maybe it is just me, but the manifold looks naked without the idle controllers...... I think I would def need a new manifold if I removed all those goodies.

yea its just you gabby, fo sho....It makes working on it and looking at it easier on your soul.

Tim didnt you just replace a front main seal btw? Or something about your front pulley being on and off all the time to change the front main? If you just answered yes to the above question you need to route the exhaust side valve cover to a catch can immediatley, that vents to atmosphere, or your turbos inlet pipe. thank me later

As it is now, the only time it is able to breathe is when its pulling vaccuum i.e. closed throttle plate. So during an 8k jaunt past your buddies house at 2am when its in full boost from 3k-8k its putting excess pressure on all of your seals, turbo included. Does it smoke like a ba*tard sometimes?

aluminum will retain heat as well..if you drive your car for 30 minutes and feel the intake tubes, they usually aren't cold (cold pipe is cooler though). the stuff on the hotside get..well, HOT lol

I'm here damnit, and no, my engine doesn't breathe. It also doesn't run either, so its not a big problem at the moment.

I have not done any work on it yet, I am still stockpiling parts.

Got my new clutch hydraulic system installed, got my ARP rod bolts, rear main seal, cam seals, throw out bearing, and oil pump. BTW, I got different part numbers for the DE and ET oil pumps, I'm assuming the RWD one is the way to go? Is the only difference the oil pickup?

I'm contemplating buying some other stuff, you know, its hard not to when you have the "well, while I'm in there..." excuse. Hopefully she doesn't need new bearings and/or rings, as that would suck. Who knows what damage my failing oil pump has caused though. As is she sits there and hammers away for a full minute, minute and a half before the pump catches and I get oil pressure.

By the way, don't mount your IAT sensor where I have mine. It heat soaks under extended driving if you don't keep it above 60, and the ECU pulls timing like craazy as a result, so your EGTs will soar.

Greg, tell me how exactly I should have it all routed and I will get to fixing it this week.

P.S. my dad routed the breathers like that on one of his rampages through the engine bay of my car, so it isn't entirely my fault. It is my fault for not correcting it though.

One last question for you Greg, you mentioned when I visited that you found a very nice one-piece oil pan gasket for the CA. Think you could point me in that direction? Its one of the few things I have left that I need to order.

CA's dont use oil pan gasket, FSM even says to use RTV. If you want go to Honda and pick up Hondabond, great gasket thingyand if you ever need to remove it, it comes off as one piece.

the rubber one piece isnt worth using, mine sheared and leaked oil likeabastard.

the same thread I talked about it in, I updated it later with my findings.

people have used the cork ones with succes, float said his weeps, but he installed dry.

black nissan RTV all the way, not napa oil pan gasket shiz.

as for the catch....leave the PCV routed to the intake breather, and the exhaust breather - send to catch that vents to atmosphere, or your turbos inlet.....basically factory with a catch can inbetween breather and inlet.

Now, to buy a catch can or to use a plastic bottle? Eff paying like, $100 for some fancy cusco crap, I'm going ebay all the way. I was looking earlier and saw them for as little as $2.75, which brings me back to my question. I might not be able to purchase a NOS energy drink (I'm told it adds more power than other drink bottles) for as cheap as I could get a eGay catch can.

Pros for the drink:

1. The container comes filled with delicious energy drink

2. More flavors than metal catch can

3. Can buy locally (no waiting)

Pros for eGay catch can:

1. Shiny

2. Proper part for the job

3. Probably won't have to replace it (bottle is likely to fall off/get gross and I won't feel like cleaning it/melt)

Which one should I choose and why?

get a can so if you decide to pull vacuum on it via your turbos inlet, you have the proper barbed/sealed fittings to do so.

that should be the real question, weather it will vent to atmoshphere, or will your inlet vent it with vacuum.

If you do ram a hose into the mouthpiece of an energy drink can however, it is self venting in that the hose/mouthpiece junction isn't air tight.

There are universal cans littering the internet that have your name on them that have a drain on the bottom to drain condensation (cooling internal engine parts) that will form in the can if you choose to vent to atmosphere.

I think I'm gonna go with the catch can, because I can order it while naked. I mean, I could go to the store naked and buy the energy drink, but that's how I get arrested.

You say I should get one with some kind of drain on the bottom? I'm going to route it to the intake pipe when I can get back home and weld on a bung, but until then (a month? 6 weeks MAX) it would have to be vented to the atmosphere.

most of the universal ones come with a drain on the lower end, yes.

2 inlets up top, and a threaded drain on bottom.

I prefer to drink a little bit of

right before I drink some

Once I drink those that I claim myself worthy for some

Cause clearly you're a pimp when you drink the first too. After all that is said and done I drink a little of

to bring me back down to earth.

where could i go to get all my shiz welded on and rotated and what not? can a run-of-the-mill muffler shop weld the aluminum or no?

^^i think this was covered but dont remember lol

any muffler should be able to do it, or google local fabricating shops, a little pricey but you'll get good quality welds.

Get yourself a sexy 1g DSM BOV.

yup, googled fabricating shops and got a few results, thanks lol

as for the BOV, i'll probably get the SSQV but remove the insert so there is no annoying sound. i'll probably run it to atmosphere until i get a suction pipe made up or i get one from Project Silvia.
