money right now since the economy is stuff, but im working on it...take it easy

Go to a muffler shop and have them make a new pipe. The whole thing is wrong. You save youself all the problems by just starting fresh.

Thank you MeanGreen! lol

try and find someone with an SR thats swapping from SMIC Stocker to an FMIC. there is a slightly s shaped rubber coupler that comes from the factory and it should fit right on your TB. thats the best advice i can give you for losing that piece

My whole intercooler piping setup is made from 2.5" Auto Zone mild steel exhaust tubing. I think it cost me $30 TOTAL and it holds boost fine. Also, it doesn't matter if the stuff leaks because I am MAP based! Yay!

Seriously though, AZ exhaust piping (pre-bent) and plumbing couplers/fittings from Lowes/Home Depot. Its not winning any beauty pageants but it does get the job done.
